I don’t think RB is a high priority, but if we draft one, I hope it is this guy. He was a bit dinged this year and a bit slow in the combine, so he will be a drafted a lot lower than he deserves. 11 *TJ Yeldon 6-1.2 226 4.61 Alabama But then I have to hope I can get my QB in the 4th round. I think the top RBs will be over drafted.

This little board is always more of a ‘wait and see’ board.

This is the ‘nice’ board. We’re nice. Except for Ag.

Maybe we should trade down and take Cameron?

He is not just a guard. He could beat out Barksdale or replace Robinson if he got hurt. imo

I agree that he could probably play RT, but I’d hope for a trade down scenario if the Rams go this route. Don’t know if that’s possible this year though. I’m still Hoping for a Barksdale re-signing and then BPA in the first.

The Rams might very well trade down and draft somebody like Flowers or Clemmings. I like Collins a bit better than Scherff, myself. Many people would consider Scherff as BPA at ten. A lot of mock drafts have him going as high as number 6. He is consistently in the top ten of best players in this draft. If he was just a Guard I would agree, but I see him as more than that. The guy that I would really like at 10 is Cooper.

I think Fisher might see this guy as a possible future replacement for Laurinaitis.

Here is a detailed look at Brandon Scherff.

====================
VRENTAS: In 2013 you threw 27 touchdowns and two interceptions. Before you got hurt last season, you threw 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Which of those quarterbacks is the real Nick Foles?

FOLES: Both of them. Those are all me. I don’t want to turn the ball over. I want to throw touchdowns, and I want to help our offense move the ball and get the ball in the end zone. Every single rep I have ever taken, that’s always been the guy who I want to be. I am not going to sit here and tell you that 2013 is exactly [who I am as a quarterback]. I’ve grown since both of those years. I’m a better player, a better person, a better athlete. I know everybody is going to analyze [the different stat lines] until the cows come home. But I’m not worried about that. I just want to work here and be successful here

I would be stunned if the Rams made any effort to get Mariotta. In fact, if somehow he fell to #10 I would find it more likely they would trade the pick. I mean–they might take him at #10. It’s not impossible. But I just think they would rather move forward with Foles, Keenum and maybe a lower QB.

But I see no way they try to move up for him.

And if Wisenhunt liked Foles why didn’t the Eagles strike a deal with them?

I see the Browns as the most likely team to try to make a move for him.

Right.

Even with the obvious need, I do not want the Rams to draft a guard at ten. I’m a fan of Scherff, but there are good guards to be had in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

He is not just a guard. He could beat out Barksdale or replace Robinson if he got hurt. imo

I listened to the radio thing and all I could think about when they started talking compensation for Rivers was, boy, the RG3 trade really changed the landscape on trades.

I think this is a wide open draft. I don’t see a lot of separate between players. It is a good draft for need and value to meet. We should be able to pick offensive lineman and get value at the same time. imo

John Mara: The free agents available this year were “mediocre”
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 20, 2015, 6:17 AM EDT

The Giants have not made a big splash in free agency, focusing more on shoring up roster depth than attracting star players. Giants owner John Mara says the reason for that is simple: This year’s free agent class isn’t very good.

“There were obviously some star players out there, but for the most part I thought it was a mediocre free-agent class,” Mara told the New York Post.

Rams should move on. Go with somebody on the roster or draft a center. He is not a difference maker. He is not that much better than what we have. I would rather save the cap space. I see no real value there.

I will send you one. I quit using them cause they are super hard to delete and I get no notification when I receive one.

Is that what we’re settling for? Barnes? I don’t recall him doing much.

And then there is the Jones enigma. Who knows? I am profoundly skeptical of the guy, but then we have seen so little of him.

Damn, I am tired of lousy OL play. A freaking decade of it.

I remember how Fisher’s Titans would run with power. And I keep wondering when Fisher will compile enough talent to do it FOR US rather than TO US.

According to Coach O we had 4 centers last year and they all were hurt. So, who knows what we have there. I agree. I want the offensive line to be the strongest position on the team and we seem to be stuck with it being the weakest. If we drafted two premium players there this year we might be set, but it appears that Fisher is setting things up to only draft one, if we sign Barksdale. imo

Barnes should be cheap too. They could have tendered him as a RFA at ~1.5 million. They didn’t. So, they plan to spend less than that if they sign him. imo

Thanks, Ag.

Affordable. But, still, roughly 1/11 of our cap space?

Need to sign some starters soon …

1 out of 143. Cap is about 143 million. His cap hit this year is 1 million. Then he can be cut next year with no dead money.

I have 4 guys that I would pick at 10:
*Amari Cooper WR Alabama
La’el Collins G/T LSU
Brandon Scherff OT Iowa
Kevin White WR West Virginia
If they are gone I would trade down as far as 20 and pick:
Cameron Erving C/T Florida State
*Shaq Thompson OLB Washington
Eric Kendricks ILB UCLA

Ag, I am wondering what the $ on Reynolds is. Does it make a dent in the cap margin? If so, that would probably suggest that they are projecting him to start. Yet his description makes him sound like a good swing guy for 2nd string. As a swing BUP, he may not punch too big a hole in the cap.

I am HOPING that they are planning on signing Joe B. and that they aren’t deluded.

But then we need an OC. Can Barnes be trusted with that key position?

I would expect minimum wage plus a modest bonus on a short term contract for Renyolds and Barnes. Barksdale at ~5 million for 4 years? I have no idea what they plan at center. I would try Jones and Barnes and draft one. I would also draft the best OT that I can.
