Jared Goff said Robert Woods is the best blocking receiver in the NFL: “I can’t imagine it’s even close.”Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
[Goff] called Woods the best blocking WR in the NFL. He and Gurley even bought Woods the same gift they bought their OL because of the way he blocks==

#NFL camps are opening and some notable players are holding out for new contracts. Meanwhile Jared Goff, who’s made the strongest for a new deal, showed up at #Rams camp and immediately defused and potential contract distractions. It’s what leaders doDowntown Rams [DTR]@DowntownRams

Crazy coaching stats• Only 3 OCs have been w their team longer than 1 year
• Avg OC is 45 yrs old w 11 OCs under the age of 40
• Nearly half the NFL is using their HC as their play caller
Means training camp is vital for chemistry & adapting

"The way they're being talked about, it's like they didn't even make the Super Bowl. I think they got better, but no one wants to hear that. Everyone's focused on the negative. For McVay, that's great." pic.twitter.com/7pd4gv7G77

I’m currently working on an article for the most reliable betting spots in the NFL and I’m finding some great stuff, such as:The loser of the Super Bowl is 3-16 ATS in Week 1 of the following season dating back to 2000. The Rams are -3 in Carolina in Week 1 this season.
I may be in the minority, but I don’t see how the records of totally different teams, some from over a decade ago, influence the performance of this year’s Rams. Maybe oddsmakers having too much faith in Super Bowl runner ups overall?

I am attending *Scout School* for the next few days before @RamsNFL Training Camp starts. Feel free to follow along with me/send questions. I will be sharing some of my highlights throughout my time with the scouts. All of the Rams scouts do their own “training camp” that is four days long. They watch film, go through what is expected for the season and revisit the fundamentals of the Rams way.
The ‘Rams way’ meaning… what scouts should embrace as in their respective job and what scouts should look for from a prospective player.
GM Les Snead addressed the scouts and said he is often asked, “What is the secret sauce.”
The answer: “Keep the main thing, the main thing: Football”Speaking to the *We Not Me* mentality, Les Snead went around the room asking each scout, “What have you (The ME within the WE) done to be useful to the team (The WE)?
One scout spoke to John Johnson’s story: The scout who oversaw that region said he spoke to so many people about JJ before the team ultimately drafted him in the 3rd round. He said, “Everyone at Boston College loved JJ.”
July 25, 2019 at 9:55 pm #103265znModeratorRams’ Jet Motion
There are a number of things teams around the league could steal from Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams, but the most likely is their use of jet motion. The Rams used jet motion on 17 percent of their offensive plays in 2018, per SIS. It’s a motion that serves multiple purposes for the offense from identifying the coverage, to opening the box in the run game, to creating mismatches in the passing game. McVay and the Rams use it in a variety of ways to open up the offense. On the play below, the Rams used the jet motion with Robert Woods to the left on top of play action with the run faked the opposite way. Watch the conflict both the jet motion and play action put on linebacker K.J Wright (especially from the end zone angle), and the opening it gives for a 17-yard pass to Brandin Cooks.
…the motion only reaches max effectiveness if there is something done from it. If the motion was just window dressing on every play, defenses wouldn’t have to worry as much. But the Rams know this and involve the motion into the play more than any team in the league. Last season, the Rams used 11 jet sweep passes and 25 jet sweep rushing attempts, both of which led the league. 11 of those rushing attempts went to Woods, who averaged nine yards per carry on those plays. Woods also had the third-most targets and second-most receptions on plays when he was in motion, behind only Julian Edelman and George Kittle in targets and Edelman in receptions.
We saw smart offensive coaches like Andy Reid in Kansas City and Matt Nagy in Chicago embrace this motion a bit in 2018, but we could be in for an explosion of jet motion across the NFL in 2019.

Here is a breakdown of the Rams scouting department: 3 pro scouts, 7 college area scouts, 2 scouting assistants and 7 over-the-top scouts. Their backgrounds range from coaching… to being former NFL players. What amazes me is the streamlined approach from the top down. From the coaching staff to the scouts, everyone uses streamlined language/terminology to make sure everyone is on the same page.
It comes down to three non-physical traits when it comes to the Rams… If a player is passionate about football, if they are smart, and if they are instinctive.
It seems to me, tight ends are graded/watched differently from other teams considering the complex offense the Rams run.
July 26, 2019 at 9:57 am #103273znModeratorAaron Donald has skipped camp the last 2 years and got off to slow starts each time.

Real issue behind with these NFL player holdouts: rookie contracts. Players are stuck on fixed and undervalued deals even in (for RBs) the prime of their career. Incredible value for teams.July 26, 2019 at 7:20 pm #103305znModeratorCameron DaSilva@camdasilva
