AgamemnonParticipantSiberian Ways. Big Log Fire
That’s clearly an analogy. I am just not sure what it says. Explain? Thanks.
.
It is a lot more fire than your regular boy scout teepee fire. It is radical. It is cool. 😉
What kind of fires do you build in Maine?

AgamemnonParticipantJust speculating but it is entirely possible that Oakland game-planned the Rams whereas the Rams were just in normal pre-season mode.
Why would Oakland do that? It’s a good motivator for Del Rio to remind them about 52-0 and go get some payback.
Now of course as I said this is pure speculation. Meaning, anyone who dares disagree with this true insight of mine is not a real Rams fan.
.
Oakland’s OL surprised me. I didn’t think it was that good.
AgamemnonParticipantI like that Tavon just went out of bounds
and didnt risk injury in a preseason game.w
vTavon still has some juice.

AgamemnonParticipantI dunno. I just never draw many conclusions from game one.
Its always a ridiculous game. Just a lot of chaos as far
as the ‘team’ aspect. We ‘do’ know that the Rams are not the Patriots
and Foles is not Brady. But can they win ten games
and be a playoff team? Nothing in preseason-game-one
helps answer that. And i would say that if they
had won the game 18-3.w
vYeah, I am not saying that is reality, but that is what reality looked like last night. Today it might look different.
If you were from Mars and last night was your first football game, who is the better team?

AgamemnonParticipantI dunno, but I wonder if Foles has that “it” factor — that “Bert Jones factor” — ie, the ability
to ‘inspire’ players around him. To make them play harder, and better, and focus more. Some leaders just seem to have that ‘intangible’ inspiration-thingy. I think. I dunno.
But there are ‘hints’ and shadowy whispers that maybe Foles might possibly
have…that…thing. I mean, when i read the stuff the Eagle players
said about him, there were hints about that. And some of the stuff
‘some’ of the Ram players are saying hint at that.If he has ‘that thing’ it could bode well for the fourth quarter.
Maybe. Perhaps. I was not here. I did not say any of this…w
vDo intangibles really exist? What does science say?

AgamemnonParticipantI have to watch the replay.
And I’ll be working at 10 anyway.
Was going to check in on my phone–IF it holds a charge.
Just realized that I was charging it last night–without the cord being plugged in. Didn’t work so great.
This is preseason. 😉
AgamemnonParticipantI view Foles as incomplete. I think he needs this year and next to learn stuff and demonstrate who he really is. This is only his fourth year. What he does in 2016 will define him for me. He is definitely better than what we had last year. He did go to the playoffs and I think he won a game. He has some comebacks victories, I think.
He has good arm. He has some touch. He doesn’t get passes blocked at the line. He throws a catchable ball.
I am not sure how well he reads defenses or goes through his progressions. He accuracy seems average. He doesn’t hit the center of the target. imo
We will quickly see his decision making in action.

This early projection of the 2016 draft might influence which future FAs we try to extend and keep.
4 – DEs
4 – OTs
3 – CBs
3 – QBs
3 – DTs
all in the top 25 players.

We will probably have 3 picks in the top 50. imo
It appears that we can get value at CB, DE, DT with all of our first 3 picks. At each pick there will be a choice of any of th0se 3 positions, at least using this projection.Of course their might be a better player at some other position that trumps a DE, CB, or DT, that is fine too. In the end, me and Snead are picking players, not positions. 😉

AgamemnonParticipantI think they need a running game for this defense to be top 5. This whole team needs a running game. It is how they are built.
Which means they need a passing game
so teams wont put 12 men in the box.So, thus, the Defense depends
on the passing game.w
vGivens is our secret weapon.

