    NFL chat with Jim Thomas

    http://sports.live.stltoday.com/Event/NFL_chat_with_Jim_Thomas_8?Page=3

    highlights in blue

Now that Peyton Manning has retired has he explained to NFL fans exactly what it means when he yells “Omaha, Omaha, Omaha…” At the line of scrimmage?
    by LouieB 2:09 PM

Yes. It was a signal to the team and especially the center, that the play clock was winding down and the ball needed to be snapped.
    by jthomas 2:10 PM

Hurray! No more complaints about this being a Rams chat!
    by Simple.10 2:10 PM

    Well, so far anyway.
    by jthomas 2:10 PM

Jim, do you think the hiring of Lovie will improve the quality of Illini football? Will he be an effective recruiter?
    by big tuna 2:10 PM

I think Lovie has a chance to be the best thing to happen in Illinois football in a long time. I think he’s a proven winner, even in Tampa Bay where he had the Bucs headed in the right direction. I think he should be able to recruit. But I don’t think the Illini are instant Rose Bowl contenders. It’s going to take a few years.
    by jthomas 2:12 PM

Have you heard if the Rams have lined up visits from any free agent QBs or WRs?
    by bfulton 2:16 PM

    I have not.
    by jthomas 2:16 PM

It looks like the Los Angeles Rams are going to pickup with Tre Mason right where they left off with Darryl Henley!
    by Gerald Reynolds 2:17 PM[/b]

I don’t think what Mason is accused of is even close to what jailed Darryl Henley more than 20 years ago.
    by jthomas 2:17 PM[/b]

Re: The whereabouts of Mark Bulger. His manor in Huntleigh, off Lindberg, has been on the market for a few months. It can be yours for $6 million, Jim.
by Dave in Kirkwood 2:17 PM

$6 million, eh? I think Laurinaitis’ place is going for less.
    by jthomas 2:18 PM

I understand that the Rams can sign any players from other teams during the legal tampering period. Can they sign their own free agents during this time, though?
    by bfulton 2:18 PM

The Rams can sign any of their own free agents at any time – as they could all during the 2015 season and every day since the season ended. They can also sign players who were cut from other teams at any time. As for other teams’ unrestricted free agents, they can agree to terms with them now that the so-called “legal tampering” has begun _ as of 11 a.m. central time on Monday. But they can’t actually sign unrestricted free agents until Weds. 3 p.m. central.
    by jthomas 2:22 PM

They finally updated your photo on this forum! Very business-like look, Jimbo…
    by Bob Lowe 2:22 PM

Really. That’s good to know. I’ll have to check it out.
    by jthomas 2:22 PM

Bulger’s place is an equestrian estate on 6 acres. Good to see he invested wisely.
by Dave in Kirkwood 2:22 PM

I was told he was pretty good with his money.
    by jthomas 2:22 PM

why are the Rams waiting to resign thier FA’s and RFA’s?
    by fred 2:23 PM

I’m very surprised they haven’t re-signed anybody. I was surprised that they didn’t re-sign anyone (except Foles) before the start of the 2015 season, and I was surprised they didn’t re-sign anyone during the 2015 season.
    by jthomas 2:24 PM

I am curious how the Rams have gotten nothing done with their own free agents. With how much cap room they have, is there any talk of making a huge splash with a big name first and then dealing with their own when they see what is left? If so, who might they target?
    by RJ 2:24 PM

It looks like Osweilerr and Fitzpatrick are going to hit the market at this time. Obviously, RGIII is now on the market. If there’s an early splash, I think it might be in that area, although there have been no indications at this point that the Rams are even in the picture on any of these guys.
    by jthomas 2:27 PM

Now that Peyton has retired, do you have a Mt. Rushmore of quarterbacks?
    by Tom 2:27 PM

In no particular order, Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, John Elway, Peyton Manning. W/Tom Brady in the on-deck circle.
    by jthomas 2:28 PM

Given the relative weakness of QB and WR in the draft versus this draft’s reported historic strength of the DLine, would you be surprised if the Rams used their 15th overall pick on a Dlineman?
    by bfulton 2:28 PM

It wouldn’t surprise me at all, especially if they lost some combination of Hayes, Sims, and Fairley.
    by jthomas 2:29 PM

Any word on how dedicated the Jets are to Fitzpatrick? They didn’t franchise him, so you’d think a sales job could get him to LA. Also, how interested are the Rams in him?
    by Bob Lowe 2:29 PM

