i consider chub more of just a defensive end, but yeah. davenport. and edmunds i think could be best as an edge rusher even though many consider him an inside linebacker.

I’d like to see the Browns rise from the ashes this year. Maybe win the AFC. Maybe play the Dream-Team in the Super Bowl.

    LMU93 sez:

my best available for Day 2

I look at players with overall rankings between 60-85 and I will bet around 7-10 of them are still there at #87. There is a lot of talent the Rams can get at 87 or through a minor trade up. Also factor in the 6-10 inevitable reaches and even more will be there. And maybe one or two of these 85 are still there at 111…

My guess is they will move around quite a bit. Up from 87, back from 111 (probably adding yet another 6th) and then packaging some 6ths up into the 5th. I think in the end they end up with one 3rd, two 4ths, two 5ths and two 6ths.

    The list

17 Harold Landry DE/OLB Boston College
    22 Josh Jackson CB Iowa
    23 Will Hernandez OG UTEP
    25 Derrius Guice RB LSU

At 23. Formerly the Rams pick.

Rams haven’t done too badly in round 6, considering the odds of getting anything there. I blue-bold what I consider to be the hits, and then green bold what I consider to be “maybe, depth guy”)

    2012 6 171 Greg Zuerlein (hit…not just a kicker, pro bowl)
    2014 6 214 Garrett Gilbert
2014 6 188 E.J. Gaines (I count him as a hit, starter last year with Buffalo and signed with Cleveland, is at least good depth)
    2015 6 215 Cody Wichmann (Now a back-up with the Titans)
    2015 6 201 Bud Sasser
2016 6 206 Mike Thomas (valuable special teamer, don’t know if there’s more to him)
2016 6 190 Josh Forrest (injured, signed by Seattle)
2016 6 177 Temarrick Hemingway (hurt last year, still gets a bit of buzz as a possible third TE)

2 hits out of 8 hits is 25%, which beats the average, and if you count hits + possible depth guys, it’s between 3 and 4, which is between 37.5%-50%.

If nothing else round 6 could be good for keeping special teams stocked and good. Normally people would scoff at that, except with the Rams, special teams are a team strength.

And, yes they could trade up too.

Demoff on a topic that interests me. Rams draft process. This portion starts at about 8 mins in. Audio posted here: http://theramshuddle.com/topic/les-snead-sean-mcvay-post-round-1-presser/#post-85427

Who controls the draft room? Is there discussion, debate?

KD: Every place is different. Usually GMs are in control . All the debating and arguing for the most part has gone on for the last 2-3 months and your coaches have had their say and the scouts have had their say and you have your board lined up for who you are going to take, you scenario and gameplan [before draft day]. Even now with no 1st round pick they’ve gone through 5 or 6 mock drafts and asked what would you do if this player is available v. this player. You really have those discussions leading up to the draft and then when you get to the draft you pretty much know your plan. The excitement comes from whether you’re going to trade up for a player or if you’re going to trade down. Usually if you’re 5 picks out you put 5 names on the board and say we’re going to take one of these 5 and you know you’re going to get one. The scary part is when you put 5 names on the board 10 picks out and you hope one of those 5 guys is there. About 4 or 5 picks away you usually bring in the coordinator and the position coach and get one last confirmation, so this is the guy you want and everyone’s on board with this. Usually just re-affirming what has been discussed for months. Usually it’s fairly orderly. Every now and then you get the player who falls or a fun trade on the clock but it’s probably more routine than you would ever imagine.

    Deadpool sez:

    2018 Position Rankings

    Edge:

Good class, great depth, but the value is in the 3rd thru the 6th, 7th rounds. I would certainly wait until then to draft one. The # in the parenthesis is the overall rank of the player in regards to the big board.

Key is the real wildcard here. His off field stuff no one knows the truth about except the teams that checked him out, plus his 4.9 40 at his proday was dubious. But when he was in shape and focused, his 2016 was pretty special.

    (23) Harold Landry – Edge – Boston College – 6′-3″ 252 lbs. – Played DE in college. Will be a stand up OLB in a 34. A speed to power converter that gets to the QB. Can get stronger against the run.

    (32) Arden Key – Edge – LSU – 6′-6″ 238 lbs. – Prototype pass rushing 3-4 edge. Dominated 2016. Injuries and off the field concerns make him next to impossible to rank for a hack like me.

    (47) Lorenzo Carter – Edge – Georgia – 6′-5″ 250 lbs. – Warmed up to him after seeing more. Long and fluid. Just tarting to live up to his potential. Can get bigger and stronger. Can set an edge against the run. More athletic and loose framed then some of the other edge defenders.

    (54) Dorance Armstrong Jr. – Edge – Kansas – 6′-4″ 246 lbs. – Long, lean with a natural bend and a quick first step to help him get the edge. Will need to get stronger and develop more pass rush moves.

    (66) Kemoko Turay- Edge – Rutgers – 6′-5″ 253 lbs. – Didn’t notice him until Senior Bowl. A speed to power edge rusher that makes plays all over. Shoulder injury concerns.

    (67) Uchenna Nwosu – Edge – USC – 6′-2″ 251 lbs. – Pass rush specialist that could grow into a full time edge backer. Smooth athlete needs to get stronger.

    (75) Josh Sweat – Edge – FSU – 6′-5″ 252 lbs. – Size/speed/ athlete that has tons of upside, so there’s some projection with him. Can set an edge, needs to get more consistant.

    (97) Ogbonnia Okoronkwo – Edge - Oklahoma – 6′-2″ 253 lbs. – A tad short, but explosive and makes plays. Takes a variety of paths to the QB but is too stiff to dip and rip to get the edge.

    (105) Jeff Holland – Edge – Auburn – 6′-1″ 249 lbs. – Another tad short edge rusher that is relentless and tough. Can anchor against the run. Good hand fighter. Stiff, with little bend to get the edge.

They might just forfeit the pick because why waste the salary cap space when they already have the Super Bowl wrapped up anyway.

    Joseph Noteboom, OT, TCU

    Scouting Report:

Has a confounding prospect profile that is typical of most of the offensive linemen coming into the NFL lately- shows signs of good technique, balance, hand usage, bend, etc., but is wildly inconsistent. This pattern has much more to do with the offensive systems and the type of coaching they are receiving, as it doesn’t match what is expected of them in the next level. However, he showed well during the Senior Bowl, and if teams decide that circumstance is the reason that his tape is what it is, he could move into middle, even upper rounds. He has a big frame, but needs to add more quality bulk, but his athleticism and technique have shown enough to get the attention of scouts.
