I would like them to sign Okung (10 mil per), Mangold (7 mil per), and Woods (5 mil per)

They get those 3 guys and I don’t care who else they go after, I’ll be a happy guy.

I have changed from Guard and Center to LT and Center…as I always say, I’m subject to change my mind daily or hourly whichever comes first.

I’m stil an O-line guy but a Kupp would give me pause.

I guess it really comes down to FA and who they ink in the early stages will set up who and how they go about their business in the draft.

Hmmm…Kupp possibly dropping to 37? I would be very interested in him at that spot.

    Good stuff IR.

I don’t think they are gonna give up on either Higbee or Hemingway…the only problem I saw with Higbee was he couldn’t block…he was just manhandled when he was tasked with blocking.

I looked at Reeds numbers and they really took off once McV started calling the plays, that leads me to believe he really regards the TE spot as a weapon….so, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some additions in that area. Also, much to my chagrin, I don’t think they are gonna let Kendricks go either. I actually compared Reeds numbers and Kendricks numbers and they were very comparable prior to McV….maybe LK can salvage his once promising career.

I don’t get the thought of moving GRob to possibly RT…what do they do with Hav then? Move him inside? Personally I think GRob would be better than Hav at Guard and Hav would be better than GRob at RT.

If they do go O-line, and I;m gonna include TE because they are on the line too, I like Elfein, Engram, and Lamp…probably in that order.

As always this is subject to change.

That’s where the team grades come in to play.

Personally, I think Elfein at 37 is worth the pick…but then again, I’m a known guy that wants an upgrade at center. I also think he’s gonna be sittin there when they pick…fingers crossed on my part (slim chance)

I also love this years DB crop and I kinda feel the same way as Fisher…draft at least 1 DB every draft…but the depth could allow them to take one later.

I think this year FA and the draft is gonna be O dominated because McV is an O guy and that is the biggest area of need.

I’ve always been a believer in drafting the best available…but need always has to be factored in, IMO.

There will be some good O-linemen available in the 2nd round, but usually to get your starting LT, and it appears Tackle is their target, you need to pick round 1 otherwise he’s a guy that will help later rather than right away.

That’s kinda why I think they are gonna be active in FA and Barnes is gonna be the Center again (ugh) and why Kendricks just might be around (double ugh)

Would not mind if Jordan Morgan of The Kutztown University some how ends up in horns. Can never go against a Golden Bear

I have heard him mentioned a couple of times by the talking heads. Caught my attention since reading your posts and, dare I say, cheerleading (no offense intended)

I think Elf will still be there early 2nd. I don’t think it matters, after watching the McV interview at the combine and seeing that list of invitations for a meet and greet….I get the feeling they are gonna roll with Barnes and bring in at least a tackle maybe a guard as well.

It also looks like they are gonna search the wr’s pretty hard as well.

I’m also pretty confident they add DB help.

Thanks for posting this list, I’m always interested in who the team wants to talk with…I know they purposely mislead at times, but they don’t pick till round 2 so I don’t see any misdirection going on.

I see a lot of tackles in that group…hmmm

I didn’t see any centers and in the posted video McV mentioned Barnes by name….seems like I have another year of griping about him ahead of me.

Edit…I missed Fuller but I was expecting/hoping to see Elfein i guess.

The key is….it’s what the players can and can not do.

yeah. he’s going to make adjustments here and there, so it won’t be exactly like the denver d, but he’s had so much experience converting defenses that he’ll find a way to get it done.

still i expect them to make some additions to the front seven either through free agency or the draft.

That’s what excited me the most, I think.

I have always been a 4-3 guy but after reading and watching some stuff on Wade and his philosophy…well, I really liked all of it and it really is close to a 4-3 in a lot of respects.

I also think he will bring in some LBer help and perhaps some line help…but the biggest concern is gonna be the backfield IMO. He just can’t fix everything in 1 offseason, but the good news is the team is young across the board.

I thought the video posted in this forum, where Wade discussed his 3-4 was one of the most informative pieces I have viewed in a long time.

He stated he doesn’t need the ILB’s to both be of the 250 lb variety because he doesn’t have them taking on OG’s anymore because they are just too big and strong.

He likes his Mike to be a tad bigger around 240-250 but that’s not set in stone. He also called the other ILBer the MOE and he said he’s usually a little smaller and he runs around chasing down the guy with the ball and is usually the leading tackler.

That said…the key thing he said was the LBers responsibilities were predicated on the guys in front of him…example would be if the guy in front had outside shoulder responsibility of the guard the LBer might have inside shoulder responsibility…it all starts at the line and what they can and can’t do. I know it’s a 1 gap concept but he has also had players that could control both gaps at the line and still penetrate so he allowed that to happen. The key is….it’s what the players can and can not do.

I’m optimistic….They landed the best D coordinator, perhaps not even just available but a case can be made he’s the best in the league right now.

The most important area of improvement is on the offensive side of the ball and in particular the development of Goff…all the areas have been covered with guys that have a proven track record, something that Fisher, time and again, failed to complete with the exception of the GW hire.

