    3. Again and again itā€™s demonstrated how important O-line cohesion is and how it correlates to gaining rhythm on offense. Thatā€™s my primary concern right now. That shit wrecks QB confidence, trust, and internal clocks.

    Did McVay get schooled? I didn’t really see it that way. I saw Phillips gets schooled, but you don’t put up 40 points in the face of 4 turnovers and get schooled. You will, however, look mortal if your offense has to make up for the Bucs scoring three touchdowns with their first four possessions and then matching every score you make with another one of their own afterward. Yeah, let’s just run 30 more times and get a few more 3&outs while the defense continues to let the opposition set a Franchise record in points scored.

    Is McVay blameless? Of course not. I think he went into panic mode when down by 3 scores early, but honestly? I would have done the same thing. If we were able to keep the score close, the run game would have made more than just a cameo, IMO.

    The o-line was awful, but that’s what happens when you have new combinations and new bodies trying to work together and communicate without enough time to do so. That’s why the RBs were in pass-block mode so often. They weren’t really reeling off chunks of yards on the ground anyway.

    The defense? lol. Good job taking away Mike Evans, but there are more players on that team than just Mike Evans. And if you’re not getting home with 4, then maybe try 5. Or 6. Or 7. But credit where it’s due. Their O-line held their own all game against a pretty damn good pass rushing team.

    Goff had a productive (and bad) day. Can’t put your defense in a hole like that – and that many times – and expect to employ a balanced attack. Particularly if you’re going to give the opponent so many short field situations to feast upon.

    Its obvious McVay didnā€™t think they could run it today. They didnā€™t even try. Thatā€™s not a Gurley or Henderson issue. Thatā€™s an OL issue. Now is it because the Bucs front 7 is so good? Or because the Rams OL is not? Thatā€™s the question that came out of today.

    Austin Blythe and Joseph Noteboom were both liabilities against Tampa Bay. Both Los Angeles guards struggled significantly in pass protection and did little to make up for it in the run game.

    This was one of Jared Goffā€˜s worst games of the season. He had multiple turnover-worthy plays and really struggled to push the ball downfield.

    Aaron Donald was limited against Tampa Bayā€™s offensive line. He rarely created pressure on passing downs and was generally kept quiet in the run game, at least more so than what weā€™ve come to expect from Donald.

    Rams make NFL history with alarmingly bad run-pass balance in Week 4

    Jared Goff threw the ball 68 times, which is the third-most in a single game in NFL history. It doesnā€™t need to be said that a balance of 68 pass attempts and 11 rushes is rare and unheard of ā€“ even in todayā€™s game.

    In fact, the Rams are the only team in league history with 65 or more pass attempts and fewer than 12 rushes.

    I was at the game and you could tell those turnovers were coming. The Bucs were getting penetration on EVERY offensive play whether running or passing. Look no further than the 22 yards rushing.

    SOME FOLLOW-UP

    Through the first three weeks of the 2019 NFL season the Bucs are 13th in total offense. The Rams are ranked 16th. Raise your hand if you thought this would happen prior to start of season?

    Winston has thrown 5 TD’s and 4 interceptions, Goff 4 TD’s and 3 interceptions.

    On the defensive side the Bucs are stout against the run, only allowing an average of 70 yards rushing per game. Goff may not get a lot of help from the running attack in this one limiting the effectiveness of play action.

    Bowles is one of the best defensive coordinators in this league and has vast experience inside the NFC West. Unsure if Bowles will resort to borrowing the Patriots philosophy as Browns did last week with his prior experience but certain he will recognize Rams struggles when offensive line faces a six man front and total frustration at times when this 6 man front shifts and overloads. At the very least I expect Bowles to show some 6 man fronts before the communications are cut off at 15 seconds.

    1.) Rams must not look past Tampa with Seahawks on Thursday. With division contests must wins not as easy a task as it sounds.

    2.) Tampa strength is their defense and Bowles is a very solid coordinator with a lot of experience against Rams and NFC West opponents.

    3.) Oline needs a much better showing than last week. No matter the era this game is won and lost in the trenches. The offensive packages appearing limited to date in 2019 may very well be directly correlated to the coaching staff’s installs of the packages along the offensive line and when coaches feel they are ready to execute at the level needed for success the offense will expand.

    Division contests are always a great time to unveil some new wrinkles in the offensive installs. Don’t expect many new wrinkles tomorrow but certain McVay will want to give Carroll some new looks to concern himself with on a short week.

    4.) With Seahawks on Thursday, tomorrow would be a great time for Goff to catch fire. Despite his mild struggles it appears Goff is reading the field better in 19, loved the audible at line last week on the completion to Reynolds despite TO by sidelines. Loved the deep out in against that alignment to Reynolds allowing Goff to highpoint throw against double coverage, a read not possible with Cooks.

    Goff is slowing earning the trust of McVay and when he does it will result in quicker execution and less time for the defense to adjust in all situations.

    5.) Rams defensive backs could have a huge day tomorrow against Winston especially if offense opens 2 or 3 score lead and forces TB to the air. If pass rush has the showing they are capable of, it could be a 2 score day for defensive backfield against Winston who despite entering 5th season can still be baited into the bad throw when pressured
