znModeratorCameron DaSilva@camdasilvaQuick recap of the Rams’ roster moves in the last 2 days:– Signed OL Nsekhe and CB Witherspoon to the practice squad
– Signed OL Christian to 53-man roster
– Signed C McMahon off Eagles PS
– Put Avila, Nacua and Noteboom on IR
– Cut Taylor + Blake Larson from PS
znModeratormore along the lines of what zooey posted just before this post.
…
EDGE Jared Verse
The Rams rookie first round pick looked the part against the Lions. There is reason to believe that he will be an impact presence on the edge throughout the season. Verse had six pressures with a 26.1 percent pressure rate. It’s the fourth highest pressure rate in Week 1 by a rookie since 2018.
Verse needs to do better containing the edge, but that will come with time and experience. The most important thing is that the defense has a player that it can rely on to get to the quarterback when needed.
znModeratorJourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
– Signed OL Geron Christian Sr and Dylan McMahon to active roster
– Signed CB Ahkello Witherspoon to the practice squad with a veteran designation
znModeratorJourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
– OL Steve Avila and Joe Noteboom + WR Puka Nacua to injured reserve (minimum four games)Kevin Dotson (foot) will be held out of practice today but Sean McVay said they are going to be careful with the starting RG with the expectation he will make it to the game. Cobie Durant (toe) won’t practice. Rob Havenstein (ankle) and Christian Rozeboom (n/a) will be limited.
Jonah Jackson is the only player among the Rams’ starting offensive line (as determined heading into training camp) who is practicing.Gary Klein@LATimesklein
Puka Nacua, Steve Avila and Joe Noteboom are eligible to come off IR after week 5 game against Packers and will have benefit of bye week. But McVay said they each have unique injuries that could keep them out longer.
znModeratorHoldenCantor@HoldenCantorRams are bringing back Ahkello Witherspoon
znModeratorroberto clemente@rclemente2121the 1st & 10 perfectly executed 20-yard laser to kupp, down 13-17, 5:35 left in regulation, the rams had 8 guys in pass pro and 2 guys running patterns against 5 in coverage.keep everyone home to pass block to help the tackles out, except for 2 wr that 5 lions in coverage couldn’t defend…..
znModeratorBrian Baldinger@BaldyNFL@RamsNFL everyone gets smarter at football when you watch them play. They never EVER make excuses…They are too busy finding solutions and they maximize their roster. Thank You Rams You make me watch every week. #BaldysBreakdowns

Needing more help on the offensive line following a knee injury suffered by Steve Avila in Week 1, the Los Angeles Rams went to the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad for reinforcements, signing rookie center Dylan McMahon on Tuesday. The Eagles drafted McMahon with the 190th pick in the sixth round out of North Carolina State this year but he was one of Philadelphia’s “surprise cuts” after a “strong summer” according to Victor Williams of “The Philly Pod”
McMahon is a good athlete and Eric Galko noted that he had “a great career, great Shrine Bowl, great NFL combine” after playing both guard positions and center in college. The Eagles needed another center after Jason Kelce retired but right now they don’t have anyone officially backing up starter Cam Jurgens. Presumably Landon Dickerson might move over if the Eagles needed a center and they didn’t protect McMahon if a team like the Rams wanted to poach him off of the practice squad.
znModeratorHe had a short stint with the Rams in St Louis before bouncing around the league including another stop with the Rams in LA
He was with them and starting in 2022 too.

The injury-ridden #Rams are signing veteran OTs Geron Christian and Ty Nsekhe, per their agents

znModeratorRams Fans United@RamsFansUnitedMy NFL theory of everything is: If you have your coach and QB there are a lot of ways to do the other stuff. If you don’t, there aren’t.

znModeratorLooked like the DLine got handled by the Lion Oline. Did it?
During the regular game, Rams front 7 was getting pressure. It was actually impressive.
The impression of the Lions OL dominating the Rams DL came from overtime. In OT, the Lions just ran the ball down the field. I think they passed the ball once. It was a great OL going against a young, smallish, and tired Ram front 7.
It is hard to fault the Rams for that game. They had 3 subs playing on the OL then 1 of those 3 had to be replaced because he got injured. Nacua, Avila, and Noteboom had to leave the game. Rams made some big mistakes–but they played their hearts out and at one point took the lead against a very good team that was playing without injuries in their home stadium. There’s no such thing as a moral victory but there is a such thing as a noble defeat.

znModerator• Steve Avila: 4-game IR (Week 7 return)
znModeratorwhat do people think of jared verse? and fiske? and limmer? seems verse did particularly well no?
Well I’m no Baldy but from what I saw Verse stood out more than Fiske. Limmer did okay but he was part of a line that couldn’t hold up on pass pro on longer plays (3rd n 10 etc) and which couldn’t open the running game. I just think Fiske and Limmer were thrown to the fire and this says nothing bad about them. Verse standing out is kind of a big bonus–PFF ranked him 6th in the league in pass rush win rate. That’s pretty impressive coming right out of the gate.

