#LARams (3-2) won’t be home again until Week 10 vs HOU. The toughest travel schedule in the #NFL begins now…
Defensive surprise of @RamsNFL season through 5 games? On a team with Quinn, Donald, Barwin… the #LARams sack leader is Matt Longacre (3).

The Rams have scored a touchdown on 47.8% of their red-zone trips, 24th among 32 teams. They’re 5th in yards; just have to finish drives.

And guess which high-yardage team ranked 30th in red-zone TD % in 2016? Washington.

Tyler Higbee’s last 2 games: 145 receiving yards.
Tyler Higbee’s previous 19 games: 106 receiving yards
The second- and third-highest-graded Rams players, per PFF, were Cody Davis and John Johnson, the two safety fill-ins.
PFF had Aaron Donald accumulating 2 hits and 8 hurries in 33 pass-rush snaps vs the Seahawks. That’s two straight dominant games for him.
Lamarcus Joyner is expected back this week, and John Johnson could start alongside him. Johnson would basically be the free safety, with the Rams comfortable with Joyner playing close to the line of scrimmage. Wade Phillips doesn’t like to pigeonhole with positions. Starting group is Joyner, Johnson, Cody Davis, with Blake Countess and Marqui Christian the backups. Rams began to feel Maurice Alexander wasn’t good enough to crack that group.
I’m told waiving S Maurice Alexander is strictly performance based. Rams feel like rookie John Johnson, who made the game-ending tackle against the Cowboys and had an interception against the Seahawks, earned his shot. Rams also like what they have in other safeties Cody Davis, Blake Countess, Marqui Christian and Isaiah Johnson more in certain roles — including special teams — and felt it was best to part with Alexander now. He is in the final year of his rookie contract.

Alexander benched for J. Johnson in final series. Rams thought, soon after draft, Johnson would step into big role sooner rather than later.
