also. i think watkins is almost a forgotten man here. does he take off in the second half? i’m really rooting for him.

maybe he won’t be a red zone threat. but he could make it easier for the rams to get to the red zone.

that just really sucks. i really like watson too. secretly hoped the rams would have a chance to draft him before they drafted goff.

and not to take pleasure out of a player going down with an injury like that, but things just got a lot easier for the rams defense.

yeah. jj and kupp were by far my 2 favorite picks from that draft. he’s a lot like joyner in that he can play both safety spots as well as corner. if they can re-sign joyner, that’s a helluva safety combo they have there.

i don’t think they re-sign johnson, so at this point, i still say corner and olb are huge needs. maybe ebukam is one of those guys, but i think it’s still a slight possibility that they have to replace both outside linebackers.

i’ll say this about sonofbum. he quickly recognized the strengths of his players and adapted his system like you said. what a hire!

i’ll be honest. i was thinking they were gonna need to cut him.

i mean i don’t know how accurate pff is, but he’s obviously doing something right. this defense looks better and better each week.

now if only quinn can have a resurgence. i’ve seen that he’s been getting pressure on the qb. maybe he can start converting those pressures into sacks.

i’ve also noted that barron is a solid 225 pounds. also interesting is they had ogletree lose weight from 250 to 235 pounds.

gurley is good. goff has a chance to be good. donald is transcendent.

i think everett’s injured. cuz higbee isn’t that good.

wow. that’s crazy. he and havenstein sound like keepers on the right side. that’s just crazy.

yeah the main thing for me is this team can get better. even though they’ve added veteran leadership i read that they’re still the second youngest team in the nfl. and they’re young at some pretty key positions. but especially at quarterback.

all the parts around goff are working at a high level right now. defense, special teams, the running game. he’s got the support system, and if and when it clicks for goff, as hard as it is to believe, this team could actually get even better.

he’s a good manager of the game. his pocket presence is good. real good.

but he’s got a lot of things to work on. something’s missing right now.

but again. he’s got 14 games starting experience. 7 under the current system. his rookie offseason – the team was relocating to los angeles. his sophomore offseason – they were installing a new system. he already was coming in about as raw a qb can be.

so yeah. i’d consider his rookie season to be unofficially over.

Ogletree had a strong all-around day, as he posted three defensive stops and two QB pressures, one of them the aforementioned hit which knocked Palmer out of the game. He was also excellent in coverage, as he did not give up a reception on five targets and came away with an interception.

ogletree will never be great. but he’s disruptive enough. and i think his leadership on this defense can’t be overstated. i think mcvay and phillips saw that. and it’s starting to show on the overall defensive performance of the team. just my amateur opinion.
