znModeratoror maybe they figure stock up on more lower round draft picks by trading down and try to get that number by volume rather than fewer but higher quality draft picks?
All the reports I’ve seen so far say that the 2024 draft is loaded. Just loaded. Given that, is there that much difference between a 1st round pick in the 20s and a 2nd round pick? Presumably with a loaded draft, they would have multiple good players to choose from both in the low end of the 1st round and in the second round.
In terms of their hit percentage, I give them 6 hits for 2023 so far (Avila, Young, Turner, Nacua, Allen, and Ethan Evans) and 3 hits for 2022 (Williams, Lake, and Yeast). A player or two could still emerge from either draft (Hampton? Durant? Bruss?) So that’s by my count 9 of 22, or 41%, which is excellent. Let’s say they trade down in 2024 and get 12 picks. 41% of that would be 4.9 or actually 5.
znModeratorRams Tapes@RamsTapesAll this praise lately on Matthew Stafford, and Puka Nacua.. but can we talk about Ernest Jones? Who is ranked in the top 9 in total tackles (132) arguably currently the best blitzing LB in the NFL, has 5 sacks, 5 QB Hits, and 13 TFL’s, and has a @PFF grade of 81.5
znModeratorBut Brady’s talent was inside his head. I guess. Its the only explanation that makes sense. He ‘processed’ things quickly, accurately. Better than the rest.
Yeah that was the thing with him. He processed things more quickly than anyone else. Which is why he never suffered a physical decline. His talent wasn’t all that physical in the first place. He just saw things and reacted more quickly than anyone else, and for lack of a better term also reacted correctly to what he saw far more often than not. I guess on top of that you can say he was also consistently accurate, which is a physical skill.
znModeratorFrom this point forward, I am Mr. Arrogant. The Rams have the entire NFL in the bag. That’s my line, and I will not be deterred.
The football gods tell me, they approve of your response.

znModeratorPUKA nacua vs New Orleans saints | a football breakdown
znModeratorThat would mean the Rams would have to lose another game this season, and I don’t see how that can happen.
The football gods say: “that happens if the 9ers want to redeem themselves by beating a fiesty division rival.”
znModeratorFollowing wins by the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks wins on Sunday in Week 16, there is a realistic chance that the season still ends with the Rams on the outside looking in. The Seahawks could finish 10-7 while the Packers and Rams finish 9-8. If that scenario were to happen, the Rams would miss the playoffs.
znModeratorThere are two Week 17 clinching scenarios for @RamsNFL:
1) Win + SEA loss to PIT

10. Los Angeles Rams (8-7)
(Last week: 10)
Thursday: Beat New Orleans Saints 30-22
MVP: Matthew Stafford
Los Angeles has won five of six games, and in that span, the 35-year-old Stafford has thrown 15 touchdown passes and two interceptions. In each of the last 10 years in which Stafford has played a full season, he has thrown for at least 3,700 yards. He is 11th all time in passing yards with 56,058 in 15 seasons after throwing for 328 yards and two touchdowns against the Saints on Thursday.

znModeratorSpencer Schultz@ravens4dummiesStafford, Allen and Jackson are the three best QB’s in football this year. Rams are a tough out because Stafford is so on time it’s like there’s almost not a defense on the field.

znModerator.@ravens @kyledhamilton_ play a “matchup zone” which is different than most teams. No one does it better and the @49ers were the latest to find out. #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/P7qK9MxsFK

znModeratorRAMS REPORT@RamsNFLReportThe Rams had better not underestimate this Giants team. They have not been an easy out the last few weeks, and they’re not playing for anything. Going to need to play 4 good quarters on Sunday.

znModeratorJason La Canfora@JasonLaCanforaThat was as emphatic as it gets. 49ers better have big Trent for the playoffs or they might not even be the best NFC team in California these days. they definitely don’t have the best QB in the NFC Westright now.Scoot@_SC00T

znModeratorNick Wagoner@nwagonerPick No. 3 for #49ers QB Brock Purdy on a play that was already all but dead and going to come back for a chop block penalty. Another bad decision. Ravens have first down at Niners’ 19.
znModeratorNick Wagoner@nwagoner
This is the first time in his young career that #49ers QB Brock Purdy has thrown multiple interceptions in the first half of a game.Purdy had never thrown a pick when targeting Deebo entering tonight. Both of these picks were for him.

#Ravens #49ers secondary’s making plays man…gonna be that kind of grind it out night for both QB’sNick Wagoner@nwagoner
A hell of a play by Ravens DB Brandon Stephens, who reacts to the screen for Deebo by deflecting it into the air and into the arms of Marlon Humphrey. That’s the second interception of the night for #49ers QB Brock Purdy.
Ted Nguyen@FB_FilmAnalysis
Good read by Purdy reading the CB blitz. Incredible play to tip it and intercept it by the Ravens defense…
10-5 Ravens halfway through the 2nd quarter.
znModeratorHeath Cummings@heathcummingssrThat’s one of the worst halves any team has played this season. Chiefs got their tails kicked schematically and physically..Field Yates@FieldYatesI didn’t think I’d ever see an offense with Patrick Mahomes look like this for nearly a full season. KC led the league in yards and points last year and returned 7 of its top 8 rushers plus 10 of its top 11 receivers (with Rashee Rice added)..trey wingo@wingozThat was arguably the worst half of Patrick Mahomes career
znModeratorMike Sando, from https://theathletic.com/5159714/2023/12/25/nfl-biggest-surprises-tom-brady-baker-mayfield/
Top quarterbacks miss more games than at any time in recent memory.
Michigan Law student Jake Grossman produced the chart below showing what percentage of games Tier 1 and Tier 1-2 quarterbacks have played each season since 2014, the year my Quarterback Tiers survey debuted. The rates are lower this season than in any other. With so many other established quarterbacks retiring in recent seasons, offensive production is hurting.

znModeratorI am up to date on the latest meditation/curse techniques.
See? Goes to show. As I am always telling young people. never underestimate the value of a good education.
znModeratorWe have ourselves a damn good storyline going on right in front of us. This has been a famously fun season, and the future looks pretty goddam good.
Yeah starting with the Arizona game after the bye, this has been a great offensive team with Stafford playing brilliantly, and Kyren Wms giving them a top notch running game. The defense is scrappy and comes through enough to make a difference even though it isn’t consistently a top defense. The Cleveland and Baltimore games sealed it.
We know what the flaws are on this team but they can address that next year. At least a lot of it anyway.
I’ve enjoyed this run of games as much as any other we’ve seen in the past. It has the same “we weren’t expecting this” feeling that 99 did.