Barrett JonesDrafted By: Rams
Round 4
Pick 16
Overall 113Draft Analysis:
The long-armed Jones, a four-year starter at Alabama, won the Rimington Trophy, which is given to the best center in the country, in 2012. He projects as a long-time contributor at the NFL level.
6’4″ Height
34 1/8″ Arm Length
306LBS. Weight
10 1/4″ HandsOverview
The key to Barrett Jones lengthy career at Alabama has been versatility. Alabama head coach Nick Saban has compared the four year starter to NFL great Bruce Matthews, who famously played all five offensive line positions in the NFL. Jones, too, played all five offensive line positions during his four years starting at Alabama. The medical redshirt was made necessary by an injury to his right shoulder three games into his first year on campus. He then started all 14 contests at right guard as a redshirt freshman for Nick Saban’s first BCS champion Tide squad in 2009. For his redshirt sophomore season, Jones earned third-team All-American honors from the Associated Press, as well as first-team All-SEC mention from league media for his play as a sophomore. He started 11 games that year, missing the final two regular season contests with a high ankle sprain. He earned third-team All-American honors from the Associated Press, as well as first-team All-SEC mention from league media for his play as a sophomore. He started 11 games that year, missing the final two regular season contests with a high ankle sprain.
Jones made the rare switch from right guard to left tackle in 2011 to replace James Carpenter, a first-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks. He handled the transition so well (while also playing left guard, right tackle and center at times) for the Bowl Championship Series champions that he received the Outland Trophy as the nations best interior lineman as well as the SECs Jacob Blocking Trophy, given to the leagues best lineman. He also possesses the intelligence and high character NFL offensive line coaches desire in their prospects, finishing his degree in accounting in just three years, and won the Wuerffel Trophy for his play on the field and work in the academic and community service worlds.
His final year on campus featured another move, this time to the center position. He capped the year off with another consensus selection to the All-American and All-SEC teams, as well as winning the Rimington Trophy (awarded to the nations top center), despite a Lisfranc injury limiting his mobility over the second half of the season.
AnalysisStrengths Possesses NFL size for an interior player. Solid pass protector whether playing inside or outside, plays with a wide base, mirrors and anchors effectively by keeping his feet moving and extends his arms to stay engaged. Good hip extension in the run game. Gets correct angle to create running lane when blocking on the move, can also create space inside by moving his man out of the hole using his hands and bulk. Able to seal the tackle and then work to linebackers close to the line on combo blocks. Can reach the 3-technique defensive tackle from the center spot. Fits on second-level blocks very well in the run game. Very good football and general intelligence. Great awareness of late blitzers and twist stunts, and he gives excellent effort to reach free rushers so his quarterback stays upright.
Weaknesses Limited athlete who will be at his best on the inside at the next level. Tends to stop his feet and lunge at pass rushers on the edge. Top-heavy, upright runner on pulls without great foot speed. Gets to the second level well, but can struggle tracking and adjusting to moving targets. Quicker linebackers and defensive backs jump around his lunges if he is unable to get his hands on their numbers. Inconsistent firing out of his stance and staying low on short-yardage plays. Hand placement improved in his senior season, but he has soft hands with a limp punch. Doesnt play with a mean streak. Can get complacent and will fight for initial position, but doesnt finish blocks and allows his man to disengage too often. Prone to making his initial block and then ball-watching instead of finding a second target. Has a lengthy injury history (but shows the toughness to play through them) and will need to check out medically.
NFL Comparison Daryn ColledgeBottom Line 2012 Rimington and 2011 Outland Trophy winner has played every spot on the line while helping the Tide win three BCS championships in the last four years. Has spent most of his time on the interior, which is where he projects best in the NFL. While not the strongest or most athletic lineman, Jones versatility, intelligence and high character should get him penciled in at guard or center for the next decade in the NFL.
I still like Jones. I still like Pead. I still like Candidate and St. Clair. 😉

AgamemnonParticipantNumbers in on Foles contract
http://www.stltoday.com/sports/football/professional/numbers-in-on-foles-contract/article_868aeeaa-4b64-5f1f-945c-a8a6fc8b8e07.html
43 minutes ago • By Jim ThomasThe contract numbers are in for Rams quarterback Nick Foles, and as advertised, they show his contract extension _ signed last week _ is worth $26 million over three years with $13.79 million guaranteed.
He receives a renegotiation signing bonus of $3 million, with roster bonuses of $2 million this year, $6 million in 2016, and $1.5 million in 2017.
Foles makes $1.042 million in base salary this year, $1.75 million in ’16, and then his base jumps to $10.75 million in 2017.
His salary cap numbers are as follows: $4.068 million in 2015, $8.75 million in ’16, and $13.25 million in ’17.
His previous cap number for 2015, prior to the renegotiation, was $1.5 million. So putting extra dollars into ’15 leaves the Rams with $4.6 million of salary cap space according to figures filed with the NFL Players Association.
In each of the three years of the contract, Foles can earn an additional $4.5 million in incentives based on Pro Bowl honors, playing time, playoff appearances, and club/individual rankings.
Although not likely, if all those incentives are met over the three-year term of the contract, Foles’ deal could max out at $39.5 million.
Overlooked by most in the initial media coverage of the extension is the fact that Foles can void the final year _ 2017 _ of his contract. In order to void, Foles must achieve 50 percent playing time in the 2015 and ’16 seasons, and either reach the playoffs, reach a certain amount of wins, or make the Pro Bowl.
