wvParticipant“..Nick Bosa injury looms large
The 49ers defense wasn’t bad against the Jaguars, but the cracks showed with Bosa out. Their pass rush was nonexistent. San Francisco was credited with zero quarterback hits and zero sacks. Jacksonville also had its way on the ground with 151 yards on 32 carries overall. If we remove all three Trevor Lawrence kneel downs at the end of the game the Jags went for 156 yards on 29 attempts.”

wvParticipant49er injury:
Ricky Pearsall (WR): Suffered a knee injury after a hard fall on the sideline in the third quarter, which caused pain and instability, leading him to sit out the remainder of the game.
wvParticipantI thought J.Dart looked like an excellent prospect for the Giants. He’s decisive. And quick.
Giants lost M. Neighbors for the season though. ACL.

wvParticipant49ers played bad and the Jags played bad, and the 49ers lost.
I watched Purdy throwing the ball and If i were the GM of the 49ers I would only draft WR’s who were as big as Terrell Owens. Because Purdy has a habit of throwing the ball high and getting his WR’s kilt.
Purdy kinda reminds me of Jeff Garcia. Tough. A gamer. Solid. But limited. Not a great QB.

wvParticipantAdonai Mitchell. Second Round pick. Played at Georgia. Won two Natl Championships.
Wiki:
“He was a key part of the 2022 College Football National Championship victory at the end of the 2021 season, catching the go-ahead 40-yard touchdown pass from Stetson Bennett with 8 minutes remaining.
During the celebration of the victory, Mitchell was interviewed by CBS Atlanta affiliate, WGCL, where he recounted the catch, “It was amazing to answer that call when it came, be that answer that the team to come through.”[12] Mitchell finished the season as the Bulldogs’ third ranked receiver, totaling 29 receptions for 426 yards and four touchdowns.[13]
wvParticipantAs some of you might remember, i started watching the rams near the end of the 1968 season. I was eleven years old. The only players i knew were Deacon, Merlin and Roman.
But the first full season i followed them was 1969. We didnt have ESPN or cable networks or internet. (We traveled by Woolly Mammoth in WV back then)
The first game in 1969 was against John Unitas and the Baltimore Colts. (who were coming off a Super Bowl loss to Namath).I could only follow the Rams by watching a non-ram network game, and watching for the game reports and halftime and postgame shows.
But i remember following the score of that first game. Random snippets and reports on the game would pop up on the screen of the Steeler game I had to watch. Baltimore was favored by six.
I still remember the final score. I smile just thinking about it. Rams 27. Colts 20.
Unitas had 3 INTs. Billy Truax had a TD. Roman had 3 TDs no picks.Anyway, the Indy Colts belong in Baltimore. And the football gods know this. And that is why the gods flicked the ball out of that idiot reciever’s hands at the goal line. And that is why Johnathan Taylor ran a long way for nothing.
Bring on the 49ers. Who stayed in SF where they belong.

wvParticipantI like hearing from what i call ‘baby leftists’. Ie, people who have recently figured it out.
This lady named Amanda Seales made me smile. She’s ornery and entertaining.
wvParticipantThe Colts Taylor is no.1 in the NFL as of now: 338 yards, 5.6 yard average.
Rams K.Williams is 9th. 226 yards. 4.1 yard average.
wvParticipantDidnt know Ingmar Bergman was a Nazi sympathizer up until about 1948 or so.
28 minute mark of the film. When he finally came to his senses about Nazism and rejected it, according to the film, he swore to never become politically engaged again, and not to bring politics into his films.
Which seems stupid to me, and the opposite of what he should have done.Bergman: A Year In The Life

wvParticipantThe thing that may hold Stewart back a little, is that i will never, ever, be able to spell his first name. I had the same problem with that Robertson linebacker fella. I think thats what cut his career short.

2024 – Michigan
Entering his senior season, Pro Football Focus listed Stewart as the No. 9 ranked edge rusher in college football prior to the 2024 season.[14] He changed his jersey from No. 5 to No. 0 for his last year at Michigan.[15] Despite transferring one year earlier, Stewart was voted as an alternate team captain for the 2024 season.[16]

wvParticipant“The Colts are the first team since at least 1940 to punt just one time in their first three games of a season – and that remarkable stat is, through one lens, the product of quarterback Daniel Jones being sacked just two times this season…”
I have to admit, i am over-confident this week. I just dont take the Colts and Daniel Jones seriously. Good thing, I’m not suiting up. I would come out flat.

