AgamemnonParticipantThe Rams have 3 QB coaches on their staff, if you count Garcia, who was almost hired as a QB coach. Weinke, he is the official QB coach and Cignetti who was the QB coach. So, they should know who Foles is and what he can do.
They are probably having Foles do what he does best when it comes to calling plays and what routes the WRs run.
Foles still has a lot to learn about playing QB in the NFL. As things progress they should start having Foles do more things and he should get more reps and execute better. imo
AgamemnonParticipantKnow it's early, but next Sunday's game pits NFC current No. 6 seed (Minnesota) against No. 7 (Rams).

AgamemnonParticipantUgliest Show on Turf? …or..GSOT – Gurleyest Show on Turf ?

w
vCan’t even claim that. SF is uglier. OK, we are the ugliest winning team on turf. We play on turf. We win with defense and running.

AgamemnonParticipantDue to roster moves and different figures from web sites and other adjustments, the current cap estimate for 2016 has changed. It is now 34.5 million for 11 UFAs. That is still plenty to do anything we want. imo
..
You can go here and use this link if you don’t trust my shortcut estimate. 😉 http://overthecap.com/calculator/?Team=RamsWe can use the franchise tag if we choose.
If we sign everybody, that will be more than 53 players on the roster and what are we going to do with the players we draft next year?
The players that we don’t sign could give us comp picks.-

AgamemnonParticipantOk. But i kinda thot DT was pretty close
to a ‘need’ last year. But i get what yer saying.I’m hoping need and talent line up in the
next draft. The offseason is gonna be ‘very’ inter esting,
what with Chris Long, and Janoris and Barron
and Saffold, etc up for grabs. What’s yer opinion on keeping or jettisoning
Chris Long?My own view is, if Snisher thinks they are
seriously in the running for a Ring next year,
then keep him. …i bet Belichex would dump him.w
vLong is in the maybe category, him and Laurinaitis and Saffold. I think talent and need do match up in the next draft. It is just that not everyone see the needs the same way. Anyway there are a lot of options to go in a bunch of different directions.
Lets look at WRs. Not too many teams seem to NEED a WR. There are a lot of them in the draft, although nobody to match a franchise WR like Cooper. Some of them could be #1’s. Doctson reminds me of Bruce. I like the TE Evan Engram as a WR as much as Treadwell. I like Travin Dural as much as about any WR. Chances are one of them is there in the 2cd round. imo
alyoshamucci does well on draft stuff. Look at his stuff.
Barron is making himself real valuable. But we have Alexander. Who we keep has to do with getting value from cap dollars. Again, that is not seen the same by everybody and there are lots of good ways to handle that. I don’t think we can predict how that will go at this time.
AgamemnonParticipantSeriously? You would draft DEFENSE with the first and second picks?
w
vI draft players. Me and Snead draft players, not positions. I might use the first 3 picks on defense, depending on how the draft plays out. It is sort of like, did we need Donald when we drafted him? When I draft, talent trumps, especially in the first 2 rounds. Talent and my opinion. 😉
AgamemnonParticipantI’d consider OLB, if we are at 20. If Myles Jack is healthy, and can pass test, Jack and Olgetree as OLBs could be a nightmare too teams, and at 20, a perfect fit. I feel we will be OK at CB. I predict we sign either Jenkins or Johnson, and play them along side with EJ Gaines. In round 2, which we will have two 2nd rounders.
As of now, based on how I see it for the first 4 rounds,
1. pick 20 – Myles Jack OLB UCLA – slides due to injury, and other team needs.
2a. pick 39 – OJ Howard TE Alabama
2b. pick 42 – Jonathan Bullard DE Florida
3. pick 64 – Pat Elflein OG Ohio State
4. pick 86 – Ricky Seals-Jones WR Texas A&MThat would work too, Jack. The point of this thread is that the Rams are in good shape. There are a lot of different ways this could happen and be good. My last post is just my own opinion. Yours counts just as much.
AgamemnonParticipantThe way this years draft lays out. I am going best CB, best DE, TE, then WR, in that order. I might take two if good ones are available. I won’t pass on Cook, if he is there. It is early, but right now that looks like it maximizes the talent and it is independent of whoever I can sign as FAs. imo
ps, I am cutting Cook. 😉

AgamemnonParticipantWill Jim Tomsula eventually have to bench Colin Kaepernick?
Who besides Kaepernick can kill the moles?
This is the same QB who led SF to consecutive playoff wins
over the Packers. And now he’s a mole-killer ?
How does that happen?I actually like Kaepernick. I just can’t get over the mole killing. lmao

AgamemnonParticipantForgot to mention this earlier. Rams safety T.J. McDonald (shoulder) did not practice.

