NFL chat with Jim Thomas
http://sports.live.stltoday.com/Event/NFL_chat_with_Jim_Thomas_16?Page=2
The Rams may have left St. Louis, but at least they are continuing the tradition of drafting lots of tight ends. By the way, Jim, I usually post my questions here using tags of Big Red players from the 70’s, and you deserve props for recognizing them!
by Jackie Smith 2:11 PMI was at Jackie Smith’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 1994. What a good man. As for the Rams draft, well they needed tight ends due to the departure of Jared Cook. They had only 3 tight ends on the 9o-man offseason roster before this weekend in Kendricks, Harkey (who’s more of a fullback than tight end anyway), and Cunningham.
by jthomas 2:14 PMHey Jim – great post this AM on your take on the Broncos draft (especially as I’m a huge Denver fan). I get the sense that Dallas feels like they blew it on not going bigger to get Lynch. Some people make a big deal about Wonderlic test scores. Had me wondering: a – how did Lynch do? b – does it actually seem to translate into how well a player actually can develop?
by ATLBob 2:14 PMYeah our good friend Jerry Jones said post-draft that he regretted not bumping up the offer to get Lynch. As for Wonderlic scores, I know both Goff and Wentz scored very high. But I don’t know how Lynch fared. As for if the score translates into how a player develops, I’m not sure there’s a direct correlation. Although a high score does indicate overall intelligence, that doesn’t mean it will always translate on the field. For example, Ryan Fitzpatrick had an extremely high score when he came out but we still see him throw a dumb interception from time to time.
by jthomas 2:19 PMStill have you on my favs, read you daily during the season. I’m a Ram fan since the 50’s, I feel your loss but its my thrill
by Gary DeSutter, from San… 2:19 PMThanks for reading.
by jthomas 2:19 PMI think Goff wins the job as he’s better than the rest. My question: is this receiving corps good enough to win a playoff game?
by LA Troll 2:19 PMI have my doubts. We pretty much know what Britt is at this point in his career. We’re not sure at this point if Bailey is even playing in 2016. Tavon Austin was used more and was more effective last year, but he still really hasn’t developed into much of an intermediate and long route runner. Maybe Brian Quick surprises us this year, but I was surprised that the Rams brought him back. Bradley Marquez has some room to grow, and was a pleasant surprise last year, but I’m not sure that his ceiling is that high. For where they were drafted, I kind of like the two rookie wideouts, though it’s debatable how much Cooper and Thomas can contribute this year..
by jthomas 2:25 PMI think “Welcome Home” may not necessarily mean what you think it means. It’s not the same thing as “Welcome to the place where you began your existence.” For 49 years, the Rams called Los Angeles home. And while St. Louis provided a wonderful home for them for the past 21 years, I don’t really equate a “Welcome Home” banner to a slap at St. Louis. I understand it still hurts, and it will for a long while. But not everything is intended as an affront to St. Louis. At least, in my humble opinion.
by Scott 2:25 PMYou know “Welcome Back” would’ve been much more palatable than “Welcome Home” _ that’s all I’m saying. “Welcome Home” makes is sound like the Rams were lost in the wilderness for 21 years in the Midwest. “Welcome Home” makes it sound like the Rams have always and should always belong to Los Angeles. And that’s what rankles Rams fans in St Louis. The franchise spent its first 10 years in Cleveland, 33 in Los Angeles, and then 16 in Anaheim, which is what an hour’s drive south of LA on a good day. So this is a franchise that has moved around.
by jthomas 2:30 PMJim, will you be coming to California at all to cover the Rams? It is strange when there are Rams press conferences without your presence. I understand the Post Dispatch may still be trying to figure out what they want to do pertaining to NFL coverage, but at the minimum I thought you should have been sent to LA on draft day.
