People don’t understand how rare it is to see what Donald is doing. Sure , Mack is great , but so is Von, bosa Ingram and other edge rushers. What Donald has done through his career is resetting history for the DT position.

Rams may not be rushing to “pay the man” so as not to appear to be rewarding “holdout behavior.” As you said, they’ve got a lot of other impending contracts to negotiate. Don’t want to set a precedent

    It’s not that.

When you factor in Donald does his damage as an interior player compared to Mack’s edge and that Donald is just as good pressuring the QB from his spot on the field compared to an elite player at a position that annually creates most pressure/sacks, edge goes to Donald I believe.

[Cooks v. Watkins.] They were both 4.3ish 40 guys at their combines. Wakins has had some foot issues in #NFL so that could play a role. All I know is, Cooks is a blur.

What’s unclear right now is what the endgame is for Aaron Donald and his camp. It doesn’t make sense for him to hold out past deadline and lose a year of service. Then, he has zero leverage.

Playing for ~$7 million inste3ad of $20+ million will lose him a chunk of change that will be hard to make up. imo

Okay, true, but remember—we don’t really know what the Rams have offered and what Donald will accept. So he could end up paying for 7 M because the Rams didn’t offer enough. That’s possible too.

That is true, but time is not Donald’s friend.

Though he could, after 2019, demand a trade instead of being tagged. The tag numbers for a DT actually are a lowball compared to a fair market 20+ M contract. Under those conditions do the Rams sit on him or a la Dickerson would they be forced to trade him? I think they would have no choice but to trade him.

BUT that’s a worst case scenario that assumes a negative scenario in which the Rams are lowballing him NOW and that he has (from his pov) nothing to sign.

If that happens everybody loses. imo