McVay is young, but I don’t view that as a negative. I like the idea of a hot young coordinator with fresh perspectives to ignite the offense…something McVay has shown he can do. I also like that he hired an O coordinator, realizing that even though it’s gonna be his system and his play calling, he’s gonna be pulled in more directions than he has ever experienced and is gonna need the help.

All in all…my candle wick was almost extinguished those last few games last year…I was just a puddle of wax with a very weak flame and a strong draft blowing over me…now I’m reformed with a long wick and a dry plate ready for the season.

Meh…I’m luke warm, at best, on both of them…we get 1 or both OK we don’t get either OK that’s kinda my feeling.

I’m more concerned with the O-line and Tru right now…both of which I think are keys to this team with TE right behind…not a Kendricks lover right now and would like to see TE addressed. Higbee showed he just can’t block and I have no idea what Hemmingway can be.

Basketball is a great cardio workout….I have no issues with the guy playing pick-up B-Ball,but I also hope he is dedicating himself this offseason because we’re gonna need this guy to bounce back.

Unfortunate for the guy rolling his ankles…hope this doesn’t affect his work status, I know I need to walk around a lot while performing my job.

I think Tru is a critical signing. The management decided to keep Tru over JJ and they knew the cost was only gonna go up…now is the time, they need to keep their good young building blocks while in their prime.

The cupboard is kinda bare behind him..if EJ comes back healthy, I think they can have a good tandem…if they let Tru walk the secondary is a disaster in the making.

As for Manion vs Goff…they can be evaluated against each other and IMO Goff showed he was already better than Manion and should only widen the gap this year.

HAHA…no,nothing like that. I’m not anti-Manion and I kept a close eye (as close as I can on TV) on both during the pre-season and while I thought Manion was better pre-season he really didn’t do anything special and never really took advantage of his big arm…more a dink and dunker…was that play calling or him? I felt it was him because pushed it more often than both Manion and Keenum.

Of course they are still individual opinions even though we did get to see both operate the same system.

It’s hard to decide that question at this point. They were on different team and different talent levels…so, hard to give an actual prediction at this point…that said, Dak’s year is hard to overlook.

With the exception of Britt they were all pretty horrible anyway and for someone with Britt’s physical gifts a thousand yard season shouldn’t be a big deal at all. The real question is why hasn’t he done 4 or 5 times by now. Even in ’16 he was constantly injured . His snap count would be an interesting stat. Goff hit all those guys right in the numbers/hands and they dropped them ran poor routes or wrong ones altogether . Shitcan them all. Keep Britt if it don’t break the bank but if it does there are better wrs to overspend on. Alshon Jeffery and Doug Baldwin would be huge up grades.

Goff didn’t consistently hit them in the hands and that was a part of the problem IMO.

How do you know they ran the wrong routes? Watching TV I can’t even tell if they ran a poor route.

Goff has to earn the respect through his play on the field. Setting up off day workouts is a good thing and a step in the right direction, IMO.

I tend to think this story is overblown as I’m sure he could have got a receiver or 2 to show up…they still have practice squad players and receivers that aren’t getting much PT that would love to get some attention from the starting QB.

for now i think mcvay will call plays because well he said so. but i could see a situation when the offense is installed and mcvay hands over playcalling duties to the offensive offensive coordinator if/when he feels comfortable handing them over. that would leave him more time to oversee the whole team. perhaps in a couple years.

That’s what I was thinking as well…in fact when McVay was in Washington Gruden called the plays then eventually turned those duties over.

I understand not wanting to let go because this O is gonna be his baby and he’s gonna get an OC that he can groom to operate it.

To me, if they don’t sign Tru it could be because they want to use big money for someone/something else.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Unless they have a big money “splash” type of, must have, FA signing they are lookin at…I think Truis back one way or the other.

Another thought is they designate him as non exclusive and that would ensure extra picks if they don’t match..I think that’s what I would do if we hadn’t reached an agreement by the deadline.

who knows what the truth is? for all we know shanny might like goff.

but if he takes the niners job, my guess is his first order of business is finding a quarterback. i don’t think he’s planning on kaepernick as his starting qb. i also don’t think him taking the niner job would necessarily mean he prefers kaepernick over goff.

as far as martz, i don’t know. he was just speaking to media. i doubt he’d be forthcoming about his real opinion on goff.

Yea…kinda my thoughts as well regarding the validity of the tweet.

Kap has had several years to show what he is IMO and I just don’t think Shanahan would be overjoyed with him.

I don’t recall Martz being very politically correct so I tend to believe he was high on him.

i don’t have a good feeling about this.

my only hope is that lynch has no idea what he’s doing.

but shanny’s offense is proven. i think it was the better fit. and if shanny really wasn’t so sure about goff then you trust his judgment. that guy knows quarterbacks.

You know who else knows QB’s? Mike Martz…and he had a completely different opinion of Goff.

My point is…IF Shanahan wasn’t comfortable with Goff he needs to tell me what he likes about Kappernick, cause I just don’t get it.

If they don’t sign Tru it’s because they want to use the cap space on other signings.

I agree that Tru is an important signing and somebody is gonna pony up.

That said, I think the Rams have some pretty good young DB’s…Does Wade want to go in to next year with that corps and maybe a cheaper Vet? I wouldn’t think so but sure is gonna be fun to see how it plays out.