by stratis 2:31 PMI spent the first round in Chicago which was both interesting and different The plan is for me to come out to Irvine for the first weekend of training camp and then cover the first home game of the regular season. But that’s about it. As you may have noticed, we’re still providing some coverage of the team, particularly with some on-line stories, but certainly not to the same degree we would if the team were still based in St, Louis. The responses I get have been all over the map. St. Louis fans still fuming over the move get mad. Fans in St, Louis that still want to cover the team get mad that we’re not covering them like we did before. I get it. I understand. We’ll push forward.
by jthomas 2:37 PMI saw many reports suggest that all “indications” were that the Rams were taking Goff. Obviously, they were proved right but what were those “indications”?
by bfulton 2:37 PM1.) Reports that the Eagles traded up knowing they would get Wentz because the Rams were taking Goff; 2.) Mike Silver of NFL Network, who is very close to Fisher, kept dropping very strong hints that it would be Goff. No big mystery here.
by jthomas 2:40 PMDo you buy the comparisons ESPN was making between Goff and Montana? A little bit of a stretch, don’t you think?
by Jeff 2:40 PMWell, they both wear jersey No. 16.
by jthomas 2:40 PMDraft Day at LA LIVE had over 4,000 people. Could have had more, but they limited the number of folks allowed in because it was a private event. Probably a good 300-500 hundred standing around the perimeter getting a glance of what was going on. About 20 players or so in attendance, plus the new Cheerleaders with Rampage. This team will be supported, win or lose!
by Jeff 2:40 PMWe’ll see. Hopefully you won’t have to go through 13 consecutive non-winning seasons, including an NFL-record worst five-year stretch of 15-65 to find out. Not to mention have an owner who wants to move the team and doesn’t engage the fans or local media for four years.
by jthomas 2:43 PMLet’s see a decade of losing football before proclaiming support win or lose. It certainly didn’t work that way the first go around in LA.
by Doug 2:43 PMI was covering the team in 1995 when it moved to St. Louis and the reception was pretty crazy here too.
by jthomas 2:44 PMJim – one of the LA trolls on NFL talk gives us an idea of how they are buying into the Pied Piper of Kroenke brain-dead thinking. He says the Rams are doing the right thing by not signing any real free agents and instead signing their own free agents by investing in the players who have already established the “learning curve.” Learning curve? LOL, they have been under the learning curve for the past 12 years. These LA people claim to have the money to buy exorbitant PSLs for the new staduim…they should have bought NFL Ticket last year and looked at what they’re buying into.
by DrMizzou 2:45 PMIt was important for the Rams to retain some of their own free agents. Why waste all those extra draft picks you received in the RGIII deal and various spinoff moves? But if the Rams would’ve re-signed a couple of free agents before the 2015 season instead of after, they would’ve had the money to go out and get an outside free agent or two. I think they were too consumed with the move at the time.
by jthomas 2:48 PMWhat do you think of the TE from W. Kentucky? His highlight reel makes him look like a pretty tough s of b!
by Jeff 2:48 PMThere’s no doubt he’s got some talent. Believe it our not I’ve watched a few Western Kentucky games over the past couple of years on TV. It’s just not the off-field issue that could be a concern with him. I think there are durability issues as well. In college he was redshirted in ’12 due to a broken collarbone. He played in 7 games in ’13 before suffering a stress fracture in his foot. He missed a couple of games in ’14 with a knee injury, and then missed 5 games last season with a knee injury.
by jthomas 2:53 PMDid you ever catch any of P. Cooper’s games at S.Carolina? Looks like a real steal for the Rams with a round 4 pick!
by Jeff 2:53 PMCaught South Carolina a couple of times on TV. I was surprised to see him still available in the fourth round given his college production in ’14 and ’15. Although he’s not as fast or elusive as Tavon Austin, he brings that kind of versatility. And we all know how much Jeff Fisher likes those gadget plays. I think he can be an effective slot receiver in the NFL.
by jthomas 2:57 PMWho’s the starting QB for the Rams for week 1?
