By not scoring that TD when he first had the chance, Gurley forced #Lions to use their final timeout. Had he scored it then rather than now they get the ball back with a timeout and the two-minute warning left.

Rams have won back-to-back divisional titles for the first time since 1979.

    Vincent Bonsignore@VinnyBonsignore
What’s scary(er) about Aaron Donald is that I think he’s also benefiting a little bit from Dante Fowler. Really nice pickup by Les Snead and the #Rams

Here’s the thing about Aaron Donald/MVP: So many of his sacks/big plays/forced turnovers came when the #Rams deperately needed a play to be made.

    Myles Simmons@MylesASimmons
#LARams CB Aqib Talib is not injured, he’s only on a snap count.

    Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond
If Rams win, and Bears lose (they’re down 10 late), I believe the Rams could clinch a first-round bye with a victory next week at Chicago. But I’m not great at math.

    Joe Curley@vcsjoecurley
Two years ago in Detriot, Todd Gurley couldn’t score on the goal line to end the half. Today, he ran along the goal line to milk clock and Lions’ timeouts, then scored two plays later. Things have changed in LA

Aaron Donald 2018 sack count: (16.5)

*Strip sack leads to a Gurley TD

*One of 5 defensive tackles in @nfl history with more than 15 in a season (Keith Millard, John Randle, La’Roi Glover, Warren Sapp)

Brandin Cooks is the first player in NFL history with 1,000 receiving yards in 3 straight seasons with 3 different teams (Saints, Patriots, @RamsNFL).

    Julia Faron@JFaron
NFL sack leader DT Aaron Donald (15.5) registered a sack on Lions QB Matthew Stafford. Donald (54.5) tied Chris Long (54.5) for fifth place for the Rams all-time sack leaders list.

QB Jared Goff’s touchdown pass to WR Robert Woods gives him 60 career touchdowns with the Rams which ranks eighth on the Rams all-time passing touchdown leaders list.

On RB T. Gurley’s 15-yard gain, he tallied his 1,000th career rush. He is the sixth running back in franchise history to reach the 1,000 carry mark.

    Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond
Detroit unsuccessfully tried to get Todd Gurley to score a touchdown.

    Vincent Bonsignore@VinnyBonsignore
It’s just too bad Todd Gurley doesn’t get credit for those 10 yards or so he got cutting across the goal line

Bad games happen (See Brees/Saints) #Rams offense has picked up the defense at various times this year, Today it’s the other way around. Team game. Key is to win.

    Joe Curley@vcsjoecurley
When you’re looking to make an MVP argument for @AaronDonald97, remember that sequence in the the fourth quarter of a one-score game in December that Rams have to have

    Downtown Rams@DowntownRams
    Goff is so off today

    Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond
This is like Rams-Chiefs, in a fun-house mirror.

    Rams: “Here, take this game.”

    Lions: “No, we’re good.”

Yes Vince, but if they hadn’t made the TD, the Lions would have only need a TD to win. But when they score the Td that forces the lions to do 3 things to win. Score, on side kick, and score again. Really hard to do that even with a time out and the 2 minute warning.

Not sure about that Ag. I think you can assume Rams would at least get a FG there. That would have made it 26-16 at that point. Even with a TD and a 2 pointer that’s 26-24.

Your right. Somehow I was thinking the Rams had a 3 point lead when they actually had a 7 point lead. But still, I think scoring the TD was just as good as not scoring. In the end they still scored the TD. Getting the first down was the biggest deal.

When I see @Lions Head Coach Matt Patricia on the sidelines, It reminds me of a math teacher looking at his student with disappointment in their exam results.

    Vincent Bonsignore@VinnyBonsignore
I Spoke to #Rams Aqib Talib he said he came out of the game feeling great

    Lindsey Thiry@LindseyThiry
Todd Gurley, on avoiding the touchdown to run our some clock: “Just trying to get the hell out of here, honestly.”

    Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond
Aqib Talib on Aaron Donald: “Every time he does something, it’s still unbelievable, man. It’s crazy. You see him bust through the line against NFL guards. He makes guys look like high school and college players.”

Rams guard Rodger Saffold, on whether he expected Aaron Donald to make a big play: “Oh yeah, I think it’s expected, especially as the game wears on. Guys get tired. Technique lapses. Eventually they had to stop going two on one. Once you go one on one, you’re not going to win.”

People keep sleeping on the #Rams wins over the #Seahawks and #Chargers. Three wins over really quality teams.

