#Saints QB Drew Brees, who visited a specialist following his team’s loss to the #Rams, is believed to have a ligament issue on his throwing thumb, per @TomPelissero and me. The team will know the full extent today, but he’s looking at missing some game time.September 16, 2019 at 7:52 am #105112znModeratorOf the many New Orleans complaints I've gotten, this one's the best.

Simms uses “Pandora’s Box” again when discussing replay review of PI.
Me: “You don’t even know what Pandora’s Box is.”
Simms: “It’s a box with Pandora in it.”September 16, 2019 at 8:17 am #105120znModeratorWhether or not you’re a fan of the Saints or Steelers, this season would be significantly diminished if New Orleans QB Drew Brees (thumb) or Pittsburgh QB Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) is forced to miss extensive time after getting knocked out of Sunday’s action.
don’t sleep on the NFC West, where the Rams, Seahawks and resurgent 49ers are all 2-0.
Nine teams (49ers, Bills, Chiefs, Cowboys, Packers, Patriots, Rams, Ravens, Seahawks) are off to 2-0 starts, which means a 61.3% chance to reach postseason since 1990. However, plenty of have-nots, too. Assuming Cleveland and the Jets don’t tie Monday, nine teams will also stand at 0-2 — a 12.6% chance to make the playoffs since 1990.

September 16, 2019 at 9:50 am #105128znModeratorWhitlock also had this to say about the Rams' season opener in 2017:
"The Colts, with Scott Tolzien or whatever his name is, Phil Tolzien, will come in here and run roughshod over Jared Goff, (and) the little 12 year old coach they got."
The Rams won 46-9. https://t.co/4KoqmabRIO

Each of the Rams’ top three receivers made at least one spectacular catch yesterday, something to add to their career highlight video.September 16, 2019 at 11:02 am #105132znModeratorLMU93
Through their first three dives Goff was 4/8 for 54 yards (71.9 QB Rating)- and that includes the 57-yarder to Cooks… So he was 3/7 for -3 yards otherwise. Not a great start…
But after that he went 15/20 for 229 yards and a TD (129.0 QB Rating).
The kid doesn’t get phased when things aren’t going his way.
Also.
On his 11 Personnel podcast with Rich Hammond today Vinny Bonsignore is assuming Blythe “will miss some games- plural. Could be a little while.”
Said Demby earned some respect in the game Sunday.
On Donald. Good sign that he was able to come back and finish the game. They are typically going to err on the side of caution. Things like back injuries are tricky and can linger though so they’ll be managing it

If the refs didn’t call the lame block in the back call on Noteboom on Woods’ TD, Cam Jordan wouldn’t have had the chance to run back the fumble (which happened later that drive)ProFootballTalk@ProFootballTalk
So which marginal backup QB will get a job with the Steelers instead of Colin Kaepernick?Ian Rapoport@RapSheet
#Rams TE Tyler Higbee left Sunday’s game with what was termed a chest injury and headed to the hospital as a precaution, sources say. It turned out to be an injury to his lung that caused him to cough up blood. While he may miss time, it won’t be much.Downtown Rams [DTR]@DowntownRams
Wishing Tyler Higbee a speedy recovery as well as Austin Blythe. It appears Higbee has a lung injury which means he will be out for a bit. As for Blythe that looked season-ending. We will find out soonSeptember 16, 2019 at 2:00 pm #105146ZooeyModeratorI thought the call on Noteboom was marginal, but only got to see it once on replay.

Here’s the snap count through 2 weeks:Rapp: 71 defensive snaps
Hager: 49 defensive snapsRapp is getting a lot of work, on pace for 570 snaps barring any changes in usage. Budding star who should only see his snap count go up tbh.

Never mind the depth chart. It's fair to think of Taylor Rapp as an NFL starter. The @RamsNFL rookie played 62% of defensive snaps yesterday and grades out (PFF) as a top-20 safety after just two games. pic.twitter.com/vlqOKD7U5x

Todd Gurley played 45/70 snaps yesterday. That’s 64%, down from last week’s 70% and down from his 2018 full-season average of 86%. Gurley showed burst at times running outside, and Malcolm Brown’s footwork made him effective inside.—
Cooper Kupp’s rejuvenation
He’s back. And not a moment too soon. Jared Goff’s Linus blanket is healthy and terrorizing opponents after the catch. His 66-yard catch-and-run effort was absolutely incredible — and effectively put the nail in the Saints’ coffin Sunday.
Yes, Drew Brees got hurt. Yes, another crucial call went against the Saints early in unfathomable fashion. But don’t let any of that minimize the fact that the Rams won this game, and Goff-Kupp connection was truly on point for the first time since the wide receiver ripped up his knee last November. Kupp finished with five catches for 120 yards. Get used to it. Again.

Low ankle sprain for #Rams Austin Blythe. No time table on a return yet but he definitely dodged a major bullet. Is not sure about playing this week yetLindsey Thiry@LindseyThiry
Rams RG Austin Blythe says he’s uncertain how long he’ll be out, but doesn’t expect it to be too serious. When Blythe left the field yesterday, it appeared far more serious than a low ankle sprain. Consider this great news for a team that doesn’t have any veteran backups on the line.RamsNewsNow@RamsNewsNow

Sean McVay on RG Austin Blythe:
Good news. He’s day-to-day with a low ankle sprain.*If Blythe is unable to go in Week 3, it would be the first time a @RamsNFL offensive lineman misses a start due to injury since McVay was hired.

i didn’t realize that. but yeah. that call was ehhh… the defender was past the ball carrier. i mean really. what part of the defender was noteboom supposed to block? he had his back to woods.
