    Rams DB Jalen Ramsey gave an emphatic response to the criticism he’s seen of DC Raheem Morris just now. Re: “soft coverage” comments, Ramsey said Morris gives DBs the freedom to play press on some looks, off on other looks. (more in this thread)

    “He gives us the freedom to use all the tools that he’s taught us,” Ramsey said.

    Used analogy of how you use multiple tools, not just the best one, to build a house – DBs don’t use the same tool on every rep in a game to accomplish their goals.

    Ramsey: “We choose the techniques we want to play. We choose sometimes whether we want to press or whether we want to play off. At the end of the day, if y’all want to blame me, I don’t give a damn, blame me. But it ain’t Rah. I can tell you that.”

    Based on his explanation and the way I interpreted it, my guess is it could be because of the technique the DBs are choosing to play based on the look they’re getting. They’re also trying to limit explosive plays and keep stuff underneath
