What cracks me up is #71 for the Vikes. He tries to block Donald and ends up just reaching at air.

That kid is fast and is going to be a force.

Well, itz a crazy-zany idea, but
it would be nice if the Rams
    offense could score some points.
That would be one way of helping
    the defense.

    w
    v

Uh….they did score 6 points you know.

That’s like a grand slam and two more runs.

    Well then I blame Fisher
for not using the no.4 QB.

That’s next week. Keenan will start with Gilbert as back-up as the Rams bring two more guys in to learn the system.

Soon the practice squad will consist of 10 QBs.

Opponents won’t know who to prepare for. It’s brilliant really.

There are going to be questions about this regarding Hill for awhile.

I don’t know what the deal is on an injury or not or how much it affected his play.

But it was a shocking moment for me when I saw Davis come in–and to all the world it LOOKED like Fisher had just decided to make a switch. Hey–is it possible he thought Davis would provide a spark? He had to be frustrated. We were all frustrated. Hill did not look happy. But I don’t know what to read into that. Hill could have been hurt and Davis went in for him–as simple as that but no one saw anything that limited Hill’s ability to play so there are going to be questions.

It probably didn’t matter. They weren’t going to win with that Oline today–and that bothers me more than anything. They have three fragile China Dolls on the line in Saffold, Wells and Long–they draft a young guy and they spend most of preseason shuffling guys around and don’t let the young guy settle into one position for awhile. But that line could not move the Vikes, could not protect their QB and was essentially useless today.

It doesn’t matter who QBs or who runs the ball or who is catching if they don’t solve that problem.

The penalties, the mistakes….yeah–that just digs things a little deeper, but the Oline has to perform better—and I’m hopeful they will. I mean they have to–right?

First and foremost this team MUST be able to run the ball. Without it they can’t do much of anything.

If Davis is #1….we’ll be #1….at the NFL DRAFT.

Hopefully Hill is okay…but they HAVE to get Keenum ready soon.

I hesitantly say Rams win. Just as PA Ram claims to have a bad feeling about this game, so do I.

However, unlike PA Ram, I am a true fan of the Rams and actually hope that they win. I’m not on this message board pretending to be a fan in order to fulfill some hidden agenda beknownst only to myself.

    Drat!

I should have known YOU’D see through my evil little plan, Nittany Ram. It has taken me 40 years of watching these hated Rams and many more years of quietly infiltrating this board and slowly…slowly….planting the seeds of pessimism and despair in a stealthy manner–all to bring down Rams Nation into a deep dark pit of doubt so that one day they would all grow weary and tired of this feeling and jump to the CFL and cheer for my true love…the Toronto Argonauts!!!!!

    You bastard!

    Go Argos!!!!!!!!

I am not optimistic about tomorrow’s game.

I am optimistic for the season.

I hope I am wrong about the first feeling and right about the second one.

Once again Mac, you are exactly right.

That name stinks. I refuse to use it.

Put that with another awful nickname and you could have a bluegrass band:

“Would you all please welcome, GREG THE LEG AND SACK CITY!”

And how easily is “sack” changed to “suck” for opposing teams?

I can’t think of any great names right now–or probably–ever but there HAS to be something better than this.

How about the old Matt Helm flick…”The Wrecking Crew”?

No one moves the ball against “The Wrecking Crew”.

    “Guardians of the Endzone”?

Okay–I can only think in movie terms right now.

“The Wrecking Crew” can be the fallback option or maybe “The Orkin Men” (They exterminate–get it)

It’s harder than I thought but I don’t care–I will NOT use “Sack City.”

    Nope.

I have no interest in the “trade up for a big-name phenom or hope for a bad record to draft same” approach to this. For one thing, I see them picking between 14 and 20. Around there, in that area.

    I agree with that.

Pick a guy by at least round two and I’ll be happy.

I have a chess app on my phone. I have beaten the thing twice in perhaps 40 games.

This is at the beginner level.

I have played chess for years. And have sucked at it for years. I have not studied games or players of defenses or moves.

    I merely go on instinct.

Hopefully the Rams have a different strategy.

I want to see crisp play–to know that this team is healthy and prepared.

I want to see a team that makes sure tackles, that is disciplined and smart, a team that doesn’t kill themselves with dumb penalties in key situations.

I want the line to be able to move people for Stacy and Cunningham, for the playmakers to make plays.

If that happens they WILL win.

I feel terrible for Sam. That really sucks. IMO the Rams really need to draft a true successor next year. I just don’t think they can stay in limbo forever, waiting, holding their breath. This doesn’t mean they can’t restructure Sam’s deal to be friendly and workable. They can see how it goes next year while the QB of the future sits, learns. With rookie contracts lower, I don’t see why that isn’t possible. If Sam proves to be able to go and the rookie looks good, there is still trade value there.

But they can’t just go with Sam and hope things are okay. Something has to happen. And I’m sure it will.

As for Pettis–very nice. He took a pay cut. How does that happen? It’s interesting because he has to be near the bottom of the receivers in the pecking order. I mean–is he even guaranteed a spot when Bailey gets back? With the lower salary maybe it helps them keep the extra receiver? How many did they carry last year? 5 or 6? I think it was Austin, Givens, Bailey, Quick and Pettis.

No, “The Walking Dead” defense will generate no sacks and allow 700 yards a game. But they will bite.

A better AMC channel name for them would be “Mad Men” or maybe “Hell on Wheels”(although they’d have to play on roller skates for that to make any sense–not good).

    That’s just great.

AP with a chip on his shoulder. I want to see a happy, quiet, bored and disinterested AP on Sunday.

Oh and I’m sorry but this whole “Sack City” thing? Hate it. It sounds like an ABC dramady about bag boys in a local supermarket. Ugh.

At least the Jets have “Sons of Anarchy” which is of course an FX show about a biker gang.

And since that show is taken–what about “Shark Tank”? That sounds intimidating. Or maybe “The Strain”. The “Under the Dome” defense. Okay–that last one fits but it is kinda dumb.

But who do you think AP would rather face? “Sons of Anarchy” or “Sack City”?

Something needs to be done about this immediately. Forget gameplans–get a better name.
