“Good enough to win the NFC” is a tough thing to predict when we haven’t even seen our one’s on the field of play this season…
Personally, I think the NFC is the tougher division and the Vikings, Eagles, Saints and Falcons are all pretty damn good.
I travel a lot in the Boston area. This time of year last year, all the talk on Sports Radio was, “Can the Patriots go undefeated?” Well, they got beaten in Week 1.

I’m goin g to take these games one week at a time. It’s Raiders week. Go Rams!

going back to the lb corps. besides health. i really do think this lb corps is the key. the rams lost ogletree and quinn. i liked both of them. but they were either flawed or had lost a physical edge.

i think one big key is to what degree littleton and ebukam can replace and perhaps even surpass those two. they’re both young. they both have potential. and a lot of times the difference is not in the obvious superstars but in finding the unknown gems. guys like fletcher. like a billy jenkins. with ogletree and quinn we knew what we were gonna get.

with littleton and ebukam. they’re unknowns. and that can be both good and bad. but at least there’s the potential that they can be as good. maybe even better? that might be stretching it. but if they can be as good. than the acquisitions of peters, talib, and suh should make them better on defense.

and as i said in other posts. the defense will be key this season. i do expect a regression on offense. not a huge one. but significant enough that if the defense isn’t improved. this team will struggle to get into the playoffs.

best case scenario. littleon does an adequate job replacing ogletree. maybe even just a more reliable version. or someone like kiser emerges out of nowhere. ebukam is better than a quinn who was only a shadow of himself. combine that with one of the best secondaries and defensive lines in the league to create a very good defense.

I binged this weekend and watched several games from the 2017 season and started with the losses: Not the condensed version of the game, but the whole enchilada….. I had the game on TV while working on the garden and manning the grill this weekend for 4 meals….

Philly Game (Rams had that game)

Vikings (OMG Kupp choked!)

Then started I the season:

Colts

Redskins

I skipped the Rams at SF game

Dallas game…. (special teams and Zuerline where huge in that game….)

no Judge Judy tonight as I resume my binge with Seattle at LA…

I forgot how good Robert Quinn was last year… I hope that the Rams don’t miss him… he consistently came up with some clutch plays in all games.

Rams open up in Oakland vs David Carr… this won’t be the home opener like last year vs Scott Tolzien.

Both the offense and defense better be ready Monday.

Offense wins games… defense wins championships…. the Rams have both…

I wouldn’t take the “Bust” part of that seriously. Of course they will come back next year and say, “Super Bowl or Bust” again, regardless of how this season ends. It’s not like they are going to trade everybody and start all over from scratch through the draft.