I thought Fitzpatrick would’ve been a good pickup for the Rams last year, and I mentioned that on the chat a year ago. I don’t know if the Rams have any interest in him this time around.
    by jthomas 2:31 PM

In last week’s chat, I distinctly remember someone asking you who was better: Brady or Manning. You went with Brady. Do tell: what did either one do in the last week that caused you to change your mind?
    by Nate 2:32 PM

I put Brady in the on-deck circle only because he has yet to retire.
    by jthomas 2:32 PM

Hi Jim, I’m very frustrated reading all these FA and the place they will land” articles. Rams NEVER seem to be mentioned with possible great players….why? I would love to see Mack line up at Center….PAY anything, and place Kap or RG III behind him…
    by D_Roks30 2:33 PM

Patience my friend. Free agency hasn’t even officially started. You remind me of Mike Martz back in 2002 at the NFL Scouting Combine telling me he was tired of waiting on London Fletcher. I reminded the coach it was only Day 1 of free agency. (Free agency started earlier back then.)
    by jthomas 2:35 PM

Hi Jim, I hope all is well. I finally had a fun weekend here in LA! I got a new friend and I think you may know him. I’ve been hanging around Charlie Sheen and we’ve been having a blast. I’ll just say this, all those late nights over on the eastside with Louie and Fred Bird were rated G compared to last Saturday night. Come visit sometime soon, my man Chuck and I will take you out on the town. Take care Jim! Your friend, Rampage
    by Rampage 2:35 PM

Be careful out there, Rampage. Use a designated driver.
    by jthomas 2:36 PM

I remind you of Mike Martz?????? I’ll take that as a compliment…LOL
    by D_Roks30 2:40 PM

    Patience wasn’t a virtue w/Mad Mike.
    by jthomas 2:41 PM

Where do our Mizzou players get drafted (round wise)
    by Boston Mizzou 2:41 PM

I see Brothers and McGovern in the middle range _ rounds 3, 4 and even 5. And Boehm in the later rounds 5, 6, or 7. I do think they all get drafted.
    by jthomas 2:42 PM

Jim, any plans for you to go to some Rams home games? If so ware a St. Louis Rams hat or shirt.
    by ramswinbig39 2:43 PM

I think our plans are to cover the home opener in LA. But I won’t be wearing any StL Rams gear. I did once wear a St. Louis Stalllions sweatshirt at a Rams-Jaguars game, in honor of the failed local effort to get an expansion team that became the Jaguars.
    by jthomas 2:45 PM

If you were a GM, would you take a chance on RG? I wouldn’t.
    by Don 2:46 PM

I’d at least talk about it check out his film, talk to other people about him, and if there were no red flags at that point then try to bring him in for a visit and talk to him.
    by jthomas 2:47 PM

Jim, any chance you get an interview with Dave Peacock. He didn’t stand a chance trying to negotiate with the “Mickey Mouse” organization.
    by keith 2:48 PM

Peacock did a conference call on the night of the relocation vote. David Hunn participated for the Post-Dispatch; I was in the hotel hallway chasing down owners. So I don’t know if Peacock feels the need to do anymore interviews on the topic.
    by jthomas 2:49 PM

Jim, you are welcome to come to the games but you will have to buy a ticket. After I am not running a charity.
    by stan 2:49 PM

Actually, I think I’ll have a press pass.
    by jthomas 2:49 PM

this is LA baby!!!! I don’t honor press passes from those little Midwest towns.
    by stan 2:51 PM

Sorry, this one is out of your control.
    by jthomas 2:52 PM

Hey Jim, Would you be ok with this opening day line up? LT G-rob LG Brown C Barnes RG Wichman RT Havenstein And Saffold is cut
    by Dwayne 2:52 PM

I would be OK with it. I think the group has potential, although they will suffer more growing pains because it’s still a young group. But I don’t think Saffold gets cut. We’ll know soon enough on him because his base salary for 2016 ($4.5 million) is guaranteed if he’s still on the roster by the third day of the league year.
    by jthomas 2:55 PM

….but what do you think of acquiring Mack, center from Cleveland?
    by D_Roks30 2:55 PM