by Jeff 2:57 PMI don’t know how you draft a QB No. 1 overall, and give up all those picks to get him and not have him starting on opening day.
by jthomas 2:58 PMDo you think Zeke will take over the RB1 job even with DMC and Alfred Morris there?
by Jeff 2:58 PMI’d be surprised if Elliott wasn’t the Day 1 starter in Dallas. Very surprised. Blocking and pass-catching skills often hold back rookie RBs. But those areas are both strengths for Ezekiel. His one-cut and go style I think is ideally suited for that big Dallas o-line. I see McFadden as a change-of-pace guy and Morris as the odd man out of the rotation.
by jthomas 3:01 PMWhat is your assessment of the Rams’ draft?
by Roy Earl 3:01 PMBig gamble to trade all those picks to move up for Goff. I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the concept that he’s a true franchise QB. We’ll see. But the way their QB play has been for most of Fisher’s tenure, if Goff is just pretty good,, that could be enough to get this team in the playoffs. I like what they did in drafting the 2 wide receivers. Personally, I really value college production in evaluating talent for the draft, and Cooper and Thomas caught a lot of passes last season. And in Cooper’s case, a lot of passes over the past two season. At tight end, Higbee is a boom-or-bust pick for both off-field and durability issues, as I detail in an earlier answer. Hemingway appears to have a lot of potential but is raw and may take a while. It’s hard to give even an instant grade on this draft because it all hinges on Goff. And minus those picks the Rams sent to Tennessee, the Rams have some depth issues at linebacker and defensive tackle. Not sure who’s the free safety right now.
by jthomas 3:09 PMPerhaps the people of the St. Louis region would be more understanding about some marketing choices if the rams and the nfl hadn’t conspired to reenact the Shawshank Redemption’s rape scene with St. Louis in the role of Andy Dufraine. The relocation was dirty, dirty business. Sorry if we’re not in better spirits about it.
by Bill Hilly 3:09 PMWasn’t pretty. From the relocation guidelines being a sham, to the farce that was the town hall meeting and before that the focus groups. To the rebuke of the stadium committee. To Kroenke’s trashing of the market in his relocation proposal. To Kroenke’s refusal to engage the market here in stark contrast to how the Raiders and Chargers handled things at their end. For many St. Louiisans, I get the sense this would have been easier to take _ not easy, but at least easier to take _ if Kroenke has merely said, “I have a chance to build a showcase stadium in the nation’s second-largest market. Try and stop me.”
by jthomas 3:15 PMOne more Denver question for you, Jim – with Pat Bowlen’s health situation, have you heard any rumors on how the Broncos future ownership will go? ESPN had a pretty funny story in February how Elway has no stake today in the team (http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14707017/john-elway-once-passed-chance-big-stake-denver-broncos-nfl) but I’d have to imagine he is definitely in the frame for the future. The team is going nowhere, but Pat’s health situation I’m sure has to lead to clarity around the direction from other league owners.
by ATLBob 3:15 PMI have not heard anything in a while. But I don’t think the team is going anywhere. I believe the league in the relatively recent past also relaxed its estate tax guidelines to a degree as well, which should make it easier to keep the franchise in the family.
by jthomas 3:17 PMDo you know how much longer you will continue with these chats?
by Jeff 3:18 PMWe’ll be back next week, then I’m taking my annual late spring, early summer hiatus for a while. But plans are for the chats to resume before the start of training camps.
by jthomas 3:19 PMWhat do you make of the Buccaneers trading up to take a kicker in round 2? Did their GM fall and hit his head the morning of the draft?
by Bill Hilly 3:19 PMMake no mistake, Aguayo was a dominant college kicker. But second round? And trading up to the second round? He better be great. I couldn’t help thinking back to the ’95 Rams taking K Steve McLaughlin in Round 3, and that McLaughlin was back in Arizona before the end of the season playing with his band “Pet the Fish.” (I actually saw them playing in a Phoenix area club during a Rams-Cardinals trip.) That’s why I had the Buccaneers as one of my losers in today’s winners & losers look back at the 2016 draft. Here’s the link to the story:
Thomas: Winners (Broncos, Titans) and losers (Browns, Bucs) in NFL draft
stltoday.com
Some moves look silly, some shrewd, in immediate aftermath of draft.
