so. for the cap experts here. seems like a pretty reasonable contract, no?

Yes, I think it is a good contract. The guaranteed money is a bit higher than general, but overall more of a team friendly contract. imo
AgamemnonParticipantRams, Ogletree Agree to 4-Year Extension
Posted 1 hour ago
By TheRams.com
The Los Angeles Rams agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension with LB Alec Ogletree, the team announced today. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“Alec has evolved into a true leader of our football team and we are excited to sign him to this extension,” Rams General Manager Les Snead said. “His teammates voted him as a captain in back-to-back seasons for a reason – and it’s not only because of his production, but his character and resiliency. We look forward to Alec helping our team emerge as a consistent winner for years to come.”
Through Week 5, Ogletree leads the Rams with 54 total tackles, including 30 solo stops. Additionally, the Georgia product has 2.0 sacks, and 3 PBUs on the season.
In his first four seasons with the Rams, Ogletree has three seasons in the top 10 for highest single-season tackle totals, which is the most of any Ram in history. He enjoyed his most productive season as a professional in 2016 after leading the Rams defense with 171 tackles, the fifth-highest output in franchise history.
Since 2014, no inside linebacker has recorded more “splash plays” (play where batted pass, pass defensed, forced fumble or interception occurs) than Ogletree’s total of 28.

AgamemnonParticipantI would take Goff’s throw anytime in that situation. It wasn’t center of the target, but it gave the WR a chance to make a play. I expected Kupp to make the catch, but I am not as positive that he should have made the catch as some. I say 7 or 8 out of 10 times he catches it. I think if he would have had his thumbs together, he would have had a better chance to make the catch.
AgamemnonParticipantThey also save about $1.4 million off the cap.
Does that account for Thomas? Or was Thomas already on the books?
As near as I can tell, the $1.4 million is after including Thomas. They needed the space just for future IR candidates.

That is a good question. I am not sure how they figure ThomaS. I don’t think he gets paid while he is suspended.

AgamemnonParticipantRams SS John Johnson & FS Cody Davis get huge PFF grades in loss to Seattle
October 9, 2017

After the biggest heart-breaker of the season the Rams ended up with a crushing loss but may have found something in their young Safety and Tight end.
Overall the Rams defense for the first time since week one put together a complete four-quarter game in which they gave their offense a golden opportunity to beat their biggest rival the Seattle Seahawks multiple times. L.A.’s defensive face of the franchise Aaron Donald (96.8 grade) continued to put pressure on Russell Wilson and the Seahawks backfield racking up a whopping 10 pressures, two tackles for a loss, three QB hits and five total tackles. Next up the Rams ILB Mark Barron (86.8 grade) dominated the team in tackles with 15 including one for a loss and a hit on the QB. The secondary seemed to have had their best game as a whole. Led by the two unlikely safeties Cody Davis (88.4 grade) and John Johnson (88.2 grade) the Rams suddenly looked like the secondary threat many expected them to be with Maurice Alexander and LaMarcus Joyner. Instead, neither played and the non big-named starters on Sunday looked like a legit duo in the back end of the secondary. Lastly, we finally saw Wade Phillips’ guy he brought over from Denver CB Kayvon Webster (86.5 grade). Webster has been waiting for his time to shine and this Sunday despite the loss, Webster was fantastic. He had been held back at the first quarter of the season with some injuries but now you can really start to be optimistic with Webster moving forward.
With that being said, here is what PFF had to say about some of the Rams here:
QB Jared Goff, 60.0 overall grade
“When you go up against the Legion of Boom, you find those windows that little bit smaller than you’re used to. Goff, who came into the game completing 66.7. percent of his passes, was off target throughout, unable to challenge the aggressive Seahawks coverage unit consistently. He was unfortunate with both of his interceptions to some degree, but he just wasn’t accurate enough, especially outside the numbers. There he completed just three of 14 passes thrown further than 10 yards down the field and beyond the numbers, a figure that is not good enough.”
TE Tyler Higbee, 82.6 overall grade
“His blocking may not inspire confidence, but a career day by Higbee showed another weapon developing in this young and exciting Rams offense. His ability to work the middle of the field and down the seam in particular could really a dimension to this attack, and caused Seattle a lot of problems. His 3.63 yards per route for the game were the fourth-most of any tight end this week.”
DI Aaron Donald, 96.8 overall grade
“In what was a dominant matchup that many predicted, Donald absolutely manhandled the Seattle offensive line all game long. He made three solo run stops that contributed to his 94.9 run defense grade. Then he racked up two quarterback hits and eight additional hurries rushing the passer. That led to a pass-rush grade of 91.7 for the game.”
S Cody Davis, 88.4 overall grade
“Davis was impressive all game long for the Rams defense, as he helped keep the Seahawks passing game under control. Davis was only targeted three times as the primary coverage player, but he didnt allow a catch and had one pass defense and an interception. He also added three solo defensive stops which helped lead to his second-highest grade of the game.”
In conclusion PFF clearly saw what we saw during the game. Sure, Goff may have a lower grade than many feel he should have but he still did have a lower than 50 percent completion percentage. The last drive might have been the reason Goff’s grade climbed as he had a 45.2 overall grade in Dallas last weekend. The offense clearly took a step back this week, while the defense rose up to the occasion and ultimately gave the team a chance to win. The Rams will need to turn it around next weekend against a better defense in the Jacksonville Jaguars that forced five interceptions on Ben Roethlisberger. Nonetheless the Rams have some silver linings even after a brutal loss like the one they suffered at the hands of Seattle.