He won’t come cheaply. Did you see the money Osemele reportedly is getting (5 years/$60 million) from Raiders? Even Incognito got more than $5 million a year to re-sign w/Buffalo. But Mack is an LA native. Played his college ball in the state. That could be a draw. Unlike some others, I don’t think Barnes necessarily was a problem. He was pretty solid over the second half of the season.
    by jthomas 2:58 PM

Hi Jim, rate in order you think the best-to-worst chances player is back with Rams: Baron, McLeod, Hayes, Cunningham, Jenkins, Fairley. Thanks and btw, are you still making the trip out to Rams park until the shut it d
    own end of the month?
    by ALE 2:58 PM

Here’s how I handicap it. . . 1.) Cunningham (he will be tendered as an RFA); 2.) Hayes (very loyal to FIsher); 3.) Barron (a great fit, starting LB job is his); 4.) McLeod (I think his asking price is high); 5.) Jenkins (will go to highest bidder); 6.) Fairley (will get starter’s money somewhere). I’m sitting at my desk at Rams Park right now. Are you on Twitter. If you are I’ll tweet out a picture from Rams Park media room. #ghosttown
    by jthomas 3:02 PM

Isn’t NFL free agency overrated? It seems like every year teams like the Dolphins “win” this period by giving out massive contracts to B+ players, while teams like the Patriots and Packers, the consistent winners, build their teams through the draft, and only use free agency for complimentary players. The best players get re-signed by their teams before they hit the market.
    by Alex 3:02 PM

There’s no doubt that the team’s that win the March “Lombardi Trophy” very rarely compete for the real thing that season. You can also think of Washington of years past _ that club used to make the big splash almost every year and then did little in the regular season. I think the first question that must be resolved when a player hits the market as a free agent would be: If he’s so good, why is his current team letting him on the market? But I still think adding 2 or 3 starters for a team via free agency isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
    by jthomas 3:06 PM

Hey Jim, as always thanks for the chats. I DO NOT want to support the NFL with the Sunday ticket but will we get more KC Chiefs games? I really want to root for one team and the Chiefs are a MO team. I thought STL televised Chiefs games before the Rams moved here in the ’90s. Could be that they were good too because that was the Marty Schoettenheimer era with Montana. Just curious. I’ve seen many Chiefs games and plan on taking my son to one next season. Can you believe I missed the Great Show on Turf because I lived in KC at that time. Came back home to the Lou in 2005 to see everything turn to cr@p!
by ChiefMan former STLRamMan 3:06 PM

Your timing does seem to be off. But Andy Reid’s a good man and a very good coach, and the Chiefs look like a fun group to watch. Arrowhead is among the top places in the NFL to watch a game. I anticipate we’ll be at some Chiefs games this year. And I would think we’d get more Chiefs games on TV this year.
    by jthomas 3:09 PM

Have you ever thought about how things would have turned out differently, if the Rams had kept Fitzpatrick? With all his limitations, he has been better than most of the qb’s the Rams have had since then, with the possible exception of that game when Bradford was healthy.
    by Scott Linehan 3:09 PM

I get your point. Fitz does throw some INTs, but he’s a fun guy to watch. I think the Rams would’ve won a few more games had they kept Fitz, but it’s not as if keeping him around would’ve changed the franchise.
    by jthomas 3:10 PM

Jim, If you had the choice to start Sean Mannion or Paxton Lynch opening day who would you go with and why?
    by Dwayne 3:10 PM

Mannion. I think Lynch is a year or two away from being ready as he struggles with mechanics/footwork in going from spread offense to playing under center. That seemed apparent at his combine workout, which I watched from inside the stadium. And I’m not saying Mannion is totally ready, but a year of watching and learning in 2015 helps.
    by jthomas 3:12 PM

Will you be paying closer attention to teams like the Chiefs (God forbid), Bears, Colts, Titans, or other geographically close teams that people in the region may adopt now that there’s no nfl franchise in St. Louis?
    by Thad 3:12 PM

I believe that’s the plan. Why the “God forbid” on Chiefs? I think we need to run a poll some time during training camp time to see what fans want to read about in the P-D regarding specific NFL teams.
    by jthomas 3:13 PM

You would think as sure as stan was that the rams were moving (construction on the race track site continuing throughout the “negotiations”), that if he cared about success on the field and keeping disruptions to a minimum, he would have bought some land and began to build a training facility. Unless of course, team success is second to making him money.
    by Debra Callahan 3:14 PM

