LT Andrew Whitworth reportedly expected to re-sign with the Rams. Doing so would make sense for the Rams. GM Les Snead said Joe Noteboom was slated to eventually replace Whitworth, but Noteboom’s ACL injury complicated that plan. Rookie Bobby Evans also projects as a LT, so bringing Whit back would afford them time to continue evaluating both.==
When asked to define the ideal left tackle – or a left tackle in their prime – Snead described a scenario in which a team has drafted that player, and that player has gained experience and learned from “hiccups” along the way in order to become more consistent and trustworthy. They are young enough that they can hold their own against some of the league’s most skilled pass-rushers, but also have gained enough knowledge to lean on from losing some of those one-on-one battles.
The ideal left tackle, then, could already be on the Rams’ roster in the form of Noteboom or Evans. However, given his and Evans’ small sample size for evaluation, even with with some of their preseason cross-training along the offensive line, Los Angeles could need Whitworth again to allow for another year of grooming to meet the criteria outlined by Snead.

Idea that you can’t pay a top QB and be a Super Bowl contender is folly. Smart teams do it all the time.Roughly 50% of NFL rosters are on rookie contracts, making +/- $1 million. The idea a team can’t afford elite contracts for QB, other top players is ridiculous.

Secondary needs: edge defender, linebackerThe Rams’ offensive line was one of the better units in the league in 2018, and their offense flourished behind it as a result. That all fell apart this past season, with injuries and personnel changes taking a toll on the group. They finished the season 31st in PFF’s offensive line rankings, and now, the most consistent player from the line — Andrew Whitworth — is set to be a free agent at 38 years old. There isn’t a position on the line that the Rams can’t look to improve on in 2020.
They should also look to add some new pieces defensively. Edge defender becomes an area of need with the impending free agency of Dante Fowler Jr., but even if the Rams retain him, they can look to improve the other starting edge slot over Clay Matthews (54.2 overall grade in 2019) and Samson Ebukam (66.7). At linebacker, the Rams should make every effort to re-sign Cory Littleton. Since 2018, his coverage grade of 90.1 trails only Lavonte David and Luke Kuechly among linebackers with 1,000 or more defensive snaps.

In terms of the vid that starts this thread…I couldn’t listen to it. I caught Mr. Enthusiast For the System’s first few words about how great the concentration of wealth is and I was gone. I can’t listen to that kind of thing (that’s just a personal reaction, it’s a great post). That kind of thing to me is just fingernails on the blackboard, on a cosmic scale.
