The Rams “D” descends upon Drew Stanton like the Harpies treated King Phineus.
And Gagatron, the spectre in Mr. Frankes nightmares, redeems himself with a 65 yard game winner.
NERamParticipantMan, do I love those old blue and whites!
They is special, ain’t they?
NERamParticipantSam Bradford got hurt.
The defense woke up quite late.
Rams now playing well.NERamParticipantSeems like there’s a decent chance of “The Streak” continuing.
Exciting times.

rotoworld — 7 years, 18.57 million, Nine million guaranteed
That averages about 3M per fake punt. Not a bad gig.
December 4, 2014 at 10:41 am in reply to: controversy: a few fans dropping the Rams because of the WRs's Ferguson gesture #12984NERamParticipantFor some reason i just thought of Jackie Robinson.
I bet a lot of fans quit on the Dodgers when
he took the field. In the end though,
things worked outw
vSooo, if I understand you correctly, you are suggesting that the Rams give up their maddening attempts at playing good, consistent football, and switch to baseball?
Not a bad idea, but the Cardinals might get a bit testy.
December 4, 2014 at 10:17 am in reply to: controversy: a few fans dropping the Rams because of the WRs's Ferguson gesture #12979NERamParticipantWell, the Pats were able to do just fine
even with all that Hernandez stuff goin on
around them, so, i would think a well-coached team
of grown men, can handle some ‘distractions.’
But we’ll see.I know Washington is gonna come out with intensity,
cause their coach basically called them out
on that recently.w
vI did think of the Hernandez issue, and also Gronks party time indescretions a year or so ago.
Both of those incidents did not come across as an indictment against the team as a whole; rather they were singular acts, by single individuals who were not in uniform, and not on National TV. Even though they were associated with the team, the team was not necessarily associated with their actions.
I guess the point I am trying to make is that I don’t recall seeing any Pats fans saying they were giving up on the team, or any Boston sports bars saying that they were now going to feature Giants games during happy hour instead of Pats games, like what happened in St Louis.
Right or wrong, what the Rams players did coming out of the tunnel has created more negative response against the team than the other 2 Pats incidents.
Thats all.
December 4, 2014 at 8:52 am in reply to: controversy: a few fans dropping the Rams because of the WRs's Ferguson gesture #12970NERamParticipantThe more I see issues like this being sliced, diced and pureed by the media and talking heads, the more I understand “Vanilla Bill” and his control of the Patriots and media interaction.
At a time when the Rams seem to be gelling on both sides of the ball, and maybe, just maybe heading for a meaningful game in late December, I sure hate seeing any kind of distraction that Fisher and the players have to deal with.
This is not meant as a political statement, BTW. Just an opinion regarding the effect on a team when a player, or players, make comments that serve as fodder for the reporters.
Perhaps Mr. Bills tight rein had some merit; If you (the players) don’t say it, I ain’t gotta contend with it.
NERamParticipant3. Billy Waddy against the Cowboys
2. Flipper Anderson against the Giants
1. Isaac Bruce against the Titans.
I don’t care about acrobatics, or all this nancy boy spectacle stuff.
Those are the three Best Catches I ever saw.
3 great memories, certainly. Nice job of capitalizing on WV’s decision to not qualify “best”. 😉
NERamParticipantMy view is that until Tavon becomes a good route-runner, there’s only so much you can do with him.
I have always wondered why the Rams could not, or would not, use Tavon in a similar fashion that the Patriots used to use Welker on those quick slants. I don’t know how many 3rd downs I watched over the years that were a result of Brady to Welker on a short 5 yard burst, and then a cut over the middle.
Maybe I’m oversimplifying it, but those routes never looked too complex to me.
NERamParticipantI’m going to move this to the post-game thread. It will have a good home and we will take very good care of it.
As you will, my good man. I am having a piece of the obligatory Victory Pie right now; nothing will bother me… 😉
NERamParticipantHoly Annihilation, Batman
Missed watching the game, checked score on my Android. Screen read 35-0, and for a second, I thought maybe I had dropped the dumb phone, or maybe gotten it wet. Surely, the screen had somehow misaligned the score. It had to be 35-0 Raiders, didn’t it?
Wow. Just wow. What the heck happened? Was there a Blue Moon, with Saturn and Uranus aligning in a double negative vector nebula, on an Eastern Horizon?
These guys thrill me, and then rip my heart out, pretty consistently this year.
NERamParticipant”It’s funny,” says Everett, ”but on the final play before the
winning field goal, Aaron Cox and Flipper are running the exact
same pattern. I throw to Flipper, he catches. Yet when I looked back
at film of that game, I see that Aaron was 10 steps ahead of his man
and Flipper was double-covered. Sometimes you feel like you’re
throwing a football through the tire of a Hyundai, but that day, with
Flipper, it felt like throwing a ball through the tire of a John
Deere tractor.”About sums up 2014 Rams…
NERamParticipantHave always loved eyewitness accounts from the battlefield. Especially after a “W”.
Thanks.
NERamParticipantI am made happy by your delusional sense of optimism.
Tonight, I will join you and believe we will win!
NERamParticipantSo Snead noted that Belichex
and others have proposed that
Coaches should be allowed to challenge
penalties. (the Jared Cook call, the Eugene Sims call)It wouldnt add more challenges,
it would just allow coaches to risk
a challenge on a penalty call.Snead was for the change, and said
“I understand the purists and traditionalists
view, but lets get it right…”I think I agree with Snead.
Opinions?

