Los Angeles Rams Give QB Case Keenum First-Round RFA Tender

You’re not taking the Rams’ starting QB without coughing up a 1st round pick.
The Los Angeles Rams were heading into free agency with the quarterback position being their biggest need; not necessarily their “Priority A,” which is falling apart with the loss of each defensive player.
Notable QB’s like Sam Bradford, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Brock Osweiler, and Robert Griffin III lead what appeared to be a already shallow pool of free agent quarterbacks. And the pool is drying quickly.
Bradford re-upped with the Eagles last week. And now Rand Getlin, of NFL Network, is reporting that Osweiler is also off the board…
The Broncos, fearful of losing Osweiler, have been rumored to be interested in Colin Kaepernick, RG3, and have called Rams’ QB Case Keenum their “Plan C,” if Osweiler and Kaep were to fall through. One of those dominos has fallen.
In related news, the Rams have also placed a first round tender on Case Keenum, meaning the team would receive a 1st round pick if he were to sign elsewhere, assuming they weren’t to match the outside offer. It’s probably a wise move by the Rams who say they’d like for Keenum to compete for the starting QB spot in 2016.
Stay tuned, as this story is far from over.

As a reminder, the tendering process works as follows:
A high tender means the team is awarded ~$3.582m and a first-round pick.
A medium tender nets ~$2.516m and a second-round pick.
A low tender results in ~$1.647m and a pick from the same round in which the player was originally selected through the NFL Draft.
