Rams re-sign Morgan Fox, release Tanzel Smart
    Stu Jackson Staff Writer

The Los Angeles Rams have re-signed defensive end Morgan Fox.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Rams in 2016 out of Colorado State-Pueblo, Fox became a restricted free agent at the start of the new league year after his one-year deal the club expired on March 18. Although he missed the 2018 season due to injury, he still amassed 42 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one safety across the 36 games he appeared in during the 2016, 2017 and 2019 seasons combined.

To make room for Fox, the Rams have released defensive tackle Tanzel Smart. A 2017 sixth-round pick out of Tulane, Smart produced 20 total tackles and one pass breakup across 31 games in a Rams uniform.

tanzel smart was probably not needed. they still got greg gaines no? and now they got robinson.

plus i got a feeling about this hoecht kid. not at nose tackle. but i think he could play 3-4 defensive end. long and lots of athleticism.

Plus Sebastian-Day. Who can maybe back-up the DE spot some too.

These are their DL/DT candidates (Fox not listed yet):

    Eric Banks DL 6-5 275
    Michael Brockers DL 6-5 305
    Michael Hoecht DL 6-4 310
    Sam Renner DL 6-4 275
    Jonah Williams DL 6-5 275

    Marquise Copeland DT 6-2 287
    Aaron Donald DT 6-1 280
    Greg Gaines DT 6-1 312
    Sebastian Joseph-Day DT 6-4 310
    A’Shawn Robinson DT 6-4 330

Banks btw (2020 UDFA) was a high school qb who played under Rams DL coach Eric Henderson as a freshman at UT San Antonio.

Anyway counting Fox that’s 11 candidates for 6-7 positions.

Though I’m betting that Darren Arnold guy (#99) makes the team this time.