Of the #Rams players I spoke to today, while they would have been hyped no matter how they clinched the division title they were particularly happy to take care of business on their own with a win

Dante Fowler with #Rams in four games: 13 tackles, two sacks, four tackles for losses five QB hits. Previous seven games with Jaguars: 9, 2, 1, 1.

    Ethan Hanson@EthanAHanson
Long story short, Aaron Donald is already a Hall of Famer.

    Eric Dickerson@EricDickerson
Congratulations to my @RamsNFL! Consecutive division titles for the 1st time in 39 years. Very proud of this team!

    Myles Simmons@MylesASimmons
#LARams RB Todd Gurley recorded his sixth game with at least 150 yards from scrimmage this season today. Gurley had 23 carries for 132 yards plus three receptions for 33 yards. His two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career high of 15 rushing TDs in a season.

    D’Marco Farr@DMarcoFarr1
Not to single out just one guy but this season Austin Blythe has played about as well as any RG in the game. Hard to remember he was a backup coming into 2018.

Once again, Gurley stopped short of the end zone, passing up a touchdown and driving fantasy owners into despair. (After all, this week was the final week of the fantasy football regular season.)

One problem though: Gurley probably shoulda just scored. His non-score came with over two minutes remaining in a one-score game. His Rams couldn’t run out the clock—they had to score again to seal the game. Because of Gurley’s short stop, the Rams had to run two more offensive plays, running the risk of a botched snap or fumble that could’ve given the Lions life.

Everything worked out OK: Gurley punched in a touchdown two plays later. The Rams won, and Gurley put up 28.5 fantasy points, probably getting all his fantasy owners into the playoffs. But I’m worried Gurley is going a little bit too far in his attempts to appear unselfish. I appreciate the critical thinking that has led him to stop short, but most of the time scoring a touchdown is the best thing to do.

Refocused, NFL Week 13: Los Angeles Rams 30, Detroit Lions 16

    https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-refocused-nfl-week-13-los-angeles-rams-30-detroit-lions-16

    Los Angeles Rams

Jared Goff had an uncharacteristic bad day against the Lions. The Los Angeles quarterback was off target on multiple occasions, as he barely completed more than 50 percent of his throws. Furthermore, he also put the ball in harm’s way, fumbling once and throwing an interception while he was fortunate not to see a batted pass returned for a touchdown.

With the struggles of Goff, it was up to running back Todd Gurley to carry the Rams’ offense and delivered against Detroit. Gurley was useful both in the running game and the passing game and broke multiple tackles on his way to 165 yards from scrimmage and two rushing touchdowns.

Star interior defensive lineman Aaron Donald had an outstanding game, as he was too much to handle for the Detroit offensive line. Donald recorded two sacks, including one where he forced a fumble on Matthew Stafford. He was tough to move in the running game, as well.

While cornerback Aqib Talib returned from injury, he played just 26 snaps against Detroit. Talib was not tested heavily in his limited playing time, as he allowed just one reception on two targets against the Lions.

    Detroit Lions

Interior defensive lineman Damon Harrison once again showed why Detroit traded for him earlier this season. Harrison, as usual, made multiple plays against the run; however, he also recorded a strip-sack today when he took advantage of Goff climbing too far up in the pocket.

Like Harrison, A’Shawn Robinson also had an outstanding game on the Detroit defensive line. Robinson was one of the key reasons why Gurley had to fight for every yard, as Detroit won the battle in the trenches against the Rams’ offensive line.

Stafford didn’t have his best game on Sunday afternoon. He had a fumble where he did not secure the football as he was sacked by Donald. In addition, while he threw just one interception at the end of the game, he had multiple dropped interceptions, as Troy Hill had a chance to return one of Stafford’s passes for Kenny Golladay for a touchdown.

Detroit’s interior offensive line had a tough day against the Rams’ defensive line. Guards Kenny Wiggins and Frank Ragnow and center Graham Glasgow all struggled to keep the Rams interior defensive linemen in check as they wreaked havoc both as pass-rushers and against the run.

    Keys to the Game

    Los Angeles

Even though the Rams’ offensive line and Goff struggled on Sunday afternoon, Los Angeles was able to overcome this thanks to the work of their defensive line and Gurley.

    Detroit

The Detroit interior offensive line was not up to the task to slow down the Rams’ defensive line, as they made life hard on the Lions running backs and Stafford.