by jthomas 3:25 PMI wasn’t the biggest football fan to begin with, but the Rams relocation process has turned me off permanently. For a league that touts the toughness of its athletes, they sure have some of the weakest sniveling cowards for owners. I would much rather have had the NFL come out and say that the owners can move their team if they want to rather than pretending to satisfy their own ambiguous “guidelines”. Or have Kroenke come out and say “I am considering moving MY team to make more money in LA, I’m sure many of you would do the same if you were in my position”. At least I can respect honesty and someone with the balls to speak what they believe even if there are repercussions. But to pretend that the relocation process was done “within the NFL guidelines” and watch billionaire owners pat each other on the back for returning the Rams to their “home” is an absolute joke. I know they are lying to their fans, I just wonder if they’re so delusional that they actually believe the lies that they’re telling. With that being said, have you lost some respect for the league overall due to their handling of the relocation process? Were you directly lied to during the process?
by Me 3:25 PMI can only remember one time when I was directly misled, and I’ve mentioned it here a couple of times I think inn past chats. That occurred after Kroenke purchased the original 60-acre plot in Inglewood (a full calendar year before announcing the actual stadium plan). At that point Kevin Demoff told me and at least one other St. Louis reporter that Kroenke purchased the land just to kick-start St. Louis into doing something. We all know now _ after hearing the early-morning phone call story about Kroenke first discovering the Inglewood site _ that wasn’t the case.
by jthomas 3:31 PMHey Jim, did you catch the Arsenal game? I got a good laugh during the boycott of the Arsenal game last weekend. Man, they hate Kroenke as much as we do. That guy got some bad press on a nationally televised game. Both of his Denver teams suck too. All the NFL likes is his money. He’s basically the dorky kid in the neighborhood with a pool. Every year, everyone is nice to him in late April and lose touch with the dork in September. And if I have to hear one more time Jerry Jones say what a God-sent Stan is I am going to puke! I’m starting to wonder if those to have something going on!
by KC Chief fan in STL 3:31 PMDid not catch the Arsenal game. It’s interesting to me that Kroenke is getting all that grief in England when Arsenal is third in the English Premier League _ out of what _ 20 teams? I know enough about it that it goes much deeper than wins and losses over there. I caught an Arsenal home game live in 2012 (It was a Champions League game) when then Rams were in London to play New England. Beautiful stadium, kind of a sterile environment I thought for English soccer. Expensive prices.
by jthomas 3:36 PMJim, I am really getting tired of this St Louis and LA back and forth barbs. You should stop posting these types of questions and comments and let’s keep the subject on football related questions. It’s getting ridiculous because nothing get accomplished but people getting mad.
by RamTough 3:38 PMWell, it’s like a messy divorce after 21 years of marriage. There are going to be harsh feelings, and they’re not going to go away for a while. And as long as the questions are in (relatively) good taste, we’re not going to block them.
by jthomas 3:40 PMapologies if you answered this. A week or so before the draft Witner was being linked with to the Rams, you hear anything?
by eman 3:40 PMOn the Whitner question, haven’t heard anything new. Could simply be a matter of the price coming down.
by jthomas 3:43 PMMike Smith with the post of the day!
by Bill Hilly 3:43 PMVery rare for my man Iron Mike to chime in. But all responses welcome here.
by jthomas 3:43 PMDoes RamTough also include the city of Chicago in his reference to STL hating? Goodell was booed EVERY time he walked to the podium – not SOME of the time, but EVERY time.
