FYI: I tried to persuade #Rams G @Rodger_Saffold this years 3-1 start is different than last years. He wouldn’t bite (that’s a good thing)

If you focused simply on skill set: Arm, mechanics, footwork, vision. It’s always all been there. Goff just needed better infrastructure..

And don’t discount his toughness. This kid took a beating last year and never blinked or bitched. Did same in college. That’s important

And Goff’s not just a “game manager.” There have been “got-to-have-it” plays last 2 weeks where it was on his shoulders and he delivered

Les Snead deserves a ton of credit. He & McVay nailed free agency/draft. They flipped script in 1 off season. That’s impressive

McVay criticized himself as the play caller for two moments on Sunday. The first was the four straight passes after the Cooper KO return.

The second was the third and 4 at the end of the game, the Gurley run before the last Zuerlein FG.

McVay mentions the Rams were 1 of 4 in the red zone on TDs. Says he’s looking at himself as a play caller.

McVay mentions his team showed mental toughness in difficult spots vs. Washington, San Francisco and Dallas.

In Super Bowl era, biggest increase in scoring from one year to the next is 15.1 ppg by 1999 Rams. So far, 2017 Rams have 21.5-ppg increase.

More from ESPN Stats & Info: Gurley thru 4 gms in 2016: 90 touches, 274 yds, 2 TDs. Gurley thru 4 gms in 2017: 106 touches, 596 yds, 7 TDs.

McVay is loving the ’12’ formation (1 RB, 2 TE). Per ESPN Stats & Info, Rams lead the NFL with 14.2 yards per attempt with that personnel.

One Rams player who flew under the radar on Sunday: RT Rob Havenstein. He did a nice job against Cowboys DE Demarcus Lawrence, who entered with an NFL-leading 6 1/2 sacks. On Sunday, Lawrence had just one disrupted dropback (which turned out to be a sack), according to ESPN Stats & Information. All of Lawrence’s 27 pass-rush snaps came from the right side, which means Havenstein was responsible for blocking him. Havenstein also recovered the fumble Lawrence forced on Jared Goff.

Sean McVay today: “The thing that you sense from our team is that they are a mentally tough team that continues to just take it one snap at a time. You never feel like there’s not a belief that we can find a way to get it done, and I think that’s a real credit to our players and the mental toughness that they’ve displayed throughout that first quarter of the season.”

McVay said Tavon Austin got hit in the shin yesterday, but otherwise Rams came out clean injury-wise. Joyner still questionable (at best).

Regarding FGs instead of TDs (Rams kicked franchise record 7 at DAL), Sean McVay blames 3 people: himself, the head coach & the play-caller.
