ParticipantNot so sure I agree. Coming from behind against SF in the NFC game, in the 4th quarter Stafford went 14 of 17 for 121 yds. for 3 scores including a TD. They scored on all 3 4th quarter possessions. That’s against the NFL’s 3rd ranked defense that year.
Thank goodness the SF safety J Tart dropped a sure pick in the 4th qtr of the NFC Championship.
Dec 2021 vs Vikes. 46 passer rating with 3 picks…. no pick 6’s that day, but very close as the 2nd int was returned to the 2 yard line that resulted in a Vikes TD.
1 week later in Baltimore, 2 ints and a fumble.
BTW, both those games were great road wins in spite of the elite play of #9.
I like Stafford, but OBJ and the defense was a big part of the SB run.
joemad
ParticipantStafford needs someone like OBJ in addition to Kupp.
The Rams won huge games down the stretch in Dec of the Super Bowl run (in Minnesota and in Baltimore) in spite of Stafford’s poor play.
It was OBJ and the defense, certainly not elite play from Stafford during that stretch.

Participantthe first question I asked my ChatGPT app was …. “how many games will the Los Angeles Rams win in 2023?
it generated reasons why it could not provide me with a prediction. “it’s best to follow the latest updates and predictions from sports analysts for the most accurate information”….
I think I need to feed my CHATGPT with some Jack P Miller data….

Participantdamn Zooey, you’re competing with Cargil, we’re gonna have to start calling you Oliver Douglass….. that’s a huge garden… only thing missing is a cannabis section… very cool that you and your wife have an on-going cycle of heirlooms from seed.
this season I have:
5 tomato varieties, 2 of these are heirlooms from seed. (granny green and something else)
7 bell pepper varieties
3 hot pepper varieties (no habaneros)
2 zucchinis
we’re always seeding some Booker T and the MGs , (Green Onions) to have throughout the summer.
Herbs; Been propagating rosemary, basil, and always seeding Italian parsley to have year-round.
Billy: we have hard clay soil in the Santa Clara valley, which is great for fruit trees, but it needs amendments to support vegetable gardens. Every couple of years I get 1/2 cubic yard of a veridis soil mix from the local landscape supply center.
I also have a mulch pile in the same spot for the past 18 years to help amend the soil.
Speaking of fruit trees, we got plums, nectarines (which i cloned 2 of them) lime, lemon, valencia oranges, which is great for juice.
Happy growing!
joemad
ParticipantZooey, what are you growing in the garden while listening to the radio?
Thanks goodness for the rains this past year…. I haven’t grown any veggies the past two seasons…. this year i have a nice plot growing.
BTW: Giants in LA this weekend.

Participantjimi,……. i hope that you still have time for trout fishing……

ParticipantCash / cap moves… it’s been a great 5 year run.. this management / coaching approach isn’t going to win the division every year, but can contend for a playoff spot, once in the playoffs anything can happen…
joemad
Participantbetter to part with an aging player a year sooner than a year later.
Bobby Wagner = Clay Matthews
I really liked both of these players with the Rams, but LBs >30 are not very effective for that kind of money.
always remember his Mike Curtis tackle on the trespassing “JOEFAN” vs the 49ers at Levi.
Like ZN stated $5M
Good Luck

ParticipantBilly T, i think you expand the rosters…
regarding the back up play, specifically at QB, e.g., Josh Johnson, Perkins, John Wolford etc…. the level of play from these guys just considerably tails off.
If i was Kapernick’s agent, or Bradford’s agent, Newton, Henne, Fitzpatick et al. or any seasoned QB in their 30’s, I’d campaign to get better QB depth signed to rosters.

ParticipantNiner fans are pissed that Shanny didn’t review the 4th and 3 catch that set up the first Eagles TD on the opening drive…… Some niner fans feel that perhaps Purdy wouldn’t have been hurt had that play been reviewed… but the Eagles knocked out 2 QBs yesterday… Purdy’s replacement was also knocked out of the game with a concussion….
In the AFC game, with less than 1 min to play, I was prepped for OT… it’s a shame that last Chiefs drive ended that way and sent the Bengals packing.
Playoff games always seem to be wild in KC.. .one of the 1st TV playoff games that I remember as a kid was the Dolphins / KC OT game on Christmas Day. Garo’s game winning kick.