He certainly buys enough land that you’d think he would’ve had something in mind even as the relocation process was still playing out. But building something from scratch still takes time, even if you have the land. Even the “St. Louis” Rams used Mathews-Dickey Boys and Girls club for their first season in StL.
    by jthomas 3:17 PM

If not FA QB and the Rams use a high pick on a QB, is Foles the odd man out with Keenum, newbie and Mannion on the roster?
    by Bob Lowe 3:17 PM

Yes, I think that would be the course of action.
    by jthomas 3:17 PM

Good Day Mr. Thomas, saw an old picture i took at a Big Red game in the 70’s we were pretty low and Dad had a pretty good camera in the picture were Dierdorf, Young, Banks, Dobler, and Finnie. that was a pretty good offensive line. just thought i would share a memory
    by Bob Hruby 3:18 PM

Yeah it was. I wonder how many of them will make the all-St. Louis NFL squad that BenFred and I plan to collaborate on next fall?
    by jthomas 3:19 PM

the Rams have some cap space…..do they need an All Pro roadgrader type of guard?
    by richie 3:19 PM

It’s be nice to have another veteran on the offensive line, but I don’t think that’s in the works at guard.
    by jthomas 3:20 PM

Contract extension for Fisher? I thought stan said he wasn’t running a charity?
    by Debra Callahan 3:20 PM

Doesn’t make a lot of sense, does it?
    by jthomas 3:20 PM

Jimbo-Why does this paper continue to cover this mess of a team?
by LA RAMS SUCK 3:29 PM

Let me ask you this: If that’s how you feel, why are you participating in this chat? But I will add this: We’re spending some time on Rams coverage, but certainly not to the extent we would if they were still St. Louis-based. For every text, Twitter notification, e-mail, or chat question I get questioning Rams coverage, I get about 3 or 4 stating they still want Rams coverage. Some are even wondering why we haven’t had more Rams coverage. I think as long as there is a St. Louis connection to the team (in terms of players on the team who played in St. Louis) this will be the case to a degree. But I think you can see just by our Combine coverage and free agency coverage to date, we’ve broadened our scope considerably.
    by jthomas 3:34 PM

So the Los Angeles franchise appears to have a lot of money to spend on free agents, and of course EVERYBODY wants to be in LA. Should fans of the fightin’ kroenkes be concerned that fisher and snead are still the guys picking the players?
    by Thad 3:34 PM

Fisher/Snead track record just so-so when it comes to free agency.
    by jthomas 3:35 PM

Unfortunately not on twitter but I do follow your feed so I’d love to get a look at it.
    thanks again, Jim
    by ALE 3:35 PM

I’ll try to get something out this week. Maybe today after the chat.
    by jthomas 3:35 PM

Could you tell me what Robert Quinn said to achieve the nickname “Forget you St. Louis” from Mike Smith?
by H Remington Pinkleworth III 3:36 PM

Not sure on that one. Maybe Mike will jump in with an answer if he’s looking at the chat today.
    by jthomas 3:36 PM

With your opinion piece early on with the rams moving to stouis, you bashed the LA fans and market real good. Now with the shoe on the other foot, why are you crying so much about. Shouldn’t throw stones in a glass house.
    by Ron 3:36 PM

Huh? Are you one the right chat?
    by jthomas 3:37 PM

Well Jim you were right. A few years ago I asked the question, in the next five years what’s more likely to happen the Rams play in a SB or they move and you picked move. Not sure what you win, but maybe it’s the same thing you offered me, money if you had it to give.
    by Joe Lolly 3:41 PM

Obviously, wish I would’ve been wrong on that one.
    by jthomas 3:41 PM

I see that JPP is getting $10M for another year with the Giants. How do you feel about that deal?
by J Farnsworth Montpelier III 3:42 PM

Interesting that it’s just a one-year deal. I wonder if that $10 million includes incentives or is straight base salary and signing (or roster) bonus.
    by jthomas 3:43 PM

    Rams 6-10 in 2016: Over/under? I’ll take the under, slightly..5-11 for me.
by LA RAMS SUCK 3:43 PM

Can I get to you in early May on this one? Let’s see what free agency and the draft brings.
    by jthomas 3:43 PM

Of all the stadium promotional giveaways that you have collected over the years, which one has been your favorite?
by J Farnsworth Montpelier III 3:43 PM

