The Rams still sit in the No. 3 spot in the NFC after Week 14

One way for the Rams to earn the No. 1 seed:

    Rams win out
Packers: L vs. CAR, W vs. TEN, W vs. CHI
Saints: L vs. KC, L vs. MIN, W vs. CAR

    Sam Monson@PFF_Sam
someone just reminded me how absurd Aaron Donald leading the league in pressure is, from his interior alignment.

Rams WR Cooper Kupp on the receivers throwing really good blocks and the reaction it gets when they’re watching it in the film room:

“It might be the thing we get most excited about in our (position) room, actually.”

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
Rams WR Cooper Kupp, who along with Robert Woods and the Rams TEs, have been putting on a blocking clinic over the last few weeks.

    SeattleRams@seattlerams_nfl
Their work was on full display against the Patriots. Go back and watch the run game again, you’ll see TE’s (Young Gerald had a big impact here) and WR’s taking on anyone in their way.

    Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
I know the Jets are bad but they had 20 yards on 16 plays in the second half against the Seahawks.

    That is astonishingly putrid.

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
If the Rams beat or tie the Jets on Sunday (currently they’re favored by at least 16 points), they will have clinched a berth in the playoffs.

Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods have become two of the best blocking WRs in the NFL, and it’s their willingness to do the dirty work that stands out

    Rich Cimini@RichCimini
The Jets had only 185 yards yesterday, a season low. That came against the NFL’s 31st-ranked defense.

In the second half, they gained 20 total yards on 16 plays.

On Sunday, they face the Rams, who have the No. 1 defense. Predictions?

    SeattleRams@seattlerams_nfl
With the Saints and Steelers having bad weeks, the Rams defense is going to vault towards the top spot in the NFL, a number that should be solidified after they play the Jets on Sunday.

    TurfShowTimes@TurfShowTimes
Cory Littleton has been one of 2020’s biggest free agent disappointments

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
The Rams say they have placed practice squad TE Kendall Blanton on the reserve/COVID list, joining OLB Jachai Polite. The list is for both close contacts of a positive test, and positive tests. Blanton previously was placed on the list in November.

Aaron Donald has been double-teamed on 70% of his pass rushes as a defensive tackle this season, the highest rate in the league.

But despite that, Aaron Donald also has a 23% pass rush win rate as a defensive tackle this season, the highest in the league.

    ReddingRam@ReddingRam
Low key … The Rams Defense has been even better since A’Shawn Robinson has been in the line up. I don’t see it mentioned much. But the rotation on the DL has been stronger and the ILB play has even been better. I would love for him to stick around.

aaron donald is a transcendent talent. i know i keep repeating myself. but he’s truly a transcendent talent.

i suspect that robinson was not used correctly in detroit? it’d be nice if they could keep him a couple more years.

The tweet about Robinson also mentions ILB play. But, there are close-watcher, all-22 types who are saying Reeder is excelling on his own, as a more developed contributor (more developed as compared to last year). If they really did hit on Reeder, that would be something.

What I said is not supposed to be taken as detracting from Robinson. It really could be that they hit on both Robinson and Reeder.

The Rams are favored by 17 points against the Jets, which is the most points they’ve been favored by since 2001.

Since 2000, teams are 30-1 when favored by at least 17 points. The only loss was NE vs. MIA last year

Micah Kiser and Taylor Rapp won’t be coming off IR this week. Considering the opponent, it’s understandable to give them another week of rest (if they’re close to ready)

Micah Kiser won’t be back this week, but when he does return, the Rams have a decision to make: Keep Reeder in there or go back to Kiser?

This site does offense-only points/game allowed:

    https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-offensive-points-per-game%5DTeamRankings.com

Rams are indeed #1 in offensive points/game allowed, yards/game, and yards/play.

I have been watching Reeder closely every start. He has really high short area quickness and is very fast. He is smart, physical, and is finally comfortable with what they are asking him to do. We are actually, and suddenly, very solid at ILB. And, Staley seems the master at calling the right plays with whomever he has on the field, including his mesh of ILB and OLB and safety.

It’s been a fuckin clinic on gap integrity, edge setting, play diagnosis, coverage, pursuit, and tackling.

The Rams aren’t going to have a first round pick and won’t trade up because they need draft depth, so it really becomes more of a risk to depend on getting a starting-caliber center in the second round or third. It would be lower-risk to sign a center on a low deal for two-three years (maybe even with an out), and then draft, because then you can develop under a really good OL coach and maybe have him ready to go in 2022 as the rest of these core contracts hit their apex.

the only QBs who have engineered more TD drives than Goff (134) are Mahomes (152) and Wilson (144). Rodgers is right behind with 133.

when was the last time the rams defense ranked #1 in the league in offensive points allowed? 1975, they allowed 135 points in 14 games. #1 in the NFL. They were 4th in yards allowed that year. In 1967 the Rams D gave up 12.5 pts/game. That was best in the NFL. #2 Colts with 12.6, #3 Packers with 12.9

“I don’t think there’s a better time to get on a streak than in December when you’re playing meaningful games and trying to carry some momentum into January, so I do think it’s important,” coach Sean McVay said Monday during a videoconference with reporters.
