Ranking Rams’ 2020 opponents from easiest to toughest

While the 2020 NFL schedule hasn’t yet been released, the Los Angeles Rams know who they’ll be facing next season. They’ll be traveling east a lot, but their opponents don’t look like the toughest as of now.

Of course, a lot will change between now and the start of next season, and even the teams that look weak at the moment will improve in 2020.

    Washington Redskins

The Redskins really shouldn’t pose much of a threat to the Rams in 2020. They lack talent on both sides of the ball and Dwayne Haskins hasn’t yet shown the ability to make up for an underwhelming supporting cast.

    Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins turned out to be much better than everyone expected in 2019, but their rebuild will continue in 2020 and it’s unclear who will play quarterback for them next season. Their roster will be stocked with rookies, too, which has its pros and cons.

    New York Jets

Sam Darnold still has the makings of a good quarterback, and the Jets have marquee players with Le’Veon Bell and C.J. Mosley, but they were wildly inconsistent in 2019. It’s hard to bank on the Jets being very good next season.

    New York Giants

Daniel Jones has serious fumbling issues, but he and Saquon Barkley could turn the Giants around in 2020 under new head coach Joe Judge. Don’t bet on that happening, but New York at least has some stability now.

    Chicago Bears

As bad as Mitchell Trubisky was in 2019, the Bears were at least competitive. Khalil Mack and their defense make them a tough out and that should remain the case next season. Expect them to be somewhere around the .500 mark.

    Tampa Bay Buccaneers

As disappointing and turnover-prone as Jameis Winston was, the Buccaneers had the third-best offense in the NFL and finished 7-9. They should be better in 2020 in Bruce Arians’ second season at the helm. Not to mention, they beat the Rams this past season, 55-40.

    Buffalo Bills

It’s incredible how quickly the Bills have risen, going 10-6 this past season and making the playoffs. Josh Allen has cut down on the turnovers and the defense is one of the best in the NFL.

    Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have the makings of becoming a very good team with Kyler Murray and Kliff Kingsbury leading the way. They still have holes to address, particularly on defense, but don’t be surprised if the Cardinals beat the Rams at least once in 2020.

    New England Patriots

The Patriots are difficult to project in 2020 because of the uncertainty surrounding Tom Brady. However, they’ve been the most consistent franchise in sports for the last decade-plus, so it’s to be expected that they’ll once again be competitive even if Brady doesn’t come back.

    Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles overcame countless injuries to make the playoffs, and assuming they remain relatively healthy in 2020 with Carson Wentz at quarterback, they’ll be in postseason contention again.

    Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys underachieved dramatically in 2019 with one of the best offenses in the NFL. If they keep Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper, they should have a similar season on offense in 2020, and their talent on defense has the potential to put them near the top of the league.

    Seattle Seahawks

As long as the Seahawks have Russell Wilson, they’ll be in the hunt for an NFC West title. They’re always a challenge for the Rams and should be one of the league’s better teams next season, too.

    San Francisco 49ers

Kyle Shanahan has the 49ers one win from the Super Bowl and they’re built for the future, too. The defense is not one any team wants to face, while Jimmy Garoppolo does a great job orchestrating the offense behind a dominant rushing attack.
