Les Snead specifically mentioned Cory Littleton as a young player they’re expecting to step up on defense. Sounds like he’s a major part of their plans at inside linebacker.

Snead said Aaron Donald’s interior pass rush ability helps mitigate the need for edge rushers, but, reading between the lines, it sure seems like that’s the position where the Rams will most urgently look to add players.]

    Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond

Snead said the Rams talked with Aaron Donald’s representatives at the combine and called talks “productive” but wouldn’t share a timetable and indicated he didn’t know if Donald would show for the optional offseason program.

Asked about Tavon Austin, Snead said, “Check back tomorrow.” Said Rams have been in communication with Tavon’s agent.

Snead’s quote was, “We’re in talks with Tavon. It could go a few ways.” Presumably, the top two ways are an outright release or a restructure, and I have no idea what the financial implications of the latter would be right now.

    Lindsey Thiry@LindseyThiry

Les Snead says the Rams will not be able to replace Sammy Watkins with one person. They’ll change formations, and look to young receivers Josh Reynolds and Michael Thomas and the draft.

#Rams head coach Sean McVay: “There’s really no limit to what these guys can do” on Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters

#Rams HC Sean McVay: “It’s rare to acquire two players of this caliber”

#Rams G.M. Les Snead: “We had to give Wade Phillips the pieces for his 3-4 defense.”

#Rams safety Lamarcus Joyner: “I’m in a good place. There’s still time to get a long-term deal done…It’s a process.”

#Rams Nickell Robey-Coleman: “I can’t wait to work with (Peters and Talib)”

#Rams Nickell Robey-Coleman: T”he #Rams showed their loyalty to me from day one.”

Needless to say, Marcus Peters brings a whole other level of swagger and passion to #Rams. He told me he’s doing better finding that emotional fine line and not crossing it on the football field, but makes no apologies for the intensity he brings and his strong desire to win.

New #Rams CB Marcus Peters: “I want to win so much, so yeah sometimes I’m going to get pissed off. But there’s no issues off the field. On the field, I can downsize a little bit” (says it’s all about emotions and wanting to win”

#Rams CB Aqib Talib: “This will be an easy transition for me…..I’m a social butterfly. I’ll fit in just fine.”

New #Rams CB Aqib Talib: “At no time in the NFL have a been more comfortable than playing with Wade Phillips.”

Sean McVay on losing Sammy Watkins, “Wish him nothing but the best, he put good things on tape.” @CVRamsClub

The Rams have some holes to fill (C, ILB, OLB). Asked how to balance filling those in free agency or waiting for the draft, Snead responds, “The best way to do it is not have a need screaming at you in the draft.” @CVRamsClub @DowntownRams

Snead said that Ogletree was “sacrificed” so that the Rams could have two top-notch corners. Without the Talib deal, Ogletree is still a Ram

When the Rams agreed to trade Alec Ogletree to the Giants, Ogletree was in the facility working out. @CVRamsClub @DowntownRams

Les Snead and Sean McVay walked out on the field to tell him the news, which they delivered in the training room.

Asked how Ogletree responded, Snead said, “He soaked it in. He was a professional.”

Snead also seemed to insinuate that if the Rams had to go into the season with Troy Hill as a starter at cornerback, they would have been a lot more comfortable with that situation than you might think. @CVRamsClub

“If we were starting Troy Hill, I’m sure on the outside looking in, it would be ‘The Rams are weak at corner.’ But, down the stretch last year, he was playing as good a corner as we had.”

Snead said the Rams had “productive” talks with Aaron Donald’s representatives at the combine. “We’ve got a nice timeline to work on…. We’ll go to work and try to hammer that thing out.” @CVRamsClub @DowntownRams

Peters on Rams new secondary: “I get to have another All-Pro corner on the other side? So now you don’t know where you’re going to go. And then you have a safety like Joyner? You add in Sam Shields? And you keep Roby? Come on now. It’s going to be fun. Pick your poison.”

Marcus Peters says, “I’m a fan of football and I’ve been watching the team grow.” Says he’s going to bring his energy to the team.

Talib calls Wade Phillips “the guru of putting guys in position to succeed.” @CVRamsClub

Video: Aqib Talib, on wanting to be traded to the Rams: “I wanted to be comfortable, and no time in the NFL was I more comfortable than with Wade Phillips.”

McVay, on Peters and Talib: “They’re probably going to piss me off a lot this offseason, getting picks from us in practice and things like that.”

Snead says he has been in talks with Tavon Austin’s agent and indicated that a resolution could come by tomorrow. Sounds like they’re trying to see if they can find a trade partner before releasing him. Still would be surprised if he was brought back, but we’ll see.

Les Snead, from the podium earlier: “We’re definitely not content, and we’re going to keep working to improve upon that.”

The Rams are talking with reps for C John Sullivan and OLB Connor Barwin, trying to bring them both back, GM Les Snead said.

Rams GM Les Snead had “productive talks” with Aaron Donald’s representatives at the combine, he said. They agreed on a timeline to potentially get an extension done.

Marcus Peters, on striking a balance and controlling his emotion as he gets older. “Everything comes with growth. What were you doing at 25? There’s probably some stuff that your mom and pops and some other people probably wouldn’t agree with. But all you do is you take it with a grain of salt and you keep pushing. You always learn from your mistakes, you sit there and you take it on your own, you stand tall and you have fun with it. That’s life. It’s ups and downs, man. It’s a beautiful journey.”

Lamarcus Joyner was asked how he could benefit from a full year as an NFL safety. Here’s what he said: “When I sit back and I think about it, I think about the progress I made as a nickel back in the league, coming in from college just my first year — I couldn’t cover a cold, and I just got better, and I learned all the things to work on to be successful in this league.” He expects to do the same at safety.
