Yep…I’ll be watching the superbowl and actually I’m kinda interested in it. I think they have the 2 best teams going at it this year and it should be an entertaining view.
Also, for some reason, I still like to see what the commercials are like. IDK why, I just always like watching them…but not the “puppy bowl” that has to be the worst idea ever.
January 25, 2017 at 9:46 am in reply to: ESPN: It might be time for the Rams to splurge on a #1 receiver #64343sanbaggerParticipantJordan Reed saw a noticeable increase in production when SM started calling the plays. in Washington…his production rate pre-McVay was very similar to LK’s production..soooo maybe he can jump start LK.
Also…I was thinking about the Rams receivers and TE’s and thinking about the drop rate they had and I had a thought…earlier in the year when the Rams ran off their winning streak the guys were catching the ball, flash forward to the latter part of the year they were dropping the ball.
I kind of related this to baseball…the team needs the pitcher to be in a good rhythm and they will play good defense behind him…if he’s out of synch and slow to deliver the pitch the defenders can get sloppy…perhaps that happened to the receivers for the Rams, with no rhythm they got sloppy.
If they decide to keep him…OK.
January 24, 2017 at 10:24 pm in reply to: ESPN: It might be time for the Rams to splurge on a #1 receiver #64317sanbaggerParticipantHigbee needs to get stronger and learn better technique blocking…he was just manhandled at the line last year. Hemingway???? I don’t think I saw him in a game last year.
And they can always keep those 3 and add another.
IMO people are down on Kendricks from 2016, but, he had value in previous years.
His value was as the #2 TE…and he barely held up that end of the bargain.
His receiving skills always were subpar but showed promise that never materialized. He was supposed to be the blocking TE, but after watching him fairly closely this year I realized he’s just not that good as a blocker either…although he was better than Higbee by a wide margin. Not sure how Hemmingway is as a blocker.
I just don’t have confidence LK can make that critical catch when called upon.
My thoughts of LK remind me of a great tune…name this song
On a long and lonesome highway
East of Omaha
You can listen to the engine
Moanin out his one note song
You can think about the woman
Or the girl you knew the night beforeJanuary 24, 2017 at 9:14 pm in reply to: ESPN: It might be time for the Rams to splurge on a #1 receiver #64308sanbaggerParticipantIf they get another TE in FA, what happens to Kendricks? I have no problem with them letting him walk. He is gonna collect a bonus 3/11 so they’ll have to make a decision soon.
Kendricks bonus is $0.5 million. That is almost just an insurance policy. I think, keep him on the roster and if you draft a TE, Kendricks can just compete or be there if there is an injury. imo
.
Of course, they might not like him as a player or they might want to use his cap dollars somewhere else. His salary is 4.25 mil so .5 mil is a hefty percentage and that adds to the cap…I think if they plan on adding a TE either via FA or draft then Lance is history.
If he’s there after 3/11 then I think he’s back…of course I could be, and probably am, wrong.

January 24, 2017 at 7:49 pm in reply to: ESPN: It might be time for the Rams to splurge on a #1 receiver #64304sanbaggerParticipantI assume, McVay will bring a WR from Washington and draft some in the later rounds.
yeah i wouldn’t draft one. between tavon and a veteran wr signing (i prefer experience over youth especially with such a young qb), i don’t think it’s wise to draft a wr high.
i personally think they should draft a tight end to develop. a premier tight end would do more for this offense i think. of course that could just be my personal bias talking.
Now that H and H have a year under their belt, I think they are gonna start to pay dividends..for some reason I just have a feeling about Hemingway.

sanbaggerParticipantIf that’s the case…why the delay? It seemed like a no brainer they were waiting for a guy from one of the teams still playing.
This just seems a little strange to me.
i don’t know. Has any other team hired all its coaches? And, therefore, is this a delay? Or just the normal way things play out?
.
I don’t think I’m gettin antsy…I just kind of figured if they were serious about Trestman we would have heard something by now. Who knows? maybe they have been talking and it just hasn’t leaked out.

January 22, 2017 at 11:58 am in reply to: LA Rams Film Room: What To Expect From New HC Sean McVay On Offense #64090sanbaggerParticipantThey do attack the midranges though, in ways the Rams just haven’t the last few years. BUT the Rams threw deep more than Cousins/Washington did
I actually think that fits Goff better. I like Goff’s medium / deep medium, passes better than I like his bombs. I just think he has a better feel for them and maybe feels a little more comfortable with those tosses…not sure, just a guess on my side.
January 17, 2017 at 5:36 pm in reply to: LA Rams To Let CB Trumaine Johnson, WR Kenny Britt Leave In FA, Sign WR DeSean J #63782sanbaggerParticipantSpruce couldn’t stay healthy enough to dress for a single game. His entire rep is based on part of one preseason game.
Well…that and his college accolades.
I get what you’re sayin, but this guy has a pedigree and showed hands when he was healthy. I have hopes for this guy.
January 17, 2017 at 3:41 pm in reply to: LA Rams To Let CB Trumaine Johnson, WR Kenny Britt Leave In FA, Sign WR DeSean J #63765sanbaggerParticipantYea…I don’t know where this “Fisher guys” comes from and if the management is just trying to get rid of anything Fisher related, it’s kinda petty really.
I’m OK with letting Britt walk and adding DJack, but I really want TruJo back…that guy can play and we haven’t had the healthiest of CB’s.
If they Britt walk, do they resign Quick? All of the talk and absolutely nothing on Quick…I would consider him a Fisher guy as well.
Edit to add…maybe Quick is a Snead guy?????

