bnwBlockedWell for me, I try to put myself in their shoes. Would I enter a country illegally so that I could feed my family…
….I’m not going to deny them the chance to get just a little taste of what I have and enjoy. And what I have is largely due to me being born on the right side of that same arbitrary border.=================
Yeah, that is what i always think about. And it leads me into a foggy mess
that i cant find my way out of.I mean I dont ‘identify’ as “an American” (even though i recognize i have been influenced and imprinted by this place and time, etc)
I identify as an ‘earthling’. A being-of-the-Biosphere.
I dont like all this ‘my border vs your border’ tribal bullshit. It reminds me of Religions and Race and all the other primitive ways human-systems have created “us versus them” constructs. Systems create “the others” and then dehumanize them, blah blah blah.
I hate it.
But then that view of mine does not lead me to any simple answers to the question of “should everyone just be allowed to move to the USA or North Korea or anywhere they want on the Planet, and how would that work…etc…?

Looks like a lot of overt-racists went for Trump. Looks like a lot of dipshit “fuck the poor” neoliberal white-collar assholes went for Hillary.
There you go again, “overt” racists vote for Trump. Pathetic. Although never owning up to your weakness makes you vulnerable come election time.

Actually ‘the people’ voted for The-Hillary. She won by about 1.5 million votes.
The Electoral-College voted for The Donald. Its all pretty complicated. Even the voting-system itself. The one that comes in second is The President.

They won’t listen to those white voters who fear their jobs will be sent out of this country. No, they only see white meat turkeys they believe is theirs. Its jobs, the economy, rule of law, accountability that all voters capable of rational thought want but still the racism drum never misses a beat. Its good that most people have already tuned it out. Time for positive change.
And yet they sent the same Republican congress back…and then some.
People talk change. They mostly vote from their ideology or habits.
Obama wasn’t a dictator. This was a team effort on things like trade bills.
People vote to send incumbents back time and time again. It’s the OTHER guy they want out–not theirs.
I think Trump’s biggest asset was running against Clinton. People did not so much vote FOR Trump as they did AGAINST her. People do not particularly like Trump. They hated her.
Wrong, so wrong. Trump didn’t have any say in the republican congressional races. He will two years from now because his voters will follow his lead as long as he keeps his promises.
You say Obama is not a dictator? So his murdering americans without a trial, his support for the N,DAA- I know YOU know what that entails, and his utter contempt for the peoples house by his legislating through executive orders is not being a dictator? Then WTF is a dictator?
Incumbent republicans better realize it is a different time and they either get on board or get out of the way. People want solutions to problems and they want it now.
The people most definitely voted FOR Trump. Need to work on some self reflection and take another look at that election map. Party doesn’t mean as much any more to voters. The people voted for change. Not Obama change. They voted FOR Trump.

bnwBlockedHildabeast lost because she is a lying traitorous self enriching hypocrite who has zero appeal to people because she doesn’t like people. She likes her voters. Huge difference. She outspent Trump by 10 times, by 20 times? No amount of money spent could wipe away the insider swamp stench that permeates her being. Her flagrant disregard for the law and the safety of government workers goes way back. She was the original Brian Williams sans consequences until the night of November 8th.
Yes the MSM outrageous anti-Trump coverage helped Trump. However Trump’s calling out the MSM at every event across this nation for months helped him more. He brought the public’s record high disdain for the press out of the normal passive acquiescence to an active protest in which the thousands at his events could participate. Trump took the supposed strength of the MSM and turned it against them and they’re too stupid to realize he’s been doing it against them since election day too. He will take his message directly to the people as president and the MSM will still be incapable of stopping him.

bnwBlockedThe alternative is to just drop immigration policies altogether and let whoever wants to come across illegally, do just that. If they’re terrorists, or drug dealers, or violent criminals, or looking for government welfare, then fine. Everybody come over and destroy and/or pillage this great Country in the interest of political correctness and “love”.
I don’t know if you’re aware of this X, but
illegal immigration really isn’t an issue currently. It’s been used by Trump and other Republicans to whip the masses into a frenzy but the number of illegal immigrants in the US is shrinking and has been for several years.Link: http://www.pewhispanic.org/2015/11/19/more-mexicans-leaving-than-coming-to-the-u-s/