ParticipantURL = Sean McVay tells Rams he’s staying as coach, sources say (espn.com)
LOS ANGELES — Sean McVay has informed members of the Los Angeles Rams organization that he will remain the team’s head coach, sources told ESPN’s Dianna Russini on Friday.
The decision comes days after McVay said in his end-of-season news conference that he would be taking the “appropriate time” to make a decision on his future to figure out “the best way to continue to move forward in the right way to be the best coach that you can possibly be.”
The Rams are coming off a 5-12 season, McVay’s worst losing campaign since he was hired in Los Angeles in 2017, as they dealt with a slew of injuries, including to starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receiver Cooper Kupp and defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
During the 2022 offseason, McVay signed a contract extension that runs through the 2026 season, matching the length of the deal signed by general manager Les Snead.
This isn’t the first time a possible McVay retirement has come up. In the week leading up to Super Bowl LVI last February, McVay answered a question by saying he “won’t make it” if he is coaching until he is 60 and talked about the things he wants to pursue outside of football.
“I know I love football and I’m so invested in this thing and I’m in the moment right now,” McVay said at the time. “But at some point too, if you said, ‘What do you want to be able to do?’ I want to be able to have a family, and I want to be able to spend time with them.”
After the Rams’ Super Bowl victory, McVay was asked whether he would return to Los Angeles in 2022. He responded, “We’ll see.” But less than two weeks after the Super Bowl, McVay told ESPN that he would not be pursuing any television opportunities and would return to coach the Rams.
McVay, who was the youngest head coach in modern NFL history when he was hired by the Rams in 2017 just before his 31st birthday, has led Los Angeles to a 67-41 record in six seasons, including playoffs. His Rams team have won three NFC West titles, two NFC championships and one Super Bowl.
After this season, McVay called his job a “beautiful challenge,” saying, “I wouldn’t change any part of this.”
“The ultimate thing is you want to make … sure that this joy, this zest, this ability to be able to do the things at the level that you know you’re capable of, how do you not let the challenges and the grind and the competitor in you … how do you not let that change the dynamic of who you want to be as a leader in those types of things? And that’s kind of where I’m at.”
joemad
ParticipantYes, bogus running into the kicker call …. but Baker just missed on a few key throws..
I thought the Rams had this one…..

Russel Wilson threw the ball way in the fuck over there!

ParticipantColin Cowherd@ColinCowherdChargers are the Cowboys of the AFC. Some really special players but don’t feel quite buttoned up enough to be a special team for three straight weeks and get to a Super Bowl.I agree… Chargers look good but tough to read… i think the Rams will outright win next Sunday.
heading into last year’s playoffs.. both the Bengals and Rams were the long shots to win the playoff bracket……. they both won their conferences. Just like last year… The team that peaks in Dec and Jan will win.
joemad
ParticipantDenver’s defense is very good… but the Rams easily moved up and down the field on their asses…
Denver’s offense stinks.
Rams dominated today, that was great to see.
I think the Rams will kick the Chargers back to San Diego next week
joemad
Participantthat’s great to hear ZN.
Hoping for a speedy recovery.
joemad
Participantget well soon… let’s hope that it’s not serious…
joemad
Participantwe’ve seen it dozens of times… the fans in the stands with no shirt on in 15 degree weather. I don’t understand how and why they do it…. even McVay wasn’t wearing a beanie…
It looked very cold out there.
Rams were outscored and out gained by GB 2:1……. same with the penalty tally.. 8 flags for the Rams, 4 for GB. and 1st downs 13 for LA, 27 for GB.
McVay is a combined 4-12 against his old assistants from Wash DC.
0-3 vs Matt LaFleur
4-9 vs Shanahan
McVay still hasn’t figured these guys out on a consistent basis …after 5 years i’m not sure that he ever will.

Participanti really don’t remember much of Baker Mayfield in the NFL… never really followed him…
i do remember the game when he took the Rams down to the wire when Goff and the Rams faced the Browns in Cleveland a few seasons back… .Baker didn’t look bad at all.
joemad
Participantyeah, McDaniels got out coached.
Fuck him and that stupid visor
Baker Mayfield… impressive.. and no delay of game penalties

ParticipantThey needed to sign someone that has the ability to throw a 40 yard pass…
are you folks surprised that it took McVay and the coaching staff this long to realize that Wolford can’t throw a deep pass ?
the Rams had a very decent game plan vs Seattle last week, their QB just couldn’t execute and missed some wide open throws…

Participantcorrect about the Lions….
They should be at least 8-4, maybe 9-3
Only the Eagles have scored more points than Detroit in the NFC.
If the season ended today, Detroit gets pick #4 and pick #62 from the Rams in next year’s draft.
Do you think Stafford could’ve beat New England in the 2019 Super Bowl without Kupp, Gurley?
I do think Goff could’ve won last year, with Kupp, OBJ, et al.
Rams have lost 6 straight. 8 of their last 9.
Loss in Tampa really killed the season… Rams just needed to move the chains once in the 4th qtr to seal a win. Huge turning point in the season….
joemad
Participantfuck
Yes, good game by Wagner, Powell
Wolford doesn’t have an NFL arm
too bad the defense couldn’t snuff that Seattle game winning drive….
