In my humble opinion, Ernie Zampese is a hall of fame coach that put his brand on the NFL. That brand, like many other HOF coaches, lives on through Norv Turner, Mike Martz, Cam Cameron and many others that use the system as their base to attack defenses.

Personally, Ernie brought all his Dan Fouts films with him to the Rams and i studied exactly what he was expected as I watched Dan Fouts execute the system. Sure the system grew and we made changes as we went along, but it was the high bar of execution perfection that he was after. I know for fact, that Norv brought the films of the Rams to Dallas so Troy Aikman knew what to expect and to strive for. Of course, mike Martz took the brand even further with his Great show on turf, and all Rams fans know that success. It’s an excellent offensive system that is even better with great players at the helm.

So as I watch the games today, I look for the OC coach lineage to help give a clue of the play selection and strategies that are going to be. Just as i look at the DC linage for Jeff Fisher has a long line of greats that he has tutored over the years, including current Rams DC.

So the players names change, but the X’s and Os and the strategies are always modifying, yet the basis for all offenses seem to run through Bill Walsh or Ernie Zampese in some form or fashion.

Ernie has made his mark and I am the first to recognize him as a HOF coach that will ever be remembered for his contributions to great offenses.

A real set back this week. This will be a real test of internal fortitude for Sam and the direction of the club, admittingly, may have to change.
This was so unfortunate for Rams Nation.

…injury is so tough to come back from. Unfortunately, Sam re-injured the knee and that was exactly what I was waiting to see would happen or not. I think we all were.

So the state of the Rams, in virtually the toughest division of football is still one of catch up. The QB position is behind compared to those in the division and will need to be addressed in the near term and long term.

Defense, i like the Rams, running game, I like the rams, passing game…is in question and we’ll see who answers to that.

many question marks for anyone to guess if they can compete on a weekly basis.

    Prayers for success.
