AgamemnonParticipantHear from pass game coordinator Shane Waldron as the Rams prepare to take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football.
I believe it id Waldron, not Kromeer.

AgamemnonParticipantThe Rams had a choice. They could have kneeled on first, second, and third down, then kicked a FG if running clock and Time outs was the most important consideration.
A TD is probably worth 2 minutes on the clock. imo-

AgamemnonParticipantYes Vince, but if they hadn’t made the TD, the Lions would have only need a TD to win. But when they score the Td that forces the lions to do 3 things to win. Score, on side kick, and score again. Really hard to do that even with a time out and the 2 minute warning.
Not sure about that Ag. I think you can assume Rams would at least get a FG there. That would have made it 26-16 at that point. Even with a TD and a 2 pointer that’s 26-24.
Your right. Somehow I was thinking the Rams had a 3 point lead when they actually had a 7 point lead. But still, I think scoring the TD was just as good as not scoring. In the end they still scored the TD. Getting the first down was the biggest deal.
Once again, Gurley stopped short of the end zone, passing up a touchdown and driving fantasy owners into despair. (After all, this week was the final week of the fantasy football regular season.)
One problem though: Gurley probably shoulda just scored. His non-score came with over two minutes remaining in a one-score game. His Rams couldn’t run out the clock—they had to score again to seal the game. Because of Gurley’s short stop, the Rams had to run two more offensive plays, running the risk of a botched snap or fumble that could’ve given the Lions life.
Everything worked out OK: Gurley punched in a touchdown two plays later. The Rams won, and Gurley put up 28.5 fantasy points, probably getting all his fantasy owners into the playoffs. But I’m worried Gurley is going a little bit too far in his attempts to appear unselfish. I appreciate the critical thinking that has led him to stop short, but most of the time scoring a touchdown is the best thing to do.

By not scoring that TD when he first had the chance, Gurley forced #Lions to use their final timeout. Had he scored it then rather than now they get the ball back with a timeout and the two-minute warning left.Yes Vince, but if they hadn’t made the TD, the Lions would have only need a TD to win. AgamemnonParticipantDarious Williams might be another redshirt type player.

How good was his pro day? Top-10 cornerback good.
Williams’ finished his pro day workout with a 4.44 second 40-yard dash (tied for No. 9 among combine top CB performers), a 39” vertical jump (tying for second-best CB jump at the combine) and a 6.84 second 3-cone drill (would’ve put him at No. 10 among CBs at the combine).

CB Aqib Talib Designated to Return from IR
Myles Simmons
It’s looking more and more like the Rams could have one of their star defenders back in time for Week 13.
Los Angeles officially designated cornerback Aqib Talib to return from injured reserve on Monday. The five-time Pro Bowler will return to practice this week, with the Rams coming off their bye.
Cornerback (21) Aqib Talib of the Los Angeles Rams against the Los Angeles Chargers during the Rams 35-23 victory over the Chargers in an NFL Week 3 football game, Sunday, September 23, 2018, in Los Angeles, CA. (Jeff Lewis/Rams)Since Talib went on IR after suffering an ankle injury against the Chargers back in Week 3, it’s always been expected that he would be one of the two players L.A. would designate to return. But now that it’s official, the Rams are slated to get one of their key defensive pieces back on the field just in time for the stretch run to the postseason.
Prior to his injury, Talib recorded two passes defensed and a forced fumble in his first three games as a Ram.
Talib was voted as a captain by his peers at the start of the regular season.
Coming off their bye week, the Rams return to the field for a walk-thru on Monday. Head coach Sean McVay is scheduled to address the media at 1:15 p.m.

AgamemnonParticipantI watched about 2 minutes. Then I felt he had nothing really intelligent to say, so I quit wasting my time.
Watch from the 5 minute mark to 8 minutes. That is the core argument. He started with his weakest point and worked his way to his strongest points.
You have to have a mechanism to start play. Maybe you can do like they did for the jumpball in basketball. Just eliminate it. I don’t think you have ot have a kickoff. His stuff just doesn’t convince me that it is Stupid and Bad. I think kickoffs are ok. Show me something better.
AgamemnonParticipantDid you watch the video?
That – to me – was the big disadvantage to doing away with kickoffs. No onsides.
But what he proposes in lieu of kickoffs is that the team that scores gets the ball at…I think the 30…but it is 4th and 15, or 4th and 10. So they will usually punt. But they can go for it if they choose to. Either a fake punt, or line up and run with the QB. Either way, you have a regular football play with strategy. Onsides – all kickoffs, according to him – are just without strategy. Onsides are a fluke bounce. He builds a whole case on how kickoffs are stupid and bad (and the most dangerous play, even when a team takes a touchback).

AgamemnonParticipantrecovering a kick off for a TD has happened before. St. Louis vs Dallas. StL kicks off. Dallas has 2 guys back in the endzone. The ball fallss between them. They both figure the other guys is going to run the ball out and they take off to block for a return. StL recovers for a TD. The funniest thing I ever saw. The ball is just laying there and they are flying up field to block. LOL
It would not bother me if they took kickoffs out of the game, but then, what about onside kicks?

5) Going for the win by passing. I did the math. We run 3 times, gives them 65 second and no timeouts. They only need a FG to tie. 40-50 yards in 65 seconds is not difficult. They had scored TDs in 4 plays or less what … 4 times? Also factoring in? We can complete easy passes. I trust us completing easy passes because we have a great hands group. First down wins the game.
Just some extra stuff that doesn’t factor into this situation. If you use a time out when the opponent has the ball, you save ~45 seconds. If you have the ball, you only save ~15 seconds or the time it takes to line up and get a play off. In some situations, you want a time for insurance to get you FG kicked, if you need a FG.