sanbaggerParticipanti’d be intrigued if it was marshall faulk…
Good thinkin…Marshall was involved in giving McVay a seal of approval during the courting process, so you may be on to something.
I would not oppose MF…the guy knows football and you gotta love his fire to win.
sanbaggerParticipantWHO THE HE’LL IS THIS JARED COOK GUY? WTF!
Meh…he dropped a couple, he should have caught, right before he caught “The pass”.
Even on the “the pass” he was jogging out to his, presumably cause it wasn’t designed to go to him. He just jogged himself in to position and AR scrambled long enough to give him a chance to be a hero.
He’s still gonna drop more passes than he should.
Good game though and look forward to GB vs ATL. Hopefully Pitt vs KC is just as fun.
sanbaggerParticipantjared cook looks… pretty good.
grumble…
Did you see the pass that hit him in the face mask? He’s the same.
sanbaggerParticipantI’m pullin for GB as well…just don’t like Dallas and I want to see the game next week GB vs ATL
sanbaggerParticipantGreen Bay sure has quieted down the fans in big D.
If GB wins and plays ATL next week, I’m takin the over. The score should remind us of a basketball game.
sanbaggerParticipantJust saw Rams are gonna get Bill Johnson OL line coach from New Orleans
sanbaggerParticipantCan’t see them letting Tru walk..Britt I can see.
sanbaggerParticipantMaybe Stan didn’t want to pay for all the change orders to the new stadium…enlarging the doorways so the big headed Shanahans could get through them.
sanbaggerParticipantLot of ST penalties on both teams…at least the Rams have Fassel still in the fold.
sanbaggerParticipantI just can’t root for the Hawks…Hope the Falcons and Shanahan put it to them.
sanbaggerParticipanti give snead an incomplete. it’s hard to say how much input he exactly had. we know he didn’t have final say in the previous arrangement.
my hope is that he gets final say from now on and starts to really shine. gets at least one really outstanding draft in and demoff remains on the periphery.
Yep..I kinda see it the same way.
I think Snead is gonna be just fine, and I like the idea of the GM has final say with regards to draft picks and as Zx said the coach has final say on roster.
January 14, 2017 at 3:36 pm in reply to: speculation conversation…what if they switched to a 3/4 #63568sanbaggerParticipantLDE – Easley/Westbrooks/Longacre/Fox?
NT – Brockers/CamThomas
RDE – Donald/Easley?
SOLB – Forrest/Longacre/Fox?
SILB – Tree/Hager
WILB – Barron/MoWilliams
WOLB – Quinn
SS – MoWilliams(I assume TJ leaves)
FS – Joyner/DavisI like Quin at RDE…he is the rush DE and can stunt all day and doesn’t have the responsibility of setting the edge. MTL he is the WOL but he could be interchangeable here.
I also like the idea of Tree moving to the WIL (MO) then he is free to run and tackle circa 2015 and lead the team in tackles again.
That leaves Barron as odd man out…Cleveland? We’ll give you Barron and we’ll sign your UFA Collins to man the MIKE
January 14, 2017 at 3:02 pm in reply to: Rams winning the battle for hearts and minds with the Chargers #63565sanbaggerParticipantWell thats one reason why i hate this whole La Charger thing. There shouldnt even BE a battle for hearts and minds.
The Chargers should have the hearts and minds in San Diego
and the Rams should have the hearts and minds in LA.Thats how God intended it.
w
vI’m not sure what the big guys intentions are, he’s kinda mysterious…but I will say I feel for those folks in San Diego and agree the Bolts should have stayed south.
sanbaggerParticipantMy view is this.
Quite often the OL coaches are also the run game coordinators (Hanifan had that role with Martz).
So he is looking for a coordinator who has input into the running game.
This makes sense. I thought kinda the same thing when I heard Lynns name mentioned then when he took the job with San Diego for some reason I didn’t think about it again.
sanbaggerParticipantNorv Turner is standing on a corner with a will work for cheap sign
I don’t see that happening. Turner is a deep old school Coryell guy. McVay is a card-carrying Gruden back to Walsh WCO guy. One or the other of them would have to learn a completely new system terminology. Turner wouldn’t take a job where he had to do that and if McVay did it it would set him back at least a year in terms of knowledge of his own team’s offense.
MTL you’re right. If McVay is planning on running his system and he’s gonna call the plays he really only needs an assistant and not a full fledged OC in the mold of a Turner.
If he is gonna do it all as a first time HC, I worry he’s gonna be stretched too thin. Part of being a leader is learning to delegate and trusting the guys that work for you.
I just thought He and Norv could put their systems together and create their own hybrid O.
sanbaggerParticipanti’m still wondering about the run game. that’s what attracted me to shanahan. hopefully he hires an offensive coordinator who is strong in the running game.
I agree…with the Shanahan crew I felt confident the running game would get a booster shot…while it appears McVey can get pass happy.
I mentioned in the other thread…Norv Turner is standing on a corner with a will work for cheap sign…and he likes balance to his O. Mix his and McVays philosophies and they might be on to something.
sanbaggerParticipantNorv Turner is still lookin for work. Not sure his type of O would mesh with McVays, but I’m confident they could put their heads together and work a system out.
I also like that Norv is focused on balance in the O while I think McVay may be more of a pass oriented type of O guy. This team is gonna need Gurley as they transition to the new O and beyond IMO.
sanbaggerParticipantI’m interested in who the OC will be. Bill Callahan?
I think the Redskins could block that if they choose.
January 13, 2017 at 3:15 pm in reply to: McVay helped Desean Jackson and Pierre Garçon more than Cousins #63439sanbaggerParticipantWhose to say TA couldn’t be his Deshaun? I think TA is gonna get his shot now, the question is gonna be his hands…is he gonna catch enough to keep him in that position? I think yes.
sanbaggerParticipantWord is…Lynn is looking like a top candidate to take the HC gig in San Diego.
Sorry Mods…put this in the McVay thread but then thought this was more appropriate.
