Baker Trashfield’s offensive line is rated 2nd to last in the NFL. No Cooper Kupp. No Allen Robinson. No running game. And Trashfield has been thrown into this dumpster fire on “Thursday Night Football” with all new terminology after just arriving! But … he’s trash.

    Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond
This is the best preseason fourth quarter I’ve ever seen.

    Stu Jackson@StuJRams
Arrived in LA Tuesday night, basically a day and a half of prep (maybe a little less), and Baker Mayfield leads a 98-yard, game-winning scoring drive in his first game as a Ram.

Sean McVay said the Rams got in two 10-play periods in QB Baker Mayfield’s lone practice with team this week.

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
Ninety-eight yards and a TD to win it after 40 hours on the team and like fifty total practice throws, mostly in drills. Cannot believe what I just saw….50-ish throws, and no full-field stuff because Weds was a red zone day. Makes the TD throw in a big spot. Lots to clean up, but dang the Rams needed this one. They’ve broken a six-game losing streak.

Rams made a “why the hell not” move at QB, a “why the hell not” move in playing him like 40 hours after he landed in LA. Staying on the field on fourth and goal because “why the hell not?”

    Emmanuel Acho@EmmanuelAcho
Baker just led the Rams 98 yards down the field, with no timeouts, for a go ahead TD on 2 days notice.

Baker Mayfield hasn’t had a passer rating this high in literally 1 year. Week 14 of 2021.

    Geoff Schwartz@geoffschwartz
Mayfield needs to go 97 yards in less than 2 minutes with no timeouts in an offense he’s been studying for 48 hours. Good luck.

One of the more impressive single drives I’ve seen. Well done Baker

    Fishkiller@FV_Mylia_Lynn
I know everyone is down on Raheem Morris, but his group has held the Raiders to 13 points through 3 quarters – w/out AD or Robinson on the DL.

    Blaine Grisak@bgrisakDTR
Three of the Raiders losses this season have come after blowing 10+ point leads (ARI, KC, JAX).

    Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
I don’t know if I can count on two hands how many mistakes the Raiders made to keep the Rams in that game Baker made em pay, which was awesome to see

Rams QB Baker Mayfield said he and WR Van Jefferson go back — Mayfield tried recruiting Jefferson to Oklahoma, but Jefferson wouldn’t return his texts or calls. Mayfield joked postgame that Jefferson “owed him one.” They connect on game-winning TD.

Baker Mayfield hits Van Jefferson with 15 seconds left for the 23-yard touchdown. Holy crap.

Baker Mayfield, walking back through locker room to exits, turns to a PR staffer: “Alright, where the hell do I go?”

    Sarah Barshop@sarahbarshop
Van Jefferson said this is the first game-winning touchdown he’s ever caught. At any level.

    Jordan Schultz@Schultz_Report
Text from an NFL executive on Baker Mayfield: “This is what Sean [McVay] does for quarterbacks. Credit Mayfield for getting himself ready too. Not easy to do. But Sean is different.”

    Ben Salagus@Carl_noWinslow
Rams RedZone defense is probably the best part of the team this year. It’s not much definitely a bright spot

    TurfShowTimes@TurfShowTimes
In the last 5 years, Sean McVay:
-Took Jared Goff to the Super Bowl
-Helped Matthew Stafford become a Super Bowl champion
-Just did whatever that was with Baker Mayfield

Gonna go ahead and say that QBs should stop going to other teams.

    Fishkiller@FV_Mylia_Lynn
The win itself was great. The Baker Mayfield aspect was amazing. The fact it was against the Raiders, who are coached by that douche Josh McDaniels was a fantastic bonus. All of that together makes it one of my favorite Rams wins ever.

Dud of a matchup turns into one of the sports moments of the year. Just wild.

McVay: “just like we drew it up.”

    Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond
Won’t blow things out of proportion here, but a game/ending like this really is something the Rams can hang onto for the long term. It clearly showed that there’s still a strong heartbeat in the locker room, which is important to know (and not a given in their situation).
    .
    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
LT Ty Nsekhe told me the Rams ran an informal “language” walkthrough this morning specifically for a two-min situation before getting on the buses. “It worked out.” Normal to have a walkthrough like that? “He just got here,” he said, laughing, “so, not really normal at all.”

Absolutely no chance anyone has ever come in on less than 2 days and lead a two score 4th quarter comeback, no chance it’s ever been done before… Absolutely no shot
    .
    roberto clemente@rclemente2121
tonight was just the 3rd time since 2001 (last 22 years) that the rams drove the ball 98 or more yards for a td, altho niether of the previous 2 times were 4th quarter game-winning drives…
    .
mcvay, mayfield and the offense deserve all the props in the world for the dramatic win, but it wouldn’t have been possible without morris’s defense holding the #6 ranked scoring offense to just 16 pts, the 2nd fewest pts lvg has been held to all season.
    .
    Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
Not discrediting the Rams or Mayfield whatsoever, BUT the Raiders played that game exactly how a team does when it overlooks an opponent. Run-heavy, play not to lose, mental mistakes, poor coaching. They took the Rams lightly.

the Panthers board is hilarious right now.