I don’t collect stadium promotional giveaways. But what’s your favorite?
    by jthomas 3:44 PM

Hi Jim. Do you plan to be in London for any of the international series games? There are consecutive week games. Might be nice to sample? Also the rams play…
by All gas no grapes 3:44 PM

I really enjoyed my trip to London back in 2012. Other than Canada and Mexico, it was the first time I’ve been out of U.S. But no, I don’t think that’s in the offing. #travelbudget
    by jthomas 3:45 PM

when you hit the coliseum to report on our dearly departed male sheep, i recommend you use the restroom pre-game time first in case the stan.k & his noble entourage make their way thru!
    by MJ 3:46 PM

I agree with the “God forbid” on the Chiefs. Their owner did not do St. Louis any favors at all. I would like to see more of the Cardinals due to the STL support by Michael Bidwill.
    by RJ 3:46 PM[/i]

Technical issue. I hit two questions without answering the first one by MJ. On the bathroom availability in the Coliseum, thanks for the advice. And thanks for the explanation on the Chiefs, not that Clark Hunt’s vote made a difference.
    by jthomas 3:48 PM

I cant get sour taste out that the NFL, Enos, Jones, demoff, and all supporting cast left with me two months ago. I find myself only following the Rams to watch them self destruct and am hoping the league gets mired down in multiple problems. I was not like this when the Big Red moved and don’t think I will ever like the league again. Are you running into this with a lot of St. Louisans, or do you see it going away?
    by RJ 3:49 PM

Trust me, based on the feedback I’m getting, you’re not alone.
    by jthomas 3:49 PM

Jim,Will the private vote for the Rams to LA that went 30-2 ever be released so we can see which owners voted which way?
    by TexasNotaCowboy 3:50 PM

    I doubt it.
    by jthomas 3:50 PM

Is Osweiler the best free agent QB on the market, or is it Fitzpatrick? QB position aside, which roster is better: the Rams or the Jets?
    by Zach 3:50 PM

if you’re Fitz,, wouldn’t you prefer throwing to Marshall and Decker? I think I like Fitz better than Osweiler at this point. More of a known commodity.
    by jthomas 3:51 PM

ok i guess i will have to wait and see if you pick Dierdorf or Pace for LT i am so looking forward to that squad, i hope you do a second team and honorable mention
    by Bob Hruby 3:51 PM

I hope the post keeps covering the rams because watching this train wreck and having no good feelings towards them will be most entertaining! I’ll grab some popcorn and watch la react to 6-10 seasons!
    by Debra Callahan 3:53 PM[/i]

    We’ll see what happens.
    by jthomas 3:54 PM

Is Ron on the right planet?
    by Debra Callahan 3:54 PM

    Not sure.
    by jthomas 3:54 PM

Jim please don’t leave us! You are better than my therapist!
    by Ramfan 3:54 PM

    Not going anywhere.
    by jthomas 3:54 PM

Is Quick done for with the Rams? What in your mind are his shortcomings?
    by Carolina Ram 3:54 PM

The only way I see him returning is for a very modest contract. Les Snead said at the combine that the team would like to have him back. Then again, coaches and GMs usually say they want everybody back.
    by jthomas 3:55 PM

I have been a Rams fan since 1969. I’m from Long Island, NY. As a little boy fell in love with the helmet horns and Gabriel to Snow. They have broken more heart over the years five ways to Sunday but I ALWAYS stuck with them. They are my team. I can only imagine how difficult it is to lose a “hometown” team but the shear number of supposed fans who are pledging to jump ship is appalling. The entire definition of fan comes from fanatic. Leave, all of you!! Go to the Chiefs, they can have you!! If you were truly a Ram fan, you would die a Ram fan. I’m ashamed of all of you.
    by Garry 3:56 PM

Thanks for the input Gary. But it’s kind of a St. Louis thing. We’re very provincial on some things.
    by jthomas 3:57 PM

    Aloha Jim:
In your opinion, why were the Rams unable to re-sign any of their own free agents prior to the March 9, 2016 free agency start date?
    by ramsfanmike105@yahoo.com 3:57 PM

Well, we’re still 24 hours away from the March 9 free agency start date. But I really thought they’d have some signings by now.
    by jthomas 3:58 PM