This is a bit easier to read.
Most teams need OTs, CBs, and the big one QBs. There seem to be a lot of CBs in this draft and more than a few DEs.
Now a couple notes.* If we cut some players.
Long saves ~12M for next year.
Cook saves ~13M over the next 2 years.
Laurinaitis saves ~14 over the next 2 years.
Saffold saves ~14 over the next 3 years. After yearly exspenses, I figure we have ~39M in cap space next year. If we cut those 4 players we add 26M in cap space in 2016. I am NOT making any recommendations right now, just throwing out information.
I am just showing that we can do virtually anything, as long as we don’t screw up future cap years. As far as cutting players, sooner or later they will be gone anyway. We have only 2 players signed for 2019, Quinn and Hekker.
The roster will keep churning. We have to look for value when we spend Cap Dollars and Talent in the Draft.
Our starting FAs are mostly CBs. A lot of teams need CBs. But, we have depth there and this draft seems to be rich in CBs. Not a lot of teams have DE as a high priority need. We have good depth there, but we can get talent there in the draft and some of our guys are getting older.
In fact, I believe we could draft any position in the draft and be fine, QB, WR, TE, LB, line, whatever. Just get talent.
We can sign or keep any of our players, but not all. What we don’t sign we find in the draft. Just get value. We are in a good place.
AgamemnonParticipant10 million??? I didn’t realize…. Now I get it….. I doubt they can afford him next year
The Rams have enough cap money next year, that they have a chance to keep most of their FAs. imo Maybe Barron will sign for 5 or 6 million? We just have to wait and see.
Mark Barron, May 3 2015, St. Louis declined an $8.263 million option for 2016.
AgamemnonParticipantProject for the season, that would give him over 2k yards.
oh no. that is for the season. hahaha!
again. not great. but his best season so far. and just hoping that he gets better as the season goes on.
that would be 1182 total yards and 14 touchdowns.
That would have been a monster year.

AgamemnonParticipantcurrently on pace for:
53 receptions 499 yards 8 tds
37 carries 320 yards 3 tds
37 punt returns 363 yards 3 tdsnot too bad… that’d be career highs in receiving and rushing. not spectacular. but he’s gotten a little better. hopefully he’s better the rest of the way.
Project for the season, that would give him over 2k yards.
AgamemnonParticipantI was really perplexed that they seemed to have big plans for him, yet declined his option.
His option would have cost ~10 million. Brockers option was only ~6 million, but Barron was a top 10 pick. That happened before the year started. Before he played better and before this last game.
AgamemnonParticipantRams have promoted DT Doug Worthington to the active roster from the practice squad, and released Jo-Lonn Dunbar.
— Jim Thomas (@jthom1) October 27, 2015
With 2 practice squad spots open, Rams have added DE Gerald Rivers and LB/DE Zack Hodges to the PS. Rivers was w/Rams briefly in 2013.
— Jim Thomas (@jthom1) October 27, 2015
Ok, that takes care of the roster and the practice.
AgamemnonParticipantOn today's transaction wire: Rams have re-signed S Christian Bryant to active roster. He takes Ogletree's spot.
— Nick Wagoner (@nwagoner) October 27, 2015
That takes care of Bryant. Now we need to who gets added to the practice squad. But that isn’t a big deal.
AgamemnonParticipantRams have finally made it official, putting LB Alec Ogletree (ankle/fibula) on the injured reserve/designated for return list.
— Jim Thomas (@jthom1) October 27, 2015
Ogletree isn't eligible to return to the active roster until Dec. 27 at Seattle, or Game 15.
— Jim Thomas (@jthom1) October 27, 2015
AgamemnonParticipantRams P Johnny Hekker quietly had a big game Sunday. Earned ESPN's Punter of the Week for second time this season for 48 yard net average.
— Nick Wagoner (@nwagoner) October 27, 2015
Three of Hekker's five punts ended with Cleveland beginning drives inside its 10-yard line.