    One quote:

Dude looked better after 30 hours with McVay, a dozen plays on a wristband, and practice squaders at OT and WR than he ever did here. Reality check.

The Rams’ defense allowed 67 yards and 2 first downs in the entire 2nd half. Davante Adams did not make a catch on 3 targets. Derek Carr went went 2 of 7 for 11 yards.

    Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
Asked Rob Havenstein about some of the in-game communication with Baker Mayfield. He laughed. “Some of it we were kinda learning on the fly,” said Havenstein. …”We’d give him a little synopsis, and he was like, ‘alright, f–ck it.'”
    .
    Blaine Grisak@bgrisakDTR
Did anyone notice that adjustment in personnel from Raheem Morris? Keir Thomas comes in for Michael Hoecht who was struggling to set the edge. Made a nice play immediately to set up the red zone stop.

What a performance with such limited practice. Bakers ability to pickup a playbook and good memory has been something he’s always been praised about coming out of college

Baker Mayfield becomes an instant L.A. hero in shocking Rams comeback win
Baker Mayfield orchestrates an almost unbelievable drive on the Rams’ final possession, finding the end zone in the final seconds of a 17-16 comeback win over the Raiders that ends L.A.’s six-game losing streak.

Here’s what you need to know

    <main class=”page-main”>

Sean McVay did not waste any time.

Check that: The Rams coach allowed more than 12 minutes to expire before he could not control himself any longer.

The evaluation of new quarterback Baker Mayfield needed to commence.

Forget that Mayfield arrived only 48 hours earlier.

Mayfield came on in place of starter John Wolford for the second series of Thursday night’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders. And on his first snap, he completed a 21-yard pass.

But it was the finish that fans will remember.

“I don’t know if you could write it any better than that,” Mayfield said.

The Rams could not have felt better. They ended a six-game losing streak and improved their record to 4-9.

“You forget what winning’s like,” McVay said, “and it sure is fun.”

And four more chances for Mayfield to continue to make his case.

McVay had said on Wednesday that it would be “unprecedented” for a quarterback to play with so little preparation with a new team.

Well, these are unprecedented times for McVay and the defending Super Bowl-champion Rams, who have nose-dived with a Super Bowl hangover.

Stafford, 34, is on injured reserve because of spinal cord contusion and is expected to be out for the rest of the season.

    Raiders Fans, Post Game Edition

Wow offsides, on a punt, give Rams life.

They going to score because of the fucking punt penalty unbelievable

Raiders haven’t turned any corner, still play down to the teams level their playing.

    Fuck how can this happen?

    Unbelievable absolutely unbelievable

    Complete disaster

    Raiders lose….season now officially over.

Holy shit what a fucking meltdown against a depleted team

(Carr) sucks, baker mayfield on 2 days kicked his ass

That is 100% on the defense. Sorry. But it is. 98 yards no timeouts and can’t make a stop

Dude had no practice. Fucking embarrassing.

raiders gave the rams 2 1st downs thanks to penalties keeping rams in the game and then carr goes 3 and out and baker mayfield kicks our ass

Mayfield will not have another good game this season watch

Has to be the most embarrassing loss in franchise history

minus ashawn robinson, minus aaron donald and baker mayfield has exactly 1 days witht he playbook and still outplayed (Carr)

Raiders have absolutely one of the worst Ds in football. Crosby is literally the only shining light, they single handedly lost this game with the shitty penalties. Jalen Ramsey is literally the best in the league.

carr sucks 134 yds, 2 ints, 1 tds vs a depleted rams defense minus aaron donald, ashawn robinson

F—, if we had picked up baker mayfield and had him start vs the rams we would have won today..

When Baker spiked the ball at 16 seconds we should’ve called a timeout. Bracket the sidelines and cover the endzone with the safeties. Give the rushers a breather. Thats McDaniels being outcoached. They have 3 plays….maybe depending on Mayfield

    Mayfield beat us… Mayfield!

Baker Mayfield out plays Carr, after being signed off waivers on Tuesday, can’t make this shit up..

Up 16-10, 3:15 left to play, @Raiders run Josh Jacobs three straight times into the middle of the line of scrimmage – including from the fullback position on third down, with Jakob lined up at TE on opposite side oh where the run went. Weird play calling on a three and out.
    .
The Raiders have only themselves to blame. Period. With a lot of Baker Mayfield thrown in.
Bottom line, you can’t knock the ball out of a QB’s hand, after the play, right in front of the referee, for a no-brainer 15-yard penalty. You can’t be offsides, defensively, on a third down & four or on a punt to gift-wrap first downs. You just can’t.
    .
I call it like I see it. I’ve been doing this for a long time. Intelligence and poise, especially in critical moments, are critical. If the Raiders had played poised and smart down the stretch, they win that game. twitter.com/tjgorton/statu…
Every championship team I ever covered or was around, got it done from an above-the-shoulder standpoint when it counted. That was the difference between them and their opponents. The coaching, in those moments, took a back seat to precise execution.
    .
Thoughts on Baker Mayfield: He still has a cannon. He’s smart. He can sling it. He’s obviously fearless. He’s still just 27 years old. He has a chance to pick his spot next year. Give him the right coach, system and infrastructure, and he still has a chance in this league
