WR Cooper Kupp Inactive for Rams, CB Richard Sherman Inactive for 49ers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — There were no real surprises for the Rams’ inactives in Week 7. But the 49ers will be without two of their top cornerbacks.

Both Richard Sherman and Jimmie Ward are inactive for San Francisco on Sunday. Ward was listed as doubtful on Friday with a hamstring injury. Sherman was questionable with a calf injury, however he did not participate in Friday’s practice.

Both being out could have a significant effect on the Niners defense.

For the Rams, as expected, wide receiver Cooper Kupp is inactive with a knee injury. Head coach Sean McVay has called Kupp week-to-week after the wideout suffered the injury in last week’s victory over the Broncos. Josh Reynolds is likely to start as the Rams’ third wideout in Week 7.

Los Angeles signed wide receiver Nick Williams on Tuesday and he is active for today’s game. Williams’ last stop in the NFL was with Tennessee, which runs a similar offensive system to the Rams under former offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur.

Kicker Greg Zuerlein is officially active for Sunday’s contest and will play in his first game since Week 1. The 2017 All-Pro hit four-of-five field goals in that contest, including one from 55-yards out.

Below is the full list of inactives for both teams.

Warmups indicate no changes for Rams…Longacre starting at OLB (after he left last week with back spasms) and Hill at CB opposite Peters.

Greg Zuerlein just made a 53-yarder in warmups so I think he’s ready.

Rams are without WR Cooper Kupp (knee) today, but 49ers are without CBs Richard Sherman (calf) and Jimmie Ward (hamstring).

No prime time, no problem? Let’s face it, SF got flexed out of prime time, not LA. Who’s more dialed in at 1:25p: the undefeated Rams or the 49ers, who are coming off another heart-wrenching defeat in Green Bay and a short week of preparation?

Levi’s wasn’t the site of Jared Goff’s first win, but we’ll look back and remember Week 3 of 2017 as the turning point in his career. In a shootout, he completed 79% and passed for 3 TD. His record is 16-3 since.

Todd Gurley’s 11 TDs are the most through 6 games since Shaun Alexander’s MVP season of 2005. If he scores again today, he’ll be tied for 2nd in franchise history with a TD in 10 consecutive games, trailing only Crazy Legs Hirsh (1950-51).

49ers secondary is not good, and they’re banged up. Jimmie Ward is doubtful. Richard Sherman is a game-time decision. And even with them, SF is allowing 58% completion and 30ppg, both second-worst in the NFL. Goff and McVay should have a field day in great conditions.

Beware of DeForest Buckner, though. He’s the real deal, with 4.5 sacks already this season. Will be curious to see if he lines up over Rodger Saffold to test the Rams RG and his knee. Goff was sacked a season-high 5x last week, and McVay took the blame for all of them, absolving his offensive line.