Nowhere in the article is it stated that the Danbury team or community is populated by illegals so what is there to take offense to? bnwBlockedThere are people who have biases or prejudices, and no amount of condemnation or rehabilitation is going to change that. So let them be who they are. Who cares? If a Klansman can’t find peace, then that’s his sorry lot in life. Similarly, if a racist-hunter can’t find peace, then that’s his or her lot as well.
The problem is not what they believe, but how their beliefs affect others. Because those beliefs will ultimately be turned into actions. Sometimes overtly but usually more subtly and less obvious. But those actions have a negative impact on people with less power and privilege. I want to live in a society where those actions are immediately exposed and condemned.
I don’t want to be offended. I don’t need to be offended. The alt-right has nothing to teach me. What you see as a brave fight against manufactured racism I see as an attempt to legitimize their racism.
I just want people to be kind to one another and to stop punching down.
You do not have the right to not be offended. Welcome to my world.

bnwBlockedI find the attitude towards the concept of racism very interesting.
And I don’t really have a point here, so don’t have any expectations from this post. As Mark Twain wrote in the preface to Huck Finn, “persons attempting to find a moral in it will be banished.”
I think we have a big race problem in this country. I think racism is very real. I think it is largely invisible, though, because most people think real racism comes in white sheets, and that everything else is some kind of over-reaction at best. I don’t agree with that. I think the problem is much bigger, and much more invisible than anybody realizes.
I find it interesting how quickly people jump to defend themselves against the charge of racism. I don’t know that there is anything that people are more touchy about, and more quick to deny.
And people go overboard in the other direction trying to dismiss the charge as “the race card.” Even when nobody said anything directly about racism, or made a direct accusation. People are hypersensitive about it. People HATE being accused of racism.
Right now, I am teaching two pieces of literature in my college classes. One of the classes is reading Huckleberry Finn. And the other class is reading a play called “Master Harold…and the boys” which is set in apartheid South Africa.
We are reading the play out loud in class, and discussing Huck Finn.
Huck Finn uses the “N” word over 200 times.
And it is used a handful of times in Master Harold.
In our discussions of Huck Finn, I am the only person – ever – who will say the “N” word out loud…when reading a relevant passage to highlight something, or whatever. Students will not do it. They will skip it. They will say “n-word” sometimes. Most of the time, they hurdle the word as if it isn’t on the page. But they won’t say it. Even though it is right there in the text, a text written in the 1880s by a man who was more pissed off by racism than almost anybody else in his generation.
In reading “Master Harold,” students will say the F word, “Jesus,” and “shit” out loud when they are in the text, but they will not say the N word when we come to that. Their horses come to an immediate halt, and they fly off the saddle over the head of the horse. It is the Worst Word in the English language.
And I find that really interesting.
Because often my classes are 100% Anglo-Saxon. My “Huck Finn” class right now is not. My “Master Harold” class is. 100% Anglo-Saxon.
But kids will NOT say the N-word. Even when reading somebody else’s work.
It is like “he who shall not be named.”
Voldemort.
Nigger.
Told you. No moral.
Your students have been abused by the PC police throughout their entire education. Like prisoners they know what they can and can’t say no matter the context.

Star Trek plays better small.
Star Wars plays better large.
I disagree. Star Trek in both TV and movies is much better than Star Wars. Star Wars is the Chuck E Cheese of Sci-Fi.

Yep. But it’s far more violent than misogyny. Also, although black women only make up 8% of the population, 22% of homicides that result from domestic violence happen to black women and 29% of all victimized women, making it one of the leading causes of death for Black women ages 15 to 35. That’s why I wanna know who “we” is.
