LA has 2 NFL teams, 2 MLB, 2 NBA, 2 NHL, 2 MLS, 2 NCAA FB. Never mind all the non-sports attractions. That’s just the competition for sports identity.
as well as college sports. usc and ucla being the top two universities. but also pepperdine and others i’m probably forgetting.
but it’s not just the rams. whenever i go to the dodgers cardinals games in la there is a large contingent of cardinals fans. always. i’ve been there when the giants come to town and there’s a swath of giants fans attending. not quite to the degree of rams games but the dodgers are the dodgers. it would take a long time for the rams to reach that kind if status in this town.
InvaderRamModeratoryou should definitely see a game there one day. i was fortunate enough to get a pair of tickets to the seahawks game. on the home side. but at the very back of the stadium. it was a very enjoyable experience. better than i thought it could be. and that monstrous screen does enhance the viewing experience for sure.
InvaderRamModeratorIan Rapoport@RapSheetmaybe he and caley can continue to develop davis allen. they’re gonna need him next season.
InvaderRamModeratoranother hire. jerry schuplinski. senior offensive assistant.
InvaderRamModeratorsaw this on reddit. apparently scheelhaase was working with mostly freshmen his first year as a coordinator.
In Scheelhaase’s only season as offensive coordinator, the Cyclones averaged 26.2 points per game — up from 20.2 in 2022 — and went 7-6 overall in 2023, 6-3 in the Big 12 Conference.
Somebody here also mentioned it was with a bunch of freshmen.
InvaderRamModeratori’m guessing that’s kind if an assistant head coach role? at least that’s what it sounded like when he was at tennessee. he was described as vrabel’s right hand man.
still need a qb coach/pass coordinator and lb coach. and an assistant st coach.
InvaderRamModeratortee hee.
InvaderRamModeratori can sleep a little easier this offseason.

InvaderRamModeratori’ll be interested to see how all our rookies approach their sophomore seasons. what a season though. most fun in awhile. maybe even more fun than the 2021 season.
InvaderRamModeratorA name I;ve heard mentioned is this guy: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/jackson-powers-johnson-draft-scouting-2024/
yes. i’d be very much in favor of the rams trading back and picking him.
InvaderRamModeratorA point of clarity on Shelton: He is not yet technically an unrestricted free agent, though could become one if he decides to void the last year in his contract. He has until late February to decide, shortly before the new league year begins.
so he’s not necessarily a free agent yet? well that changes things if he decides to stay.
InvaderRamModeratorspecial team too actually. but blackburn is the main culprit and he’s still here. so hopefully he can turn it around. the rams need to spend some resources on a kicker though. that was a mess.
InvaderRamModeratorlooks like assistant head coach, qb coach, lb/pass rush coordinator are the big openings that they have to fill. maybe peetz gets promoted to qb coach? i’d thing lb/pass rush coordinator would have to be a big position to fill. although shula hasn’t gone anywhere. just a promotion. but still would be nice to get another pair of eyes and a voice in there. pass rush wasn’t exactly frightening last year.
InvaderRamModeratorOkay that clarifies it, though I think I am generally more positive about Jackson than you are.
i think you are too. i mean i’m satisfied with how he’s done, but i’m not against upgrading that position. but yes there are other positions that are more of a need.
but trade back and get five picks in the first three rounds? that may be the best option if they can find someone to trade with.
InvaderRamModeratorgotta pick the best player available for me. if it happens to be tackle you do it. if you can get a potential franchise left tackle you do not pass on that. jackson is not that.
although honestly at this point i’m in favor of trading down. there’s so many prospects better to get extra picks and target as many positions as you can.
the guy from yale i mentioned is definitely not a first round pick. and since he can’t test in the preseason due to injury he might even be available in the third round. trade down and just accumulate more picks.
InvaderRamModeratorIf one of those picks were early enough, they could probably trade down, pick up another second, and have five picks in the first two rounds.
maybe they still should trade. even if it only means a third rounder or even a fourth rounder. just stock up. the rams have found some gems in the middle rounds as we all found out.
InvaderRamModeratoralso there’s this kid from yale. kiran amegadjie. interesting prospect. 6’5″ 326 pounds. 36 3/4″ arms. interested to see how he tests out. but supposed to be very athletic. explosive on tape.
actually just read he had a season ending quad injury. invited to senior bowl but wondering if he’ll be able to test.