by DrMizzou 3:44 PMAs I mentioned earlier, it was my first time covering the league presentation of the draft. And that was one of my lasting impressions of Round 1 Thursday. Goodell being booed, and booed loudly, before all 31 picks. Not a good look for the league.
by jthomas 3:45 PMWhat’s your take on how the defense will be this year? Also, any news on Donte Whitner signing?
by RamTough 3:45 PMAs I just mentioned on Whitner, nothing new that I’m aware of. I think the defense has a chance to be very good this year _ a top 10 defense. But I’ve felt that way for the last couple of years and it hasn’t happened yet. Plus, the depth behind the starters, particularly in the front seven is questionable. This is not a year where the Rams can withstand a lot of injuries.
by jthomas 3:48 PMHi Jim, which if any of the Rams’ draft picks do you expect will make an impact and help the team get to the playoffs? Thanks!
by Tom 3:48 PMI think Cooper, the WR from South Carolina, has the best chance among the Day 3 picks to have an impact.
by jthomas 3:48 PM3rd round??? Come-on Jim, where’s the love! We’re going all the way baby. Especially after that dirt-bag Kroenke left town. GO BLUES. See you at the game Jim.
by Louie 3:48 PMLouie, I made my “prediction” before the playoffs started. How many Blues fans out there thought the team would even see Round 2 entering Game 7 against Chicago? Show of hands. Let’s be honest. Anyway, the town’s sports psyche could use a lift after the Rams departure, so I think a long playoff run by the Blues would be fantastic.
by jthomas 3:51 PMThe rams leave town and the Blues make it out of the first round of the playoffs, the rams start supporting the LA Kings and they lose in the first round. Coincidence?
by Bill Hilly 3:51 PMDon’t know about all that.
by jthomas 3:51 PMThis was the first year in I can’t remember how long that I haven’t watched most of the draft, at the very least the first day. I wonder how many are like me out there in STL?
by steve r 3:52 PMThoughts on this anyone?
by jthomas 3:52 PMNo plans on watching the NFL or Draft until STL gets an expansion team
by STL 3:54 PMOK, thanks for playing.
by jthomas 3:54 PMI watched the draft ever year for the last 20 years.
I didn’t watch one minute of it this year, and won’t going forward.
by Bill Hilly 3:54 PMAgain,, appreciate the input.
by jthomas 3:54 PMIt seems like every team hates their owner before they leave. In LA they hated Georga, In St Louis, they hated Mr. Bidwell. Ask an Arizona fan what they think of him. Did he change? The NFL is a business so good bye to team favorites and even a good loyal home town if they fine something better.
by Ken Michael 3:55 PMYeah, and let’s not forget about Modell in Cleveland. Or Irsay in Baltimore. Don’t know about Bud Adams in Houston. Too bad there aren’t clauses for first-tier owners.
by jthomas 3:57 PMAny win-lose predictions for this year now that the draft is over?
by Tom 3:57 PMYes, our opening line for the 2016 Rams Parade Meter is 7-9. However, Keiner Plaza is unavailable for the parade, as is all of St. Louis.
by jthomas 3:58 PMWatched only the last day at the draft party for Adam Fuehne, would never have even thought to turn in otherwise.
by Doug 3:58 PMOK, you from the Metro East area, I presume.
by jthomas 3:58 PMAll I did was watch bits & pieces of the draft. The best part was Goodell being booed every time he walked on the stage.
by Mike H. 3:58 PMThanks and have a good day.
by jthomas 3:59 PMI believe Mizzou will be more competitive than the Rams, so plan on going to more Mizzou games in the future.
by STL 3:59 PMGood for you. Maybe I’ll be up there for a game or two.
by jthomas 3:59 PMWhat was it like at the draft with the drop of Tunsil?
