BALTIMORE — The Rams did not release an official list “will not play” list 90 minutes before gametime, but — as expected — only two starters will be in the game for Los Angeles.
Only right guard Jamon Brown and outside linebacker Samson Ebukam will start against the Ravens in the Rams’ preseason opener.
That means Sean Mannion will get the start at quarterback for Los Angeles. The fourth-year pro has excelled during the preseason in the past, engineering a game-winning drive against the Raiders last year. He’s expected to have wideouts Josh Reynolds, Pharoh Cooper, and Mike Thomas alongside him to begin the contest.
Defensively, cornerbacks Kevin Peterson and Troy Hill should take the majority of snaps on the outside. Cornerback Sam Shields may also play in his first game action since the 2016 regular season, having signed with the club in March.
On special teams, kicker Greg Zuerlein is expected to play in his first game action since undergoing back surgery last December.
Los Angeles selected Zuerlein, Mannion, safety Blake Countess, running back Malcolm Brown, and linebacker Bryce Hager as captains for Thursday’s contest.