InvaderRamModeratorby the way billy t. espn has kingsley going on the second round so he might be there. this might be the draft for the rams to hand pick their left tackle of the future.
that same mock draft shows dejean being available at 19 who i’d love to see on the rams as well.
InvaderRamModeratorJust a guess, but they’re not gonna all go in the 1st. Too many of them.
you know who i like on that list? tyler guyton. converted from defensive tackle. probably a bit of a project but had a fantastic senior bowl practice. don’t know about his speed but big and long.
espn has him going to the rams at 19.

InvaderRamModeratorOne of the players I’m seeing making a crazy jump up boards already is Darius Robinson, from Missouri, who’s gone from a likely 4th or 5th rounder to a possible 1st, with a lot of help from the Senior Bowl. He’d be excellent for the Rams cuz he can play all across the line, including edge. A legit 6’5″, nearly 290. Probably could lose or gain weight as needed.
interesting. i wouldn’t mind seeing him in a rams uni.
InvaderRamModeratorAlso: If the Rams want to take a gamble on greatness at tackle, there’s Kingsley Suamataia (BYU), who may be the most athletically gifted, freakish linemen his size in a generation. Right now, he’s probably a late 1st, early 2nd rounder, so McSnead might hear some screams from the fanbase if they stick and pick him at #19. Trade down, and it makes a ton of sense. He may need a redshirt year, but you just don’t find many human beings who can beat 21mph on the GPS tracker at 6’6″, 318. He did that last year, according to Bruce Feldman’s freak list . . . and is up to 325 now. Incredibly strong, agile, etc.
if he is that i don’t think he’ll be available late first or second. but then. maybe someone will be willing to trade up to get him giving the rams the opportunity to pick up another draft pick. or they just pick him at 19.
InvaderRamModeratorthey need to hit on 4 picks this draft. they’ve got four in the first three rounds. those are not bad odds. maybe they even trade back from that first round pick. i get the sense that this draft class is stronger than last year’s.
January 28, 2024 at 7:39 pm in reply to: watching/reacting to/thoughts on: the conference games #149105InvaderRamModeratorThe media is gonna decorticate Lamar all week.
wasn’t lamar responsible for two of those turnovers?
i still think he’s a great qb, but he screwed up.
InvaderRamModeratorravens db coach dennard wilson interviewing with rams.
InvaderRamModeratori’m not sure how i feel about this.
InvaderRamModeratorWithout Wms it honestly doesn’t matter who else you draft in rounds 1-3. That’s why I am so adamant about them hopefully getting a 1B back. They need a back they can win with even when Wms is out. And if Wms isn’t out, having 2 backs, a 1A and a 1B, is a good thing. After round 3 it is dicey on picking RBs. In fact, Wms aside, the last good, productive RB the Rams drafted after round 3 was …drumroll … nobody. Wms is the only RB picked after round 3 to make something of himself in the entire history of Rams drafting, from 1937 to 2023.
i just don’t think it’s worth it to draft an rb 1b in the first three rounds. but maybe the rams will think differently. strengthening in other areas can help the team if the rams are to lose williams for a short period of time. and it will have the added benefit of making the team better when he is in the team healthy as well.
InvaderRamModeratorIt has to be round 2 or 3.
i differ slightly. and although the rams were very close to beating the lions. and they were very close to beating the heavily favored ravens, they still need help on the offensive line, in the secondary and a pass rusher. i think a backup running back will have to be later if they don’t think it’s evans. although they do have an extra third rounder so maybe there. if williams misses four or five games due to injury the rams will have to adjust. if williams faces an injury worse than that. like season ending. then it almost doesn’t matter. i think kyren is that good.
or again. the rams can opt to trade back. which again i wouldn’t be against it.
InvaderRamModeratorI was pondering a week or so ago about what this offense would be like with Steven Jackson in his prime.
it woulda been something else.
InvaderRamModeratorIn my view they need another back of roughly his caliber.
that’s easier said than done. i think kyren is pretty special. but yes. i get the concern. i do still wonder about evans. i haven’t given up on him.
InvaderRamModeratorRams have requested an interview with Cowboys DL coach Aden Durde. Not a name that was on many people’s radar.
interesting. i trust they’ll find the right guy. i’d prefer continuity. but again. complete faith that mcvay will find the best guy.