by Jeff 4:00 PMQuite the buzz once we saw the video on Instagram, and starting with San Diego at No. 3 some surprise as he kept sliding. Really knew it was an issue when the Ravens took Stanley at No. 6 and oh-my-gosh when the Titans moved up to No. 8 for Conklin. I was on the 6th floor in what served as the press box at Auditorium Theatre when Tunsil had his press conference (which was on the second floor). But the eye-witness reports that I got from fellow scribes who were at his media session sounded hilarious when what was believed to be the rep of Tunsil’s agent pulled him off the podium after he admitted to taking money at Ole Miss. That’s a first.
by jthomas 4:04 PMNot only skipped the draft, I had no interest in who was drafted, trades, etc. a complete 180 from years before when I actually read 7 round mocks. I made the decision to focus my efforts elsewhere and will continue to do so.
by Larry 4:05 PMLarry, have a nice day.
by jthomas 4:05 PMbest player not drafted this year?
by Jeff 4:05 PMOff the top of my head,, I’m gonna say Duke safety Jeremy Cash.
by jthomas 4:05 PMWhat was your reaction to the rams draft trades and pick of goff?
by stale peanuts 4:05 PMVery surprised by the trade-up. Not surprised at all over the pick of Goff.
by jthomas 4:06 PMHave the Rams signed any unddrafted Fa’s?
by Tom 4:08 PMUnless they’ve done so during the chat, Rams have yet to announce their rookie free agents. But at the end of my Day 3 Rams draft story, I have a list of most of the guys they are signing. One of them is related to Junior Seau. Here’s the link: http://www.stltoday.com
by jthomas 4:09 PMLeicester city won the English soccer title against 5,000-1 odds. What were the odds on the Rams prior to 1999?
by Dr D 4:09 PMRams were 250-to-1 odds before ’99. I think the odds of getting hit by a car are less than Leicesttr’s 5,000-to-1. A truly amazing story.
by jthomas 4:11 PMIn past chats, we talked about QB being a huge need. Why surprised with the trade up when it became clear that there weren’t any decent FA QB’s left?
by Jeff 4:11 PM!.) Because the Rams had many needs, more needs than I thought they’d have at this time in the offseason and not many draft picks. 2.) I think it’s highly debatable if Goff is truly a franchise QB worth trading 6 picks for.
by jthomas 4:13 PMAsk the Rooney’s if the NFL is only a business and I bet you get a different answer than kroenke would give. It becomes a business because he fails at winning.
by Larry 4:13 PMPerhaps, but it seems like the vast majority of the NFL thinks the same way. It’s all about money, money, and more money. And I think you’ll see this same line of thinking at work if Davis ends up moving the Raiders to LAs Vegas.
by jthomas 4:14 PMThis was the first year since 1994 that I did not watch the draft. I didn’t even care to look. I’m still just pi$$ed off!
by KC Chief fan in STL 4:14 PMNice to hear from you.
by jthomas 4:15 PMI watched the Thurs Night Drafts first 4 picks, then didn’t watch any more of it Thereafter only read your articles online. From a once fervent, impassioned fan, I didn’t care.
by MJ 4:15 PMVery well. Thanks for stopping in.
by jthomas 4:16 PMDoes Josh Forrest back Ogletree in middle or Barron on weak side? And is Ogletree ABSOLUTELY DEFINITELY playing MLB this year?
by Touareg 4:16 PMYes the plan is to play Ogletree in the middle. Not sure on Forrest He was a starting middle linebacker each of his last two seasons at Kentucky. And keep in mind, back ups frequently get some exposure at multiple positions.
by jthomas 4:19 PMAny word on Isaiah Battle, our 5th round pick this year? They paid him from leaving our practice squad last year. Can he make the 53 man roster on merit this year? Darrell Williams was pretty good in preseason and before injury
by Touareg 4:19 PMBefore the injury, I certainly liked Williams better.
by jthomas 4:20 PMI recently read that Wichman may be giving a chance at Center. Nothing against Tim Barnes and love his hustle last year, but just appears limited even though he graded out well at end of year. Got hope for development and maturity and growth for GRob at LT, Havenstein at RT, Saffold at LG & Jamon B at RG.