znModeratorroberto clemente@rclemente2121the oline combos that began each drive for the rams last night:
znModeratorRams Bros.@RamsBrothersPer @NextGenStats, Cooper Kupp had 42 snaps and 12 touches in motion in Week 1, the most by any player in a game over the last 7 seasons. Need production from Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson, Jordan Whittington, etc. with Puka on IR. Can’t run Kupp into the ground again.
znModeratorRams Bros.@RamsBrothersWeek 6 bye may be a blessing for the #Rams
• Puka Nacua: 4-game IR (Week 7 return)
• Steve Avila: 4-game IR (Week 7 return)
• Darious Williams: 4-game IR (Week 5 return)
• Kevin Dotson: day-to-day
• Joe Noteboom & Cobie Durant: “will miss a few weeks”
znModeratorStu Jackson@StuJRamsSean McVay said Joe Noteboom suffered a high ankle sprain and will miss a few weeks. Kevin Dotson has a lateral sprain and is day-to-day.
znModeratorJourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
McVay clarifies, Nacua will go to IR. He will miss four games minimum..RAMS REPORT@RamsNFLReportPer reports, Puka Nacua has suffered a PCL strain and will be out a minimum of 4 games on IR. The Rams just so happen to have a bye week following that four week stretch, so the first game where Nacua could come back and play would be in Week 7 at home vs Las Vegas.

reactions to last night’s overtime loss to the #Lions:• Nine & Dime, still elite
• OL in shambles (injuries), McVay & co. persevered anyway
• DL struggled against the run but Shula dialed up good pressure opps

Some good to take from yesterday and I’ll probably miss some:-Shula can call a damn defense
-Troy Reeder..not that bad
-Durant does not want to give up his job
-Coop is Coop again
-Stafford is a dawg, per usual
-Colby Parkinson was a great addition

— For people worried about the Rams RUSH defenseThe Lions are a top 5 returning rush offense in the league
top 5 in RYPG
top 5 in YPC
#1 in rushing TDSThey have arguably the best OL
They have 2 rushers who ran for over 1k last year
Monty is a bruiser who was limited half 2 and came out fresh in OT vs a tired DL in LA
Gibbs is fast and elusive
We held both guys to under 100 yards
We held Gibbs to 3.6 ypc
Monty did have his way but if you watch the Lions they do that to EVERYONE, Its not like the Patriots or Chargers ran all over us, both of them had more yards than Detroit
***
— Rams are just that good that they can lose their star WR early, LT early , LG early after already not having their RT , LT and CB1 and take the Lions at home to OTThis DL vs the best OL showed up way better than last year! Age of this stud 4 DL is (26,25,24,23) THEY SHOWED UP! Bobby Brown and Hoecht did ok for most part
LBs played decent but the loss of Ernest could be felt at times
White is a good CB but he is not fast, he did let up a big TD unfortunately that may overshadow his overall GREAT game! He tackled well and contained his side.
Durant showed out, Lake showed out, CURL IS A DOG!
JJ3 is still that dude! Got a mean stiff arm but thats one play, overall great game!
Stafford had one big mistake but overall showed why hes CLEARLY the best QB in NFC, its not really that close. Under pressure hes an animal, no look menace!
People said RUN, RUN, yes running is good when its working, but Lions have a top 5 run D with a STILL mid/weak secondary, you have to take advantage of that with Staff and co!
PUKA- that one really hurt, if he plays whole game, we know how that turns out but Tyler Johnson did his thing but hes NO PUKA, period!
Avila was rusty and ends up getting hurt, hes young he should of got a good Q or 2 in pre season now hes hurt.
Noteboom was playing great and per usual gets hurt. Alaric was missed but Noteboom filled in for the short time.
#61 , I just call him by his number. You are not an NFL caliber LT , it clearly showed. So can not blame you because its not surprise you got worked all night and played bad. Parkinson was a nice help for you but one on one you were a non factor, no shock though your a 3rd stringer vs a top DE in league
Kupp is BACK. No shock when healthy a top 5 WR in league, period.
Corum will play, but you have to save him for games with a lead to start, we know Mcvay expects alot out of his RB and he is young. He will be our RB2 soon, but now its Rivers with Kyren still at 90% snap roughly share
Mcvay- You are still the second best coach in football. I like the aggressiveness but 4th and 4 with Puka out and Stafford hobbled was not wise, still, I ride for you because you are brilliant!
Mr Shula- You are the MVP here, what a fucking game plan you put out there, you will be a HC soon my friend, just hopefully we get you for 2+ years!
Playboy Karty- man you can end my anxiety of FGS and you did. Still need to see a 50 yarder but so far, im happy!
Lions great game to you. While you barely beat us with all we had going on, we still had some dogs out there working and with #9 back there we have a shot vs anyone! The run game in Detroit is tops in league, Ben Johnson is the best OC right now by a landslide and he really works with Goff strengths well. Goff is not a game changer, but he can manage a game and do whats asked. Letting Gibbs get alot of work half 2 was allowing Monty to rest and be full go in OT which showed , man we were gassed as hell and that dude looked like he just woke up from a 10 hour sleep!
Hoping for good news on our injury front. Go RaMS!
