The issues within the AAF, it turns out, were far worse than they seemed before the league finally suspended operations on Tuesday. Team budgets were slashed to nothing. Bills were left unpaid.Alliance Football Focus@AllianceFF
#AAF players were kicked out of their hotels, and will have to pay for their own medical expenses for injuries they suffered in the league. This is sickening
April 5, 2019 at 10:55 am #99676AgamemnonParticipantDrafting off @MikeClayNFL, a few #LARams conclusions:
1) Heavy NFC West favorites.
2) Schedule surprisingly “easy.” Easiest in the West, in fact (don’t have to play themselves).
3) Good year to catch the NFC South & AFC North.
4) Crossover East foe DAL not projected to repeat. pic.twitter.com/ogJ3KUH1Gw— J.B. Long (@JB_Long) April 5, 2019

Goff is 4th in “failed completions” (a good thing) per Football Outsiders: https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2019/failed-completions-2018
Football Outsiders: “A failed completion is any completed pass that fails to gain 45 percent of needed yards on first down, 60 percent on second down, or 100 percent on third or fourth down…Racking up failed completions can give your statline some artificial inflation.”
Also note at the bottom of the article (see link) that the Rams defense actually led the league in generating ‘failed completions.’

Do you have any draft preferences at the moment?
As already mentioned, I hope Dexter Lawrence is there for the Rams, but I don’t think he will be. I’d love for them to have a serious hogmolly in the middle, who also just so happens to be very athletic for his size.
Brian Burns, if Lawrence isn’t there. A high-potential edge player . . . and DK Metcalf, if he slips down. Would radically improve their Red Zone offense. A true size/speed guy with the ability to win jump balls, etc.
I’m having trouble gauging the players more likely than not to be there at #31, or in trade-down territory. But I get the sense that the Rams will go Safety if Front Seven players don’t fit the BPA model.
Thoughts?
April 5, 2019 at 2:11 pm #99682znModeratorI have no particular preferences. I just think it has to be a defensive draft, plus some OL. If’n it wuzz me, I would make it all defense in rounds 1 and 3. They need (in alphabetical order) a CB, DE, DT, FS, & LB. They won’t get all that of course but I will live with whoever they think ranks high when they pick.
It is also possible that some of the 2018 defensive picks are players. Franklin-Myers, Joseph-Day, Kiser, Obo. It won’t be all of them but if it’s even 2 of them, that’s doing well.

One thing I’ve been saying re: Goff is that he’s not the QB who excels the first time through in a situation. He’s a builder in terms of his ability to overcome. He struggled his first year in college, then turned it around year 2. He struggled his rookie season in the NFL, then turned it around in year 2. He struggled in his first playoff game, then turned it around in year 2. And he struggled in his first Super Bowl, which is not really a surprise to myself at least, because the trend is there.
Not there yet, but he’s getting close and we have a long stretch of years to enjoy ahead of us

Burns hardly ever makes it out of the top 10. Dexter Lawrence might be there if SD doesn’t take him. This is a list of names I am looking at. The comments are from PFF. It will probably change. A trade down is good too.
7. DI JERRY TILLERY, NOTRE DAME
Tillery tied Quinnen Williams for the highest pass-rushing grade among interior defenders in college football. Tillery’s sack totals don’t tell the whole story as he was a dominant week in and week out.8. DI JEFFERY SIMMONS, MISSISSIPPI STATE
He tore his ACL but did it so early in the process that he could still play as a rookie. Simmons had a run-defense and pass-rushing grade over 90.0 this past season.19. OT DALTON RISNER, KANSAS STATE
Risner started all four seasons at Kansas State and his career low grade was 87.9 overall.26. C ELGTON JENKINS, MISSISSIPPI STATE
The Mississippi State center allowed all of five pressures this past season on 369 pass-blocking snaps.28. S DARNELL SAVAGE, MARYLAND
Savage has back-to-back seasons with grades over 86.0 overall. He’s a missile around the line of scrimmage, laying some impressive hits in the flat.29. EDGE CHASE WINOVICH, MICHIGAN
Winovich is coming off back to back seasons with grades over 90 overall – the only such qualifying power-5 player in the draft class that can boast that.32. DI DEXTER LAWRENCE, CLEMSON
Nose tackles of 340-plus pounds are going the way of the Dodo in the NFL, but Lawrence is a pretty ridiculous athlete for his size. He had the 12th best pass-rushing grade among interior players in college football.34. OT GREG LITTLE, OLE MISS
Over the past two seasons, Little allowed all of 26 total pressures on 993 pass-blocking snaps.April 5, 2019 at 3:42 pm #99688znModeratorApril 5, 2019 at 5:01 pm #99689AgamemnonParticipantThis is a list of names I am looking at.
No CBs?
…
I am fine with taking a CB, but I would prefer that after a trade down. I think that the CB value is in the second round. That is a list of who I might like at #31. Here are some CBs.

1. Greedy Williams
2. Trayvon Mullen – there is a chance that he will be there at #31. I would be fine with him.
3. Julian Love
4. Justin Lane
5. Byron Murphy
6. Rock Ya-Sin

April 5, 2019 at 5:11 pm #99691znModeratorReport: Sean McVay’s home burglarized, $20K in valuables stolen
Cameron DaSilva
Rams coach Sean McVay’s home in L.A. was burglarized on Thursday night, according to a report from TMZ. The thieves, reportedly three men wearing hoodies, gloves and bandanas, broke into the house by smashing the backdoor.
According to law enforcement officials, $20,000 in jewelry and purses was stolen. At the time of the break-in, no one was home. Additionally, damage was done to the house, though it’s not yet known to what extent.
McVay’s security system alerted the police but the suspects were already gone when officers arrived on scene.
Last year, Robert Woods’ home was broken into during the Rams’ win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 27. It was part of a string of burglaries in the L.A. area as several celebrities’ homes were broken into.
