FYI on Brandin Cooks and #Rams: He’s from California. His agent is Jared Goff’s agent. Sense is the #Rams have a good shot at re-signing him long term.Regardless of the #Rams new draft status – their first pick is 87th (third round). They are a better team on paper today than they were to end last season.
Couple things on #Rams Brandin Cooks trade: Sean McVay has advocated him for a couple years (he got his wish). Cooks is 24 – essentially same age as Calvin Ridley. And he’s 1 of 2 receivers in NFL with 3 straight 1000-yard and 7 TD seasons. The other is Antonio Brown
#Rams like Cory Littleton (ILB) and Samson Ebukam (OLB) a lot.

“He’s a better player than Sammy Watkins, this is a win now move, no question about & for the LA market, nothing succeeds like success”
– Bill Polian on #Rams acquiring @brandincooksJoe Curley@vcsjoecurley
Cooks will play the 2018 season on a fifth-year option for $8.5 million the Patriots exercised. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent in 2019. So Rams make a similar move to the one they made for Watkins a year ago. @DowntownRams @CVRamsClubAlden Gonzalez@Alden_Gonzalez
No, the Rams don’t have a pick in the first two rounds. Yes, they desperately need linebackers. But they have built a great defensive line, secondary and, now, receiver group. Also: Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, a solid offensive line and an elite special teams. They’ll be fun.Brandin Cooks lined up all over the place for the Patriots, but, as ESPN’s Mike Reiss said, he is best used as an X receiver, which is where Sammy Watkins lined up. Cooks will bring more speed, but Rams paid a heavy price.

Cooks currently is set to play out the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, at approximately $8.5 million, and could be a free agent after this coming season. He’s a native of Stockton.Career yards per reception:
Brandin Cooks 14.1
Odell Beckham Jr. 14.1OBJ has approximately 500 more yards and a wide edge in TDs (38-27) in 3 fewer starts.

If the Rams can’t re-sign Brandin Cooks, it’ll be deja vu of the Sammy Watkins trade, but with a 1st-round pick. That said, they may now seriously be Super Bowl favorites.

Rams brass has long been high on Cooks. He’s a better fit in the Watkins role than Watkins was a year ago. Their pursuit of OBJ is overApril 3, 2018 at 7:51 pm #84853znModeratorESPN Stats & Info@ESPNStatsInfo
Brandin Cooks is one of four players to record at least 3 seasons of 1,000 Rec Yds & 7 TD before his 25th birthday.April 3, 2018 at 7:54 pm #84854nittany ramModeratorESPN's Adam Schefter: Brandin Cooks Was the WR #Rams Were After All Along –He analyses why the Patriots traded Cooks to the Rams for the 23rd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. NFL’s highest-scoring team has now added one of the dozen or so true No. 1 WRs in football. #Rams + @brandincooksApril 3, 2018 at 8:04 pm #84857znModeratorAw man the front office is out here cookin! 👀👨🏾🍳 #Rams

Important Brandin Cooks stat: The Rams had their third WR on the field for an NFL-high 92 percent of pass plays last year. Their #3 WR is a starter and every-down player.Jordan Schultz@Schultz_Report
#Rams wouldn’t have made this trade if they didn’t feel good about ultimately resigning Brandin Cooks. Remember, Cooks is from Cali + is represented by Ryan Tollner of Rep 1 Sports … SAME agent as Jared Goff. Rams have established lots of goodwill b4 Cooks even sets foot in LA.Eric Edholm@Eric_Edholm
quick take on Patriots-Rams trade:NE accumulating assets — have multiple needs (edge & LB speed, pass catchers, Brady’s successor, DB depth). Now have have ability to see how draft develops and adjust accordingly.
Cooks might be upgrade on Watkins. Slot flexibility.

The @RamsNFL needed to make this trade. The offense they run NEEDS a guy with vertical juice, & they didnt have that. Cooks is a good player, but his biggest contribution will be the vertical stress he will put on the D in the PA game for McVay. #LARams @gmfb @nflnetworkMichael David Smith@MichaelDavSmith
I like what the Rams are doing because it’s fun to see a team go for broke and try to win it all right now.But this whole thing could go south quickly. Adding guys in the last years of their contracts and trading away high draft picks is a good way to fall off a cliff in 2019.

yeah. just read that the two have practiced together in the offseason. liking this move a little more. goff already has a good feel for and timing with cooks. there shouldn’t be too much of a chemistry problem like he had with watkins.
#Rams like Cory Littleton (ILB) and Samson Ebukam (OLB) a lot.
and apparently they don’t like reynolds and thomas.
i think brandin is definitely an upgrade over watkins. but they can’t lose him. they need to sign him long-term. but it sounds like they’re going to aggressively pursue that. goff has a good feel for him already. probably has his stamp of approval. this could end up being a good trade.

All their best players outside of Talib and Suh are 26 or under. Goff/Gurley/Donald/Peters/CooksJoe Curley@vcsjoecurley
I know @brandincooks had a good connection with at least one Rams quarterback. He caught 23 of his 24 TD passes at Oregon State from Sean Mannion. Lot of stories from 2013 on their chemistry out there. @CVRamsClub @DowntownRams @seanmannion4 @BeaverFootballJason_OTC@Jason_OTC
Suhs contract is not official with the NFL so #Rams should have the room to execute the trade. Will likely need to restructure a deal or make a trade of/cut someone like Brockers or Barron at some point -