Player injuriesKenny Moore II (Calf): Moore sustained a calf injury and is expected to miss “a couple of weeks,” according to reports. As a result, the Colts have signed veteran cornerback Mike Hilton for depth.
Alec Pierce (Concussion): Pierce left the game to be evaluated for a concussion after a hard fall and was ruled out early in the fourth quarter. He is currently in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

wvParticipantYeah, I share that view, too…
Meanwhile, they have everybody at each other’s throats over a dozen trans athletes.
There is zero chance of avoiding the dystopia…
I dunno. But the future is bleak.
Yeah. Its a strange psychological-space to be in. So many weird aspects.
Living in a very-red-state, and watching the effects of decades of mountains of propaganda on Americans is….well…i have no more words.
There’s no escape. I just finished a book by Susan Casey. (ive read all her books) This one was about the Deep Ocean. (Billionaires have been building little deep-ocean submarines that they carry on their yachts.) She has many chapters on the mysteries and beauty of the Abyss. So much incredible life down there. People think of the ocean floor as kinda empty but the bio-mass is unbelievable. Anyway, then she has a chapter on what the corporations have planned for the ocean floor. Deep ocean dredging. Like mountain top mining only in the ocean. And huge nets to scoop up all the tiny life. And liquify it. To feed cows and things. What could possibly go wrong if corporations suck up all the tiny life in the ocean.
The people of the Earth will be affected in ways that defy description. But they have no say in any of this. The laws on this are enough to make you faceplant for a lifetime. I could go on. And this is just one tiny aspect of ‘the situation’.
Interesting times.

wvParticipantApparently there is a general strike in Italy over the gaza genocide. Of course you have to search non-mainstream sources to find any info on it.
Imagine how the American future would look if the left had been able to…uh…exist, and organize general strikes, etc.

https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/italy-faces-nationwide-strike-over-gaza-several-sectors-affected/3694709
ISTANBULItaly on Monday is experiencing a general strike over the situation in Gaza, which affects many sectors, including transportation, schools, and public services, news agency ANSA reported.
Workers across Italy went on strike following calls from grassroots trade unions to protest the situation in Gaza, with demonstrations held in several cities, including Genoa, Livorno, Milan, Rome, and Bologna.
The general strike, which began at midnight and continues till late Monday, is disrupting multiple sectors, particularly local public transport and railways, schools, public services, and ports.
The USB union called for “the immediate break-off of relations with the terrorist state of Israel, which is the concrete way in which Italy can, and must, react to the genocide that is taking place.”
Protesters disrupted ports in Genoa and Livorno, blocked university lecture halls in Bologna, marched in Milan to show support for a Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla, while triggering train cancellations in Rome and the closure of Milan’s M4 metro line as part of nationwide strikes.
“In Italy, the general strike has shut down train lines, ports, highways, schools & shops. With a genocide ongoing, there can be NO business as usual. Stay peaceful, everyone. Do not react to any provocation. Freedom for all allows no mistakes,” the UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, also said through the US social media company X.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israel has been carrying out a genocide in Gaza, which has so far killed nearly 65,300 Palestinians, most of them women and children.
wvParticipantGood lord, that was ridiculous. Death by a thousand give-aways.
Painful loss, that may cost them if they have to go back to Philly down the road.
Damn.
I will say this — If I’m Philly, i dont really wanna see the Rams again.

wvParticipantAnd it’s a mystery. But imo I think Puka is faster than he looks. He doesn’t have catlike speed, but he’s… you know… he’s an Ostrich. You wouldn’t think it to look at them, but they can run 43 mph..
I fact-checked you on the Ostrich. Yes, they can run 43 MPH. But Emus can only go 31 mph. And Kiwis only 12 mph.
Humans can go up to about 27-28 mph for a short time.
Now I would think that would put everything in a new light. Puka is obviously an Emu.
w
v
wvParticipantHe’s not a “system WR.” Not in terms of how that is usually meant…
He is not in the mold of an Ellard, Bruce, Holt, or Adams. He’s not “built” that way. Those guys were receivers in dancers’ bodies. Nakua is more like a tight end in a receiver’s body. But it’s also a bit more than that–for example, the way his feet work on sideline catches. I think of him as a more gifted version of a Hines Ward or Anquan Boldin.
… He also has a very strong awareness of how to play against zone defenses (he shares that with Kupp and in fact Kupp probably tutored him with that).
============
Thats high praise comparing him to Boldin.
There just seems to be this contrast in how people talk about Puka compared to how they talk about Adams. Adams, they say, can simply get-himself-open. They dont talk about Puka that way. They talk about Puka being ‘good against zone’ coverage.
I dunno. I watch Puka make play after play after play — and i cant quite figure out how he’s doing it. With a guy like Isaac Bruce, i am able to see the sheer obvious quick-twitch talent.
Like you say, Puka just seems like a little Tight End. Or a Deebo, of some sort.
I’m not saying Puka is ‘less valuable’ I’m just saying i cant quite categorize him.
w
v
wvParticipantSigh. I basically agree with Russell Dobular here. (from ‘Due Dissedence’ part of the ‘dirtbag left’) I set it to play at the 1:07 mark where he makes a little speech. Such a dark view, but i share it, fwiw.

wvParticipant“…But this year, they also have the “my guy beats your guy” option. Just look at clip 3 from above! Adams’ touchdown last week was pure isolation. No trickery, no gimmicks, just Stafford trusting him to win one-on-one. That’s the difference from previous seasons…”
