Because of similarities in the Denver defensive alignment to what they see everyday, I bet the Rams O-line performs a bit better than last week v Oak irregardless of personnel combinations. Also per report Miller and Chubb and other Broncos starters may be shut down for Saturday.

If Cam Newton can’t play Week 1, it’ll be the 3rd straight year the Rams’ first opponent is without their top player

I once had a coach of mine in the NFL, while discussing #NFLPreseason and my playing time say “honestly, don’t care about the preseason and it’s games, there’s no value in them to me/us”…seems like the whole league thinks this way now. It’s in many ways, a mockery now..\

For context in the #preseason conversation:
-when you do joint practices, it’s over a 3-4 day period & your starters will get 80+ good reps, in ALL situations, versus other starters.
    -in a game, they get 8? 10?

Throughout the course of NFL history, if you are the best player at your position (or clearly one of the best) when you re-sign a second contract with the team that drafted you, you usually beat the highest paid current contract at your position by 15 to 20%.

“You’re going to stink for a couple of months.”

It sounds harsh but Rams offensive line coach Aaron Kromer is just being honest with his young prospects.

from PFF: 32 stats to know after Week 2 of the 2019 NFL preseason

    https://www.pff.com/news/pro-32-stats-to-know-after-week-2-of-the-2019-nfl-preseason?utm_source=cj&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=cjaff&cjevent=62e3df6bc68b11e9838800610a1c0e0b

    Los Angeles Rams:

Rookie edge defender Natrez Patrick has played only 58 defensive snaps this preseason, but he’s still managed to tally six pressures and five defensive stops. His impact-play percentage (pressures+stops+batted passes/defensive snaps) of 19.0% ranks third among all edge defenders so far this preseason, behind only Chase Winovich (21.6%) and Damontre Moore (20.3%).

Same ole same ole. It;s why he left the game during the superbowl with under 2 minutes and the Titans driving.

As always, just 55% of 75%.

Looks like a bunch of the #Rams starting offensive and defensive players are dressed out – sans Todd Gurley – and warming up.

I’m assuming it’s just a dress rehearsal situation.

Rams have hit peak preseason: QB Blake Bortles will not start and will not play tonight. He’ll join Jared Goff, and the other starters and key reserves on the sideline.

I know its preseason/backups, but I cant remember seeing a Rams LB come through the hole to stop the run in the backfield as often as Dakota Allen has in these 3 games.

I’m bullish on the defensive line depth. Assuming everyone stays healthy on the O-line, and that 7 guys dress on game day, I think the strides Edwards is making creates comfort and that Demby/Evans & eventually Neary will battle for that 7th spot on game day.

Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and a young group of linebackers and defensive backs are creating depth and confidence on a deep #Rams roster.

Sean McVay has been impressed with John Wolford and had the perfect description of his game: “He’s just a little baller”

    Gary Klein@LATimesklein
Rams QB John Wolford has a background in investment banking. He recognizes — and is taking advantage of — growth opportunities.

I was out at training camp the first two days and my observations were just that the defense appeared to be super fast across the board but was impressed mostly with Fowler he looked like the number 3 overall pick in the draft which he was. I have a feeling that he is going to be special this year, and that the inside/outside pressure we get with Donald Fowler and even Matthews is going to be incredible.

Rams LB Josh Carraway suffered a torn achilles last night. OL Aaron Neary fractured his ankle. Both were guys fighting for roster spots.

    Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
Carraway’s out for the year, and Neary probably is too

    D’Marco Farr@DMarcoFarr1
Dang! Caraway was making plays and Neary did a great job leading 2nd unit o-line.

    Gary Klein@LATimesklein
No starters or key rotational players, including DL Sebastian Joseph-Day and safeties Taylor Rapp and Marqui Christian and , are likely to play against Texans, per McVay.

McVay said Shane Waldron would continue to call plays in final preseason game. “I’m looking forward to getting back to it in Carolina and hopefully I’m not rusty,” McVay said. He later said, “There will be no excuses from me if I’m not ready to go.”
