In case you were wondering about Todd Gurley appearing in the preseason, Les Snead said: “I doubt we see Todd in the preseason… along with a lot of our starters.”

Which NFC team has the best receiving corps?

    Field Yates@FieldYates
    The Rams.

Rams. Core is great too to bottom if it weren’t for the injury they would’ve had all 3 receivers over 1,000

“Rams” was the minority answer. Based on a quick glance, just in twitter in response to this one thread, Eagles and Vikings appeared to take the lead and Rams were a respectable but distant third. Tampa got some mention.

this “debate” about rushing the football is my original tweet was about the need to have a physical offensive unit, which starts w/running blocking. It doesn’t mean you have to rush early in the game, or run run pass. Most teams that “establish the run” …Do it terribly. They draw up schemes against bad boxes. Those teams should have better coaches. They don’t. And they suffer for it. I wish ppl would just say “establish a physical offense” instead of “establish the run” and there would be no argument.

often there are times you run the ball in a formation with some action to set up that exact action on a play action pass. Rushing success on those plays isn’t as valuable as making the defense see something to fool them later for a home run.

I understand there’s no correlation between rushing success and play action passing. But I can tell you as a player, when we’ve run the ball, that block is easier for ME on a play action pass when I sell run action.

Part of the issue w/measuring the idea of ETR is not all run games are built the same. Some teams who want to ETR don’t have complex run schemes. It’s boring and they run into bad boxes. Other teams, like NE, who clearly wanted to ETR in playoffs, have brilliant run schemes. So everything that goes into run game success can’t always be measured.

Also…I’ve argued that momentum isn’t totally real. The feeling is confidence in your ability, or the ability of your team to succeed on that play. More positive plays in a row increases your confidence and you play better.

from Top 25 NFL players under age 25

    11. Rams QB Jared Goff (24)
A year ago, Goff was the only quarterback on the list. He proceeded to throw for 4,688 yards and 32 touchdowns. So, why is Goff the lowest-ranked quarterback on this list? Future projection.

The warning signs that Goff is a product of Sean McVay’s system and can’t handle intense pressure (from pass rushers, not the moment) are evident. Goff struggled over a three-game stretch in December against the Lions, Bears, and Eagles, seeing his average yards per attempt plummet to 5.6 and his passer rating fall to 54.8 in those games. Then, in three playoff games against the Cowboys, Saints, and Patriots, Goff completed 55.7 percent of his passes, averaged 6.7 yards per attempt, threw one touchdown, got picked off twice, and accumulated a 71.7 passer rating. 2019 will be a revealing season if Gurley is hampered by his knee and if the offensive line worsens (Andrew Whitworth is a year older and the Rams parted ways with Rodger Saffold).

Regardless, Goff has been damn good over the past two seasons and he plays the most important position in football. There’s no way around that. He deserves a spot on this list, just not as high as the other three quarterbacks.

From the Behind The Draft meeting, fans invited, at the rams practice Facilities last Friday. It was pretty cool.

Snead talked for about an hour, mostly taking questions in the team meeting room which was full of McVay-isms on the walls. Snead said a few things that might be considered newsworthy but nothing big and we were asked not to talk about it on social media so i’m not gonna say anything here.

Though, of course, they would never tell us anything they really didn’t want to get out, I mean we were a room of basically 50 strangers.

Today was an off day for the players so the place was pretty much empty.

We got a tour which was awesome, especially the locker room which was super fucking cool. We also saw the draft war room, the press room, the training room, we ate lunch where the players eat.

The hallways were full of posters of current and former players, the Coliseum full of fans.

I did see one of the trainers who was on Behind the Grind helping Kupp rehab. And when we arrived there was, presumably, a player pulling up in a black Charger with Oregon plates in case anyone might know who that would be.

NFL Officially Bans The ‘Oklahoma Drill’
    https://www.stack.com/a/the-nfl-officially-bans-the-oklahoma-drill?fbclid=IwAR3s39MgZDfWaeDhXcFG4pnI-c5BHM6HXLNjIM_hQA0SCMf8z5Nxqdnwtt4

The Oklahoma Drill is no more—at least at the NFL level.

The ban comes after league officials noticed teams consistently reporting high rates of concussions during the early portions of training camp. This period is when exercises like the Oklahoma Drill are used most regularly. The old-school football staple has seen a general decline in its usage around the NFL in recent years, but teams like the Detroit Lions were still using it as recently as last summer.

Key PFF stats to know about the Rams

    Brandin Cooks dominates intermediate routes

Cooks loves to run dig routes and intermediate crossers, and for good reason. He’s arguably the best in that area of the field and Jared Goff found him consistently on those patterns.

He makes good points, but its also true that though, Goff’s numbers werent good against the Saints, he played a helluva football game in mindbogglingly difficult conditions. He showed a LOT of the ‘it factor’ in that game.

I think he’s good enough to a win a ring with, if all the other pieces fall into place. You dont have to be an elite QB to win a ring. The Eagles did it. The Giants did it. Several of the Non-Brady-teams did it…

Yeah I feel the exact same way, about all of it. The Saints game, and so on. But I am also betting (and you probably are too) that Goff gets better, more steady and consistent, and has fewer of those kinds of Chicago/Detroit/New England kinda days.

Yeah, I think Goff will get better. We dont know if it will ‘look’ like he’s getting better though, cause of all the other factors that might impact him. OLine, Gurley, Injuries, etc.

I dont have doubts about Goff. I got doubts about the OLine, and Gurley.
