Rodger Saffold is here at #Rams headquarters saying goodbye to everyone. He hasn’t officially signed with a new team, but obviously, it looks like he’s Rams career is over.

The #Rams offensive line will look a lot different next season, but behind the scenes last year there was a ton of confidence in rookies Joseph Noteboom and Brian Allen as starting players. #Rams expect them to be ready to go as replacements for Rodger Saffold and John Sullivan

A couple things before everyone freaks out: I do think the #Rams draft OL. 2. The drafting of Noteboom (3rd) and Allen (4th) in ’18 was preparing for this specific scenario.

Noteboom & Allen got a lot of playing time in preseason and, due to the way Whitworth/Sullivan were handled in practice, they got a ton of work in practice. The Rams know what they have in two players they invested in in the draft.

I understand fans are concerned because of their “unknown” factor with the two heir apparents – and until they prove it there is a level of unknown. But the Rams have been preparing for this and feel comfortable with that plan.

Rams GM Les Snead said if they go for a running back in free agency, the goal would be to bring back CJ Anderson. If Anderson’s demand is out of their price range, they will turn to Malcolm Brown.

Sad to lose him as a teammate, but couldn’t be happier for my boy
    @Rodger_Saffold

    Keep being you my guy!

@weddlesbeard said he wouldn’t have signed with the Rams if they ran a defense like Seattle’s. Said he doesn’t like “generic” schemes

Weddle: “I reached out to JJ as soon as I signed here.” Adds wanted to let John Johnson know how much he was looking forward to working together. #LARams

GM Les Snead says that in a first, probably four agents reached out to him after LA signed Weddle and the agents said that their clients wanted to pass along that Weddle was one of the best teammates they’ve ever had.

Rams introduce Eric Weddle as their new safety. Les Snead calls the signing similar to when they signed Andrew Whitworth. Young players can learn from Weddle.

#Falcons are finalizing a deal with former #Giants and #Rams G Jamon Brown, per @ZachKleinWSB. Should be a 3-year deal when all set and done.

    WEDDLE-
Still one of the better versatile safeties in the league at age 34, Weddle can’t patrol the full field like he used to, but he can read receivers and runners as well as anyone in the league. This is a low-money deal for a team in need of smart, consistent safety play to put its defense over the top, and if Weddle is playing in the Super Bowl next February as a result, don’t be too surprised.

    FOWLER
Traded from Jacksonville to give the Rams a boost as edge-rusher for the stretch run, Fowler now re-signs with his newer team. He put up four sacks and 30 total pressures (per PFF) during his time in Wade Phillips’ defense, and while the team will need to augment his efforts in free agency and the draft, Fowler’s a good re-addition—and given the value of the contract, the Rams clearly see potential here.

    Grade: B

Th[e Rams] drafted three linemen last year, all of whom are on the roster, and each of whom cross trained at multiple positions.

Rams will see new NFC West threat in Dee Ford

    Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
The Chiefs traded Dee Ford and Marcus Peters for two 2nd-round picks and a 4th. Not saying they were dumb, just surprisingly small returns.

    Nick Kostos@TheKostos
The “Kansas City model” is apparently to have as few good players on your roster as humanly possible

    PFF LA Rams@PFF_Rams
As @Rodger_Saffold heads to Tennessee, here is what the #Rams are losing at the Guard position:

    – Offensive Grade – 73.2 (T-10th among Guards; T-39th among all OL)
    – Run Blocking Grade – 72.8 (5th among Guards; 18th among all OL)
    – Only 2 games missed in the last 3 seasons

    Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
If the Rams had the cap room, Dee Ford would’ve been an amazing trade target considering it was only for a 2020 SECOND-ROUND PICK

    Dan Orlovsky@danorlovsky7
Think GM’s matter much? Gettleman and Dorsey took over their organizations the same year-ones built a contender from a nobody-ones torn down a historic franchise

    Charles Robinson@CharlesRobinson
More on Odell Beckham Jr’s “preference” list of teams in a trade: He liked the idea of the #Cowboys (he’s close to Dak + facing the #Giants). Also, the #Broncos (he’s close to Von). But I was told that his unquestionable top choice was uniting with Jarvis Landry and the #Browns.

    Sam Farmer@LATimesfarmer
Rams play at Cleveland this season. Should be interesting.
