It has been widely thought that Sam and Westbrooks were the favorites for the 9th DL position. Does this tip the scales?

Does that have anything to do with Jo Lon Dum-Bear?

No. Schiller very likely fits my login name.

“I wouldn’t have taken him,” Dungy told the Tampa Tribune. “Not because I don’t believe Michael Sam should have a chance to play, but I wouldn’t want to deal with all of it. It’s not going to be totally smooth … things will happen.”

I wonder if Dungy would have drafted the first black as the Rams did back in the ’40s. Or if he were in charge of the Dodgers back then if he would have signed Jackie Robinson.

Could that quote be “I wouldn’t have taken him,” Dungy told the Tampa Tribune. “Not because I don’t believe Jackie Robinson should have a chance to play, but I wouldn’t want to deal with all of it. It’s not going to be totally smooth … things will happen.”

If the Rams were in any other division in the NFL the media would be giving them an excellent chance to win the division. In the NFC West most of the media feels it is too much to ask them to beat out both the 49ers and the Seahawks and that doesn’t take in the Cardinals.

I do not think the Rams will finish last in the NFC West. If they could move up to 2nd they might go to the playoffs. If they pull off the biggest surprise since 1999 they could win the division.

Miami-Dade County jail records did not show either man in custody Sunday afternoon. Details about the bonds they posted were not immediately available.

It will probably take two or three days until we really find out what happened. The charges could be dropped. They could be a misdemeanor, or it could even be criminal charges. We really don’t know much at this time. And who started the fight? Lots of questions. Very few answers. So any comments at this time would be speculative and very well could be an overreaction.

For the first time in quite awhile the Rams will be cutting some pretty good football players. A number of their final cuts will be claimed by other teams. This might make it hard to move the players the Rams would like to the practice squad.

I think Wagoner feels he has to produce.

Though…it is a young team, and there are a lot of questions. Jenkins, Johnson, McGee, Joyner, Gaines, Alexander, McCleod, McDonald, Ogletree, Brockers, Donald, Robinson, Jones, Bradford, Quick, Givens, Austin, Bailey, Stacy, Mason, Pead…who did I leave out?

So Wagoner can mine this vein for weeks if he wants. smiley21

You are right. He could go on forever. There are at least 53 such stories. And that doesn’t even count the coaches. Thank heavens training camp is coming up soon. With the first open practice coming the 25th (7 days) there will be some real stories to report. And we will be getting reports from our local board people who will be at the practices.

You can really tell it is a slow period for NFL writers.

How many of Wagoner’s “time for xxxxx to produce” pieces have we had now?

I agree with all of that except I have Sam first and Westbrooks second. There were times Westbrooks dominated lesser competition and times he looked lost to me. Sam, while not having combine numbers, always seemed like a football player with a high motor and high football IQ to me. I’d love to see Sam make the squad and Westbrooks survive on the PS, but this league won’t let a Waufle coached rook sit for free on some PS…

I made some assumptions when I made my statement. First assumption was that Westbrooks, Sam, Conrath, and possibility Brown would be good enough to be claimed by another team if they were released — thus could not be put on the Ram’s PS. The second was my order. And the third assumption was that the Rams would value these players enough so that they would be willing to keep two of them on the 53 man roster rather than to loose them when they were cut.

During the preseason I think that any of the four (Westbrooks, Sam, Conrath, Brown) could be the 9th and 10th DL on the Rams. It is also possible that only one of the four will be considered valuable enough to keep on the roster of 53. So stay tuned. We have six weeks to find out.

I think you have it just about right. Assuming no trade (maybe someone like Sims or Carrington) which I consider unlikely or an injury the first 8 seem to be pretty much locks. I would rank the next five, right now with no training camp and no preseason games, as Westbrooks, Sam, Conrath, Brown, and Harlan. The first four at least will be on somebody’s roster this year. I look for the Rams to keep 10 on their 53 man roster and none on the practice squad. That would include Westbrooks and Sam if these two show up in preseason as I think they might.

Rok Watkins was given every chance by Fisher with the Rams. Then he got another chance with the Chiefs. He has talent. But a talent isn’t enough. Too bad.

You have the same address as before. When the Buzz went offline I expected As I am laid up with kidney stone problems I bounced over to the old site to some of the deniers a hard time. That site also was screwy. I waited about an hour and bounced back to the old site and found you.
