the rams were able to put up more offensive points on the bears tonight than rodgers or cousins managed earlier this year. heck, only 3 of the 9 teams the bears faced prior to tonight managed to hang more points on them than the rams (raiders, saints, and eagles), guess that’s why they were the 4th ranked defense in offensive points allowed headed into week 11

Jared Goff wasn’t sacked. He was hardly touched. The narrative should focus on McVay and his ability to simplify the gameplan. Game ball? The entire offensive line.

Sunday’s game could have, and perhaps should have, been a disaster for the Rams’ offensive line. Instead a patchwork group had arguably the unit’s best performance of the season and opened some eyes.

Ramsey looked exactly like the lockdown cornerback the Rams paid up to get on Sunday night. He more or less took away Allen Robinson, holding him to just 15 yards on four catches (six targets). Ramsey also showed what makes him an elite defender, breaking up one pass, hitting the tight end on another to jar the pass loose and slamming Robinson on his back with a huge hit on the sideline. He’s completely changed the look of this defense.

Sean McVay says there’s no update on Robert Woods, that he is still handling his personal matter.

McVay also says they anticipate that WR Brandin Cooks will be available for Monday night.

Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips can take a bow. He’s dealt with changing personnel the last few years—including in-season (swapping out cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib for Jalen Ramsey)—and his group has propped up a struggling offense of late to put the team back in contention. L.A. has won three of four since the loss to the Niners, and Phillips’ group has yielded 10, 10, 17 and 7 points in those games. The Ravens, by the way, are next.

    Hill meets challenge

When the Rams traded for All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey on Oct. 16, the team’s other starting cornerback, Troy Hill, readied himself to play in opponents’ crosshairs.

“That’s a lockdown corner,” Hill said of Ramsey, “so you’ve got to expect to get a lot of action on the other side.”

On Sunday night, as Ramsey made his home debut at the Coliseum, Hill enjoyed one of his best performances for the Rams.

The fifth-year cornerback from Oregon picked off Mitch Trubisky for his third career interception late in the first half, setting up the Rams’ first touchdown drive, and added a drive-stopping third down sack of Trubisky in the third quarter.

Hill was also credited with six tackles and three pass breakups.

The Bears averaged just 3.6 yards per play on the night.

Havenstein is doubtful for this week, as of now

    Stu Jackson@StuJRams
Per Pro Football Focus, Rams rookie RT Bobby Evans allowed zero pressures in 21 pass-blocking snaps last night.

As a unit, the Rams offensive line not only allowed zero sacks, but zero QB hits and only two QB hurries as well.

It was also only the second time all season the Bears’ defense failed to record double digit pressures, too.

Have a lot of respect for the Rams organization that we know virtually nothing about what’s going on with Woods. Personal issues should stay personal. Kudos to them for respecting that

Writing about the Rams run game from Sunday night, which looked different than anytime in McVay’s Rams offense. They ran a lead draw with a FB! For 10 yards! Has to be the first time they’ve run that play in 3 years

    Sosa K@QBsMVP
Lead draws at least twice with a FB, I-Form, shotgun runs, and from my count, they only ran OZ 3 times in the game. Everything else was purely man-blocking. Duo’s/combos (a ton), counters (3-4 times roughly), pin&pull (once IIRC).

    Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
Weddle called the Ravens the best team in the NFL. Todd Gurley says Lamar Jackson is the best player, and the next version of Michael Vick. Yeah, the Rams know how tough Monday night will be

Ever wonder what Jalen Ramsey says to other players? He was mic’d up on Sunday and it is glorious. “That would’ve been a pick. Can’t believe he looked this way.” 😂

Seems like the Marcus Peters – Jalen Ramsey cornerback shuffle worked out great for both Ravens & Rams. The Ravens rank 1st, Rams 2nd, in defensive efficiency since those moves went down ahead of Week 7. Prior to that, Ravens were 23rd, Rams were 12th, per @ESPNStatsInfo

Donald has a sack in five consecutive games, which is tied for the longest streak of his career.

Brandin Cooks got the thumbs up. He will play on Monday.

    Adam Caplan@caplannfl
#Rams HC Sean McVay on WR Brandin Cooks (concussion): “He’s excited to be able to play. He’s felt good for a couple weeks, so when he’s feeling good and we’ve gotten the thumbs up from everybody else, that makes us all feel good. He’s going to play and we’re excited about that.”

Big week for Rams scout team QB, who will play the role of Lamar Jackson at practice: “John Wolford’s going to do a great job for us,” Sean McVay said. “We’ll see if he found some extra speed this week, too.”

    Andrew Siciliano@AndrewSiciliano
John Wolford is one of my favorite players in the @NFL. The man who left his job on Wall Street to play for the Jets. The man who dominated the AAF. The man who took a pay cut to play in the NFL. John Wolford is Lamar Jackson.

I just thought you should know that despite being double and triple teamed, Aaron Donald has more QB pressures (40) and more TFL (16) than any other Defensive linemen. His 8 sacks are also more than any other defensive tackle.

    Stephen White@sgw94
Of course everybody wants to double team Aaron Donald on most passing plays, but he’s so good and he moves around so much before *and* after the snap, that its much easier said than done as the Bears found out on Sunday Night Football.

    Mina Kimes@minakimes
We shouldn’t take Aaron Donald (who ranks first in pass rush win rate amongst DTs….by a lot) for granted

Todd Gurley, Los Angeles Rams: This season, Gurley is averaging five touches and 40 scrimmage yards per game fewer than he did in 2018. The thing is, although his touches have decreased, his production is similar. Last week against the Chicago Bears, Gurley had a season-high 25 carries (his previous high was 18 back in Week 7) and was a major reason the Rams won that game. With the Rams currently holding the seventh seed in the NFC playoff picture, it’s time Sean McVay starts to utilize Gurley’s abilities to the fullest. I understand that he’s been banged up over the last year, but Super Bowl windows are only open for so long. The Rams must do everything in their power to get back to the promised land, and it all starts with giving your best player the ball.

    HILL HELPING THE SECONDARY

Since entering the starting lineup, CB Troy Hill has been in asset to the Rams’ secondary in the eyes of PFF.

The scouting service says he’s been targeted 34 times over the Rams’ last six games, allowing just 16 receptions. In other words, opposing receivers are only catching passes from their quarterbacks 47.1 percent of the time.

Against the Bears, opposing receivers caught only three of their seven targets against Hill.