AgamemnonParticipantI think you should manufacture some touches or force the ball to Watkins, whatever you want to call it. I mean, why did you get him? He is the player that can win in all situations. I understand you are going to look for the best matchup, but you don’t voluntarily take you own best WR out of the game. imo

Seahawks had to act fast to bring back Quinton Jefferson
Derek Lewis – Oct 3, 6:22 PMThe Seattle Seahawks normally don’t make their transactions for the following week’s game until Tuesday or Wednesday but to bring in Quinton Jefferson, they had no time to waste.
As Seahawks writer Jared Stranger pointed out, the Seahawks were running up against an NFL rule that would have kept Jefferson on the Los Angeles Rams practice squad. An opponent is not allowed to sign a player off that week’s opponent’s practice squad fewer than five days before matchup or ten days if there’s a bye week prior the matchup.
Follow @drlewisbookit on Twitter for up-to-the-second analysis
That means if the Seahawks didn’t act fast they couldn’t have brought back Jefferson, one of their 2016 NFL draft picks.
It’s unlikely that moving quickly altered their roster; they would have had to send Chris Carson to Injured Reserve, regardless but it’s interesting to note that the NFL is a game of inches off the field, as well.
And, Jefferson is back in the Emerald City along with all the Rams most treasured secrets, surely.

AgamemnonParticipantRams defensive linemen Donald & Brockers headline PFF grades in win vs. DAL
October 2, 2017
| By:
Jake Ellenbogen
In what was one thrilling game to remember for the Los Angeles Rams, many upon many of Rams stood out. Some didn’t but Pro Football Focus graded the ones that did.
The Rams defensive line faced their toughest test of the season going up against what many call the best offensive line in the league. DE Aaron Donald (89.8 grade) racked up the highest total of QB pressures of any defensive player on the season with nine. DT Michael Brockers (84.8 grade) is turning into quite honestly one of the best defensive tackles in the game. Brockers ability to bat down passes at the line of scrimmage and his nonstop motor were not welcomed by Dak Prescott. Meanwhile on the offensive side of the ball LT Andrew Whitworth (81.9 grade) has only allowed one QB pressure all season and has proven so far he was money well spent. TE Tyler Higbee (81.0 grade) excelled in the blocking department and found himself targeted quite a bit deep downfield for what was likely his best complete game of his career. When the Rams found out that LaMarcus Joyner was going to be unable to suit up on Sunday the need for a starter grew. Even though third-round pick S John Johnson III (80.8 grade) didn’t start in his place, he was able to record some great plays on special teams and make a touchdown saving tackle on Ezekiel Elliot.
With that being said, here is what PFF had to say about some of the Rams here:
QB Jared Goff, 45.2 overall grade
“Goff had some good plays, he had a 128.6 passer rating on throws coming from a clean pocket and his touchdown throw down the seam to Gurley was a thing of beauty. But offsetting that there was the bad: he had just a 39.6 passer rating on throws coming under pressure, completing just 3-of-11 passes for 16 yards while under duress and he nearly threw Dallas back into the game late with a ball that should have been intercepted by Anthony Brown.”
TE Tyler Higbee, 81.0 overall grade
.
“After three down weeks to start the season, Higbee had easily his best game of 2017 in Dallas. He only hauled in three of his six targets for a total of 47 yards, two of those catches picked up first downs though and the third was a nice grab right on the sideline to get the Rams into field goal range at the end of the first half. To go with that Higbee also put up an above average 80.7 run-blocking grade.”
DE Aaron Donald, 89.8 overall grade
“Donald simply does not miss a beat; even against one of the league’s best offensive lines Donald was at his best, wreaking havoc against run and pass. His nine pressures were his most of the season so far and one of the only plays that got away from him was one of those 9 pressures where he fell off a sack on Dak Prescott, allowing the Cowboys’ signal caller to spin away for a third down.”
DT Michael Brockers, 84.8 overall grade
“This was far from a one man show on the defensive line this week for the Rams. With Tanzel Smart taking the snaps at nose tackle, Brockers played over the Cowboys’ guards and tackles and in his most productive display as a pass rusher (1 sack, 3 hits, 1 hurry) since Week 14 of his rookie season in 2012. Brockers even added a pair of batted passes as well, after four weeks he is only one pressure shy of matching his pass-rush production for the entire 2016 season.”
In conclusion PFF may not have liked Jared Goff’s play as much as we did. Let’s look at the facts so far, first off, the Rams are 3-1 heading back home, the offense is scoring at will and for the defense, it’s just a matter of time until something clicks. Regardless, there is a lot to like early on as a Rams fan.
I think Higbee’s blocking has been improving all year, although Higbee should catch some that he drops. If Goff takes advantage of his height, those drops might turn into TDs. He is an upgrade over Kendricks. imo
.
I don’t believe thaT almost interception they keep referring to is that bad of a pass. I don’t think the DB could have caught it. Dak’s throw that Trumaine almost intercepted was a much worse throw. imo -