by Touareg 4:20 PMDon’t be so quick to put Barnes out to pasture. I know on at least one in-house evaluation, he graded out as the team’s most effective offensive lineman in 2015.
by jthomas 4:21 PMHey, JT. appreciate all of your work over the years. So this is totally hypothetical, do not wish it upon anyone, but say Stan K were to just drop deal one day of a massive heart attack from one of his other teams winning. What would that do to the whole best stadium ever built in LA? What sort of wrench would that throw in everything?
by ALE 4:22 PMReally? You had to go there? As Spags would say, I’m not going to go there.
by jthomas 4:23 PMJim, Did you find anything interesting regarding to people that asked for Kroenke to be removed from the Missouri HOF? Did a lot of people email you regarding that?
by formerramtexas 4:23 PMGot more responses than I expected. Now that the draft is behind us, hoping to get to that in the very near future.
by jthomas 4:24 PMHi Jim, is it in your plans to get an interview with ESK at some point? And if so, do you plan to put the screws to him?
by Steve 4:25 PMI think I will see pigs fly outside my window in SoCo first. (So even though my neighbors have a pet pig, I’m not hopeful.)
by jthomas 4:27 PMHi Jim. Great piece on the Rams biggest draft busts. Question – was Jason Smith purely Rams negligence? Or was he projected as a top 3 pick by most teams and draft experts? In other words, would another team have selected him that high or was it like the equivalent of the Big Red selecting Kelly Stouffer? (aka no one expected that)
by Dave 4:27 PMAs I recall, he was generally regarded as one of the top tackles in the draft that year and widely considered to be a top 10 prospect.
by jthomas 4:28 PMHow many area players were drafted/udfa signees? Is there somewhere we can find the names?
by stale peanuts 4:28 PMI tell you what, I will try to update the list of area prospects we published pre-draft with where they ended up in the next few days on-line. But if you work your way through these three stories, you’ll get most of the Mizzou, Illinois, and St. Louis area players drafted or signed as rookie free agents: Mizzou: http://www.stltoday.com . . . .Some StL and Illini: http://www.stltoday.com . . .Some more local and Illini: http://www.stltoday.com
by jthomas 4:35 PMWith the Rams now gone, will you be reporting on the Chiefs/Bears/Colts more?
by What? 4:35 PMExact details still to be determined. But the short answer is: yes.
by jthomas 4:35 PMIf the Chiefs get the TV rights for STL when would that likely be announced?
by Kroenke Sucks 4:37 PMI believe local TV decides which games to carry on a week-by-week basis.
by jthomas 4:37 PMWhat do you think of Shawn Oakman, the huge DE from Baylor. He didn’t get drafted but he had all this buzz about him prior to the College Football Season. Are his off the field issues too much for a team to handle?
by Jeff 4:38 PMIt’s obvious the off-field stuff is hurting him. But despite the early-season hype, it didn’t seem like his pre-draft stock was that high even before the off-field stuff.
by jthomas 4:39 PMWhat is the likelihood the Rams keep Goff, Foles, and Keenum and place Mannion on the practice squad? Salaries don’t appear to be an issue. Are the chances high Mannion would get claimed by another team?
by stratis 4:41 PMInteresting point. I’d have to think someone would take a flyer on Mannion under that scenario.
by jthomas 4:41 PMMay 4, 2016 at 12:28 am #43367znModeratorThis one had a lot of “relive the move” moments. Still it’s interesting that JT will be in California a little bit this summer. Until LA gets up to speed, he still knows the Rams better than any journalist not named Nick Wagoner.
The plan is for me to come out to Irvine for the first weekend of training camp and then cover the first home game of the regular season.
May 4, 2016 at 12:33 am #43370bnwBlockedIt’s the PD sticking a toe in the water to gage what level of Rams interest remains in St. Louis.
The upside to being a Rams fan is heartbreak.
Sprinkles are for winners.
