Sean McVay “optimistic” that @RamsNFL RB Darrell Henderson will be ready to go for SNF against the Cowboys.

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
With no preseason to check out the competition, Michael Brockers says he even dug into YouTube videos that Cowboys team media put out on his own time, just to try to get a better sense of what was going on with them.

Rams GM Les Snead on rookie RB Raymond Calais:

“The odds of him getting a jersey on Sunday Night Football is slim, but we really liked him in the draft. We liked the superpower he brings of explosiveness, speed, and that being able to translate on the football field.”

    Rams Wire@TheRamsWire
Sean McVay won’t reveal starting RB but Rams will ‘ask a lot’ of Cam Akers

    Stu Jackson@StuJRams
Rams GM Les Snead on keeping 10 offensive linemen on initial 53-man roster: “There’s an element of depth” from game experienced gained by several players last year. “We liked the quality of our depth.”

Snead said it will be helpful in event of COVID-19 attrition.

Over the last 2 years, Aaron Donald’s average depth of tackle against the run has been a gain of 0.17 yards. The equivalent to half a foot.

That’s the best in the NFL among players with more than 200 snaps vs the run.

    HoldenCantor@HoldenCantor
Idk if this means anything at all but I asked Terrell Lewis how he was feeling on his IG live and he said he’s feeling good and not injured Man shrugging

    Safeties man. All the safeties

    Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
Snead and McVay had some really good things to say about Raymond Calais, who they liked in the draft.

Snead even said Calais has a “superpower” with his speed and explosiveness

    J.B. Long@JB_Long
Stray research nugget from the off-season: In 2019, only three NFL players recorded four straight games of 100 yards receiving.

    Two play for the @RamsNFL

26% of INTs in 2019 stemmed from a QB misread. Next greatest factor: physically bad throws (16% of INTs).

Per source Rams remain more than $400,000 over the cap. They must get in compliance by 4:00 p.m. tomorrow.

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
No real surprises on the Rams’ first depth chart, but a couple notes:
    – Justin Hollins listed as ILB. We know he’ll add depth at OLB with Lewis out vs. Dallas, but can play inside.
    – Malcom Brown, Darrell Henderson as RBs 1 and 2. That’s a nod of respect to more experienced

    Stu Jackson@StuJRams
Rams’ first unofficial depth chart of 2020 season is out. Emphasizing 𝘶𝘯𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭, for discussion’s sake: (1/2):

    • Josh Reynolds is third WR
    • Micah Kiser, Troy Reeder ILB1s

Rams’ unofficial depth chart also lists the starting five offensive line as follows:

    LT: Andrew Whitworth
    LG: Joe Noteboom
    C: Austin Blythe
    RG: Austin Corbett
    RT: Rob Havenstein

Les Snead to Jalen Ramsey: Here’s a load of money

Les Snead to Cooper Kupp: Here’s a lot of money

Les Snead to John Johnson: go get us a good comp pick

    Gary Klein@LATimesklein
Rams also have been trying to reach agreement with WR Cooper Kupp on an extension. Kupp in final year of contract.

    Lindsey Thiry@LindseyThiry
Mike McCarthy wasn’t shy about watching Hard Knocks to try to gain a competitive advantage in opener vs. Rams. “We watch Hard Knocks. I don’t want to sit here and act like we didn’t,” McCarthy said. “Wasn’t a whole lot there for us to sink our teeth into.” Tight camera angles.

    Kevin Modesti@KevinModesti
Sean McVay said the #Rams have chosen their 2020 captains: Andrew Whitworth, Jared Goff, Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp for the offense, Aaron Donald, Michael Brockers and John Johnson for the defense, and Johnny Hekker for the special teams.

“(The Cowboys) are a line of scrimmage team and that’s where the game is going to be decided. It starts with playing really physical at the point of attack, setting edges… You’ve got to kill blocks and then, you ultimately got to tackle.” – @RamsNFL DC Brandon Staley

On Jalen Ramsey’s extension: “Here’s the other issue: You think anyone is throwing to Jalen Ramsey with Troy Hill on the other side?”

    Sosa K@QBsMVP
Troy Hill’s 76.4 PFF grade ranked 12th among all qualifying CB’s in the NFL last season.

    Ranks among CB’s w/35+ tgts:

    – 2nd lowest completion %
    – 11th in forced incompletion %
    – 5th in NFL passer rating allowed
    – 12th fewest receiving yards allowed

    Sounds pretty decent to me!

    Rich Cimini@RichCimini
The #Jets have signed former Giants LB Alec Ogletree (former Rams first-round pick) to the practice squad. They also signed WR Jaleel Scott to the PS. WR Donte Moncrief was placed on PS IR.

Rams DT Aaron Donald, a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, says he saw ESPN’s new run stop win rate that qualified him as average against the run.

“I’m gonna use it as motivation,” Donald said, a slight grin on his face.

    Pray for running backs.

Sean McVay says they’re still monitoring Darrell Henderson for Sunday, but continued to express optimism about his return from a hamstring injury.

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
Aaron Donald naturally doesn’t want to give anything away about the new Rams defense. “Just say it’s exactly the same so that they think that.”

“Anything about Aaron Donald not being a great player immediately loses credibility with me.” – Sean McVay, hopefully settling the TL down good lord

    Rex Chapman@RexChapman
Skip Bayless thinks Dak Prescott is weak for admitting he’s suffered depression following his brother’s suicide and during the Covid-19 pandemic. He says leaders don’t do that.

    Disgusting take.

Leaders help others. Dak is helping teammates and fans alike by speaking up.

    Rich Eisen@richeisen

Going after @dak for sharing mental depression and doubt publicly and how it affects his ability to effectively lead others says way more about the person who goes after him than it does about Dak.

I mean, it’s such an antiquated view of what’s supposedly strong and what’s supposedly weak and it has been shown time and again that reinforcing depression and being open about it as something that’s weak is terribly harmful.

Booth comment “Rams 9-7 and didn’t make the playoffs, Cowboys are always in the spotlight”
The omitted facts: Cowboys were 8-8, fired their head coach, and didn’t make the playoffs either

Jalen Ramsey on with us, fresh after signing that record-breaking 5-year deal…he says it’s actually difficult to put into words to describe how powerful a moment it was for him to get that phone call from
    @DavidMulugheta

. His two daughters were named in escalator clauses in the deal, and Ramsey says it’s because they are his “why”.

    Stu Jackson@StuJRams
CB Jalen Ramsey on signing 5-year contract extension with Rams: “I felt relief. I felt like all of my hard work had paid off.” Said he thought about his family and his daughters when he got the phone call from his agent when the deal got done.

    Lindsey Thiry@LindseyThiry
“I don’t even cry or nothing like that,” Jalen Ramsey says, when asked about his contract, “but I just teared up…” Ramsey says the emotion came realizing his two daughters will be set for life, along with their children, and so forth.

Ramsey says as the season inches closer, he came a bit anxious about the contract situation, but now he can be “Truly free.”

    Stu Jackson@StuJRams
