They still need to fill the very vital “Assistant to the Quality Control Assistant’s Assistant.”
Until they fill that supremely important spot I can’t say I see a Superbowl happening anytime soon.
At least not until late january or early february.

August 1, 2015 at 10:08 pm in reply to: It's very early but…observations from camp posts on Mannion #27920bnwBlockedWhat is the issue with hammer? Does hammer have good insight at training camp? Imagine paying Mannion as a starting QB while winning ala Wilson and the Seahawks!
Over the years there have been a few good regular camp observers. All of them have their tendencies and ways of seeing things. None of them are always right, though they will tell you that themselves. What’s notable here is that a few different regular observers–Jimi, Mike Franke, and hammer—all see the guy doing good things. They have all been good observers over the years, but my thing is, if they are all 3 seeing something, I would be surprised if there were nothing to it.
But that assumes all three are looking at the same thing at the same time and from the same angle with similar eyesight or optics. Good luck with that.

July 27, 2015 at 10:54 am in reply to: Was Nick Foles A Bad Fit For Philly? & other Foles speculations #27627bnwBlockedThe chatty Cathy’s talking crap about Foles long after the trade while raising a shit storm at the time of the trade. Pathetic.
Okay. But IMO this is all just “prior to camp, where do teams stand at qb” stuff. We’re just not posting it for all 32 teams. No one is complaining about the trade or saying it was a bad one. We always knew there were questions about 2014. There’s a mix of different answers to that I think.
My comment was directed at the comments questioning Foles ability to do the work, to accept being coached, handling criticism and so on. The reaction at the time of the trade Philly was that they didn’t want to trade Foles. Now when he’s been out of town they want to tear him down? To what? Build up Bradford? Kelly? It’s pathetic.

What did you find pathetic? Just curious. I don’t have any stake in any of these pieces in this thread, just posting them…I just wonder what’s on your mind.

July 26, 2015 at 6:47 pm in reply to: the Seattle approach–what is the relative value of a great 2ndary v. a great DL #27607bnwBlockedSeahawks have Wilson at QB and Lynch at RB to extend drives. Their defense is incapable of winning without a well functioning offense.
Fwiw we just differ on that. To me, it’s that Wilson has Lynch and that defense.
Wilson keeps those drives alive more so than Lynch. That defense without Wilson leading the offense does not win the NFC.

bnwBlockedSorry but it still doesn’t make any sense. Especially since a mask is used. Everyone has a skull and it isn’t a choice. A mask to hide a skull?
It’s not literal. It’s metaphorical. If flesh is a mask to hide a skull, that means many things…including (among others) that beauty is only a mask hiding our vulnerability and mortality.
Huh? Flesh is skin which covers a skull. Do not need a mask.
You’re thinking too literally about what the skull and flesh represent. You have to soften the strict and specific definitions of skin, flesh, skull, etc. This sculpture wasn’t meant to be a supplement to a Grey’s Anatomy text. It’s not about the literal meaning of those things. Here’s one interpretation. The skull represents our inner self with all of its ugliness (and mortality and vulnerability as zn said). There are many metaphors that work with the skull. And skulls all look the same. It’s the mask of flesh that gives us a face and therefore the illusion of being different or unique. But inside we all look the same and none of us can escape what we truly are inside.
I see nothing ugly about a skull. To convey what meaning you describe why not eliminate the head altogether holding a mask up to nothing?

If I may kid around?
Intelligently allocated resources wins accounting contests.
Hiring Billichick and drafting Brady wins championships.
Teams that did not go as spendthrift as the Patz also won championships.
Including New Orleans (2nd on the list), Green Bay (5th), and Baltimore (18th).
Belichick is a resource. He could have been hired away but Kraft paid him. Seattle was quite low on the list too. If you wish to dance on a pin about this I’ll say The most intelligently allocated resources in 2014 wins championships. And absolutely no edible cake for you. I’m not kidding. To the closet with you stand in the corner nose on the corner light off door closed.

bnwBlockedWhy is flesh only missing from the head and neck?
IMO? it;s a “mask” trope. Also it allows for greater contrast. The world of luxuriant beauty, v. skull, plus mask = more contrast. Not the same if it’s just an entire skeleton.
Yeah. I think the sculptor is saying we try to hide the ugliness of our true selves from others and/or what we see is illusion – the reality is hidden, etc…there are a dozen variations of this theme the sculpture could depict.

bnwBlockedI don’t believe it but I won’t condemn him either. The NFL used the horrific hits to make money for the NFL. So did the players. Teams and players wanted to be on the highlights show each week giving a hard hit. This was throughout the league and has been forever. It is a much more exciting play, an as yet unnamed porn. But whenever a player makes a hit as a tackle the chance of injury is increased. To both players and players nearby. If player safety is a real concern within the league then tackling has to be made with the hands by tripping or wrapping up with the arms. No hits. No exceptions. But that will never happen.
