First a qualifier. “Starter” can be a little murky, since McVay may rotate different offensive packages. For example, as good as Reed is, he ranked 5th last year in terms of offensive snaps among all Washington WRs and TEs.

    They broke down this way:
    Garcon 808
    Crowder 784
    Jackson 707
    Davis 673
    Reed 568

While the Rams may not yet even have 5 guys who could compete for snaps like that, that’s at least the ideal standard they are probably shooting for. So I am going to stretch the meaning of “starter” and say if you are top 5 in offensive snaps in the WR/TE group, it counts. Same with a dedicated nickel on defense.

The other qualifier is that I am counting this as being within 3 years. They don’t have to start (or given my qualifications, “start” ) as rookies.

So given all that, how many potential starters do I see in this draft? This is just a way too soon “informal poll” type vote, but I say:

    Everett, Kupp, Johnson, Reynolds, Ebukam.

I don’t know if a FB even makes my qualified idea of a “starter.” He may be just a pure role player.

I see Smart and Price as role players. Maybe Smart could be rotational depth and Price a sub-packages guy.

That’s really true, I can see 5 starters coming from this draft.

Of course it’s May 2017 so ask me again in January 2018.

I think Johnson and Ebukam are good on Special Teams.
    ,
Kupp will get major time because he can read defenses. I think that was missing last year. The WRs should be where they are expected to be.
    .
Reynolds will be our best deep threat.
    .
Everett will be our biggest mismatch and red zone threat.

BTW if you combine UDFAs and draft picks, in 98, the Rams picked up 8 starters and/or significant contributors

    Wistrom, 1st round
Holcombe, 2nd round, FB in 99
Little, 3rd round, DE in 2001
    Hakim, 4th round, 3rd WR by 99/2000
Williams, 4th round, starting TE in 99 because of injury to Conwell

I am not counting Warner, who was kind of a UDFA though technically not really, more like a low-market FA

    Fletcher, UDFA
    Horne, KR, UDFA
    Jenkins, SS, UDFA

This year sort of has the feel of Vermeil’s early years.