vI like it.
Can we mebbe go retroactive???
NERamParticipantMackeyser wrote:
Based on the last few weeks of terribly suspicious refereeing… I’ve been talking to a friend about how the “narrative” in the NFL seems to be following a script right out of the WWE and guided almost ham-handedly by the Refs.Witness the Denver-Jets game. That game should have been as lopsided as the Baltimore-Tampa game, but the Refs refused to allow that. If the Jets hadn’t been so damned inept, they would have easily taken that game because the Refs did everything in their power to hand it to them. As someone who’s watched football my entire adult life, there’s not such a fine line between even “home cooking” type calls and the egregious non-calls and obvious phantom calls that are plaguing the game today.
And I’ll reiterate what I said earlier… when the replacement Refs were there, they made bad mistakes, but they didn’t do what’s being done now… and ya know? We saw teams win that normally don’t win. We saw teams NOT get any benefit of the doubt. We didn’t see many of these weird disparate games where one team had 11 penalties for a gazillion yards and the other team had 1 penalty for 5 yards. Now, we see several games like that EACH WEEK, it affects the games dramatically AND they seem to follow some narrative.
Now, I get that all of that is probably some “Beautiful Mind” stuff of seeing patterns that aren’t there. Okay, fine. However, I just really believe that something’s going on. People refused to believe anything was happening in the NBA until they found that Refs were fixing games. I’m just saying that it’s a possibility and the (to my mind) suspect refereeing only lends itself to that narrative.
So, what’s my point?
Well, based on all that, I talked with my friend a few weeks ago. Started with the 9er/Eagles game. I told him that there was NO WAY the NFL would allow them to go 0-2 in that new stadium. After watching the refs ensure that the Eagles couldn’t do anything o offense, the 9ers STILL almost lost that game… and that was with the Refs basically handing them the game.
With the Cards at 4-1 and Seattle at 3-2, I just can’t see the NFL allowing the 9ers, a team they still see as being one of the elite teams to fall to 3-3. If the 9ers are going to miss the playoffs, it won’t be because of the Rams…
I think the Rams will put up a good fight, but either it’ll be a blowout or the 9ers will play like total shyte and get every call in order to get the victory.
Either way, I don’t think we stand much of a chance of actually winning. I just can’t see the NFL ALLOWING the Rams to win.
That’s my cynical take. I’ll take off my cynical hat now. I can’t wear it for too long. It’s like the One Ring…
You hit the nail on the head because that call against Cook was bogus.
Yup. Game, momentum definitely turned right there. Although, a good team has to be able to overcome bad calls. This one can’t.

NERamParticipantIt was mentioned several weeks ago, (by ZN, I think) that Fisher eventually does make changes necessary. Although, and this is probably where his flaw is, is that the changes don’t seem to come early enough. Too often, the Rams find themselves several games back in the standings by the time the changes are made. By midseason, the team appears to gel, they play better, and finish looking a lot better then they appeared early on. If only the changes could have been recognized and implemented sooner…
I am not opposed to letting Ray Ray go, but I do wonder if it seems a bit too “late”. Penalties and stupid play have been plaguing this team for several years now. I think that if they were serious about correcting this stuff, it should’ve been emphasized and acted upon a lot sooner, not waiting until the fifth week of the season.
I hear what you’re saying about Fisher, and the fact that he is failing. Fail(ING), as opposed to a Fail(URE). Ihave never believed that a good coach suddenly turns into a bad one.Fisher is a good coach and knows how to build a team, but it looks as though he is a bit too slow in making changes. As in the case of letting Ray Ray go now, instead of acting sooner.
NERamParticipantAgamemnon wrote:I don’t mind cutting Armstrong. I do think it is a failure that his situation got to the point that it did.
Indeed.
Finally, a firm move to send the message that discipline is important. Finally. And almost certainly too late.
The move is a good thing. The lateness of the move after last year and half of this one is damning of a coaching staff only reluctantly and inadequately dealing with the team’s problems.
Somewhere in the middle of being a Players Coach or a Disciplinarian ala Coughlin, is the perfect mix of good control and team harmony. Maybe too fine a line for some coaches… ??
September 30, 2014 at 4:34 pm in reply to: Tick bite sent Rams' Wells to intensive care unit in hospital/PD #8732NERamParticipantWells could never survive in New England with all of our tick-borne diseases…Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis, Anaplasmosis and of course, the grand daddy of them all…Lyme Disease. A disease which I and about half the people of Vermont proudly suffer with. You won’t hear us complain about it though. And we certainly won’t be checking ourselves into any hospitals like some overpaid human turnstile.
Since the beginning of time it has been known that the best insight into a man’s character can be gained through his reaction to a tick bite. So now I think we know all we need to know about the type of person this…this Wells person is.
Yeah, but, is your urine dark brown? What about that???

NERamParticipantGoing out on a limb, here, and guessing that 12 will be the pie- winning number. And that includes the posters who posted that they were not going to post a response. And with that, the polls should close.
NERamParticipantIt’s a Saturday (traditionally slow), but not just that, it’s the Saturday of a bye week after a crushing loss.
So–here’s the poll question.
How many posters will respond to this thread?
Winner gets the pie or cake of their choice.

Well, now, its actually Sunday, and not Saturday. Does this reply get counted???