RG3. Triple threat run option Gurley Tavon and RG3. No?
    by Ramfan 3:58 PM

But can RGIII still run after those knee issues?
    by jthomas 3:59 PM

With TO jumping over Bruce and Holt for the HOF and more receivers with numbers coming do you believe Bruce and Holt get in any time soon??
    by fin 3:59 PM

I think there may be some momentum for Bruce in the next year or two.
    by jthomas 4:00 PM

Can you give us a good rumor? Awful quite for the Rams so far
    by Ramfan 4:00 PM

There is a large moving van in the parking lot at Rams Park.
    by jthomas 4:00 PM

Seems like Demoff tells everyone to test the market and then we will see if we are interested. Why not say here is a take it or leave it offer before free agency when he has leverage?
    by Ramfan 4:00 PM

I don’t think take it or leave it is the best approach on this.
    by jthomas 4:01 PM

I saw your comment on the all time St. Louis team. It is amazing how many great superstar or HOF players came through St. Louis. For all the bad seasons we as fans endured there sure was a ton of talent. I would even say that if each city had a all time team and they could play each other…….St Louis could more than hold their own. Mel Gray as a backup…..OJ Anderson as a number 3 on depth chart…….
    by John 4:01 PM

No doubt, we’ve had our share of star players. By the way, I don’t believe I answered the previous question about Pace or Dierdorf at left tackle. Here’s a hint; Didn’t Dierdorf play right tackle?
    by jthomas 4:03 PM

Hi Jim. Hope all is well. I’m curious as to how the Rams handle their OTA’s in regards to the public. Are they open sometimes?
    by Cutman 4:03 PM

Cutman, hope you’re well. I’ve never heard of an OTA practice being open. Not one was open during the Rams’ time in St. Louis. Maybe they make an exception or two for this first season in LA.
    by jthomas 4:04 PM

Tell Garry to stick it!!! I with you and R.J. I am still pi$$ed-off and bitter! We lost our team and ALL for nothing more than greed.
by ChiefMan former STLRamMan 4:04 PM

    There’s this. . . . .
    by jthomas 4:05 PM

Oh no, Garry’s from Long Island is ashamed of us? Sorry to let you down Gar, but in case you didn’t notice over the past 4 years, the owner treated our city like crap and napalmed us on the way out. Believe me, if he could make a buck by trashing Long Island he would do it in a heartbeat.
    by JK 4:05 PM

    And there’s this. . . . .
    by jthomas 4:05 PM

Jim as many know I am NOT a fan of Fishers for a number of reasons. But in all fairness do we need to give him credit for getting 7 wins with back up qb’s? How much credit should he get if any? This is after all a very tough sport to win in.
    by Cutman 4:06 PM

No doubt. But they’ve had four offseasons to get it right at QB. Four offseasons, lots of draft picks, and millions of free-agent dollars.

I vote Chiefs! Thad, it truly is a great place to go see a game. “And the home of the… C-H-I-E-F-S!!!!!!! Trust me its worth every penny and not too far away. I recommend games in October and November for those used to the dome and not true outdoor elements.

The Red Sea. . .and tailgate heaven.

Hey Jim, I am still searching for my “Four Pillars of Crap”. If the Rams find it during the move please let me know. Thanks!
    by Steve Spagnuolo 4:08 PM

I think they’ll be loading the pillars onto the moving vans in a couple of weeks.
    by jthomas 4:09 PM

I guess there are no ex-titans or Auburn players for the Rams to go for. I really thought Kelechi Osemele would have been worth a look. Could play guard or tackle. Look out for the Raiders. They have drafted great the last three years and are picking good FA & they have $$ to spend. Any FA you think the Rams should give an offer to?
    by fin 4:09 PM

If the initial reports are correct, and sometimes they’re not, can you believe $12 million a year? Funny money season is upon us. The Raiders do look like a team on the rise. If you’re talking about outside free agents, why not Fitzpatrick or Osweiler, and at least look into RGIII.

