I have about 6 players at various positions that I would be happy with.

    Cooper
    White
    Scherff
    Collins
    Waynes
    Mariotta

One of those guys will fall and will represent good to great value at 10.

The six players I mentioned will be the one’s ultimately in play because of the value/need balance. I rank our needs as follows:

OL – Clearly the top need.
WR, CB – I rank our needs for these positions about equally. IMO, we could use a #1 WR or CB and both positions have upcoming free agents.
QB – Foles is a free agent and it remains to be seen if he is a franchise QB. I rank this a high need due to the importance of the position.
LB – We need depth and a future replacement for JL but because of the scheme they want to run the need is lessened.
DE – Long’s age, Hayes and Sims’ impending free agency make this a potential need.
DT – They’ll probably extend Brockers so I don’t see a need here until next year.

I think the only true need is OL. What I am attempting to do by ranking the needs is set up the needs portion of the value/needs equation. I think the Rams do BPA at a position of need, not pure BPA. So, assuming we used my needs scale, if we were considering a player ranked really high at DE versus a Cooper or White, we would take the WR because that need is higher right now.

It’s not that I don’t see the possibility of a highly rated (possibly BPA) DL or LB falling, it’s that I feel there is a huge chance of that getting trumped by a higher needy position with a nearly equally rated player.

This is the best and deepest DE class ever so it makes sense to me to wait until later rounds to target this position. DT I wouldn’t get at all since we just signed Fairly for $5 mil. Same for LB. They clearly plan to use a lot of big nickel with the addition of Barron which decreases the need for a 3rd starting LB plus we signed Ayers. So a LB at 10 would be uninspiring.

RB would be a fail because no one is deserving of a pick that high except a supremely talented albeit injured guy.

So I feel it will be between these positions: QB, OT, OG, WR, CB

I think these guys are BPA. I think there is a whole bunch of closely rated red chips players at a number of positions. Cooper is different. He is a blue chip players. imo