Just how bad of a human being is Martz to be black balled the way he has?
    by Cutman 4:12 PM

I think Mike Martz is a fine human being. High maintenance in some areas, yes. But a great football mind, and a good person.
    by jthomas 4:13 PM

Your 3 biggest realistic signings for the Rams are? If you had to pick 3 FA’s we lose, they are?
    by Illinifan 4:13 PM

Hayes, Barron and a QB to be determined. 3 that they may lose: Jenkins, Fairley, not sure on third.
    by jthomas 4:14 PM

Saw my first LA Rams gear today in Palm Springs (Gurley). Still no
    hats
    by Rams41 4:15 PM

Interesting. I’m sure the hats are coming.
    by jthomas 4:15 PM

Then where is Martz ? Nowhere to be found in a pass happy league. Bring him back I say!
    by Cutman 4:17 PM

Mike turns 65 in May. A little late to be starting a comeback.
    by jthomas 4:17 PM

Jim, Any more word on that game that Isaac Bruce is organizing at the dome? I believe that would be late June.
    by RJ 4:17 PM

Nothing new to report. Group is still trying to nail down the date.
    by jthomas 4:18 PM

For all of you St. Louis fans considering getting “Sunday Ticket” on Direct TV to watch the Rams….if you wait two to three weeks to sign up you will get it at a heavily discounted rate.
I did it that way for the last 20 years.
    by mr 4:18 PM

    Free advice. . . . .
    by jthomas 4:18 PM

Nice update on the picture Jim. The tie is a classy touch.
    by Cutman 4:18 PM

I’ll have to check it out.
    by jthomas 4:18 PM

Hey Jim, with Fishers love for the run what are we really needing from at QB to win 10 games? Seems to me a quality TE and #1 WR are more important . If we had that I think Keenum gets to 10 wins. Your thoughts?
    by simdaddy 4:19 PM

Well, he’s loved the run for four years now, and we still haven’t seen 10 wins.
    by jthomas 4:19 PM

I think the sooner that Jenkins is off this team the better. I dont think he could ever cash the cheques that his mouth was writing. Ill take my chances with Gaines and dont let the door hit you on the way out. 9 Million for 5 years is far from disrespectful. Where is Steve Smith when you need him
    by simdaddy 4:19 PM

Like I said, all signs point to Jenkins going to the highest bidder.
    by jthomas 4:20 PM

    Gary for president! Lol
In all fairness didn’t the former Vegas show girl leave LA for similar reasons ? Even less money and she bolted. We stayed true and the evidence of true fans showed up in Oxnard last summer.
    by Cutman 4:20 PM

    Counterpoint. . . . .
    by jthomas 4:20 PM

So if the Chargers get a deal in SD, the Raiders can move into stan’s palace and share the la market with the Rams? I cannot imagine anything sweeter than the Raiders winning the fans of la over while playing as a tenant inglewood. Go Raiders!
    by Debra Callahan 4:21 PM

    Stranger things have happened.
    by jthomas 4:21 PM

But we never had a #1 wr or a good catching TE. Would we move Foles for a draft pick in any round?
    by simdaddy 4:22 PM

Well, you still need someone to consistently get them the football don’t you?
    by jthomas 4:22 PM

What was it about Boras that turned the team’s offensive fortunes around? Hi splaycalling? Rams’ players like him better? He had Keenum? The opposing defenses got weaker?
    by bfulton 4:22 PM

Well, it wasn’t as if the Rams were suddenly scoring 35 points a game under Boras. But the schedule lightened up some. He stayed committed to the running game, and seemed to renew the commitment to getting Austin the football.
    by jthomas 4:24 PM

How quickly will they be razing the practice facility in Earth City? Would it be available for rent to play some touch football games on?
by F Simington Papelbon IV 4:24 PM

I don’t think anything has been decided on what to do with the Earth City facility. I’ve mentioned this before, I think it might make a nice headquarters for an MLS team.
    by jthomas 4:26 PM

Boras was not just a run, run, run, punt type of guy. Sometimes he would go run, pass, run, punt.
    by fred 4:26 PM

    True.
    by jthomas 4:26 PM

    Foles for Kapernick?
    by Rams41 4:26 PM

Don’t think San Fran makes that deal, do you, especially w/Chip Kelly with the 49ers. He’s the guy that dealt Foles to St. Louis a year ago.
    by jthomas 4:27 PM

Thanks for keeping the talks going. Do you think K. Benjamin WR would be worth FA$ and an upgrade??
    by fin 4:27 PM

He’s tiny and strictly a slot receiver. Where do you play him with the Rams? The Rams have Austin in the slot most of the time.
    by jthomas 4:28 PM

Any update on the lawsuit filed by Reggie Bush against the operators of the Ed Jones Dome?
by F Simington Papelbon IV 4:28 PM

    Haven’t heard anything.
