AgamemnonParticipantI think Havenstein did ok against Clowney in the second half.
i also seem to remember some of the damage clowney did was against guys like kupp and higbee. which was probably not the best idea.
Higbee can’t block Clowney, but he does ok against the average DE. imo I think he is much better than Kendricks was, blocking and catching. Watch this game. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lIL24WKYS7SA3GY_ZK10TpyC9w292nFX/view

Gurley gets the blitzer, but Havenstein blocks Clowney. Clowney beats him to the inside, but Havenstein recovers enough let Goff get the ball off.

AgamemnonParticipantLos Angeles waived offensive lineman Andrew Donnal as its one corresponding move to put the club at 53 players for Sunday’s game against Houston.
I think he’s been active on gamedays too.
From Lonesome Dove: “By God, life is cheap here north of the Canadian.”
..
Donnal has never been active. I always liked Donnal. I do find the move surprising. But, Donnal seems always to have trouble with his knee. Maybe they just like Lucas better? Or, I didn’t know McVay needed 3 TEs that much.

This is from their official site. This gives them a roster spot for Dunbar.
AgamemnonParticipantI was wrong. The Rams don’t get any comp picks in 2018.

I don’t think the trade Gaines was conditional. Typically Snead doesn’t do conditional trades. He would rather move them a year in the future. imo
That would give us 8 picks in 2018-

You are still a Mannionite, I see.
w
vI like him better than Goff. But, I am fine with Goff being the Rams QB.
AgamemnonParticipanti wonder if the rams during some blowout should try and feature mannion with the intention if trading him for a pick. definitely think they need to draft a replacement for him at some point.
Why not keep Mannion as the Rams backup? Who would be better? He probably wouldn’t cost much. imo You can still draft a prospect if you think you want to upgrade Brandon Allen.
AgamemnonParticipantthe draft equals offensive line for sure but also cornerback edge rusher/linebacker and Defensive line….people focus on offense but the truth is this team is just short of having an elite defense too
This will probably be a defensive draft. We have no questions on offense, except it would be good to maintain a strong offensive line. We will probably end up with 2 or 3 comp picks. Maybe a couple in the 3rd round, 10 or 12 picks overall. Snead might trade the late 1st for a couple 2’s and draft like he did this year. Who knows who might drop in the first or we might take the best NT, DE, pass rusher, or CB? There will be loads of defensive picks in this draft.
AgamemnonParticipantWhen i look at that offensive roster, it just doesnt look like it has any weak-links anywhere. Its great to be able to go into the draft and just take whatever they want. Hasnt been that way in a long time.
I imagine they stock up on OLinemen? Jettison Tavon’s big contract and resign Watkins.
I guess Mannion may leave next year? So, i suppose they’ll need a new no.2 QB.
The media iz gonna be picking the Rams as a super-bowl choice next year. I might too.
w
vMannion is here one more year.
.
The Rams could tag Watkins, but that might be more than they want to spend or maybe they would rather tag Joiner? Then they would get a comp 3rd. pick back for the 2cd. round pick they gave up.
.
Tavon is a lot cheaper over the last years of his contract, $9 million/yr. and they don’t save a lot to cut him next year. So, there is a chance he stays.
2018 Roster Bonus: $5M (guaranteed, paid the 3rd league day of 2018) If he gets traded before the 3rd league day, the new team would owe the roster bonus. imo
.
The offensive line is somewhat of a question mark for the future. Lot of FAs in 2019. How much will age and injury affect them. This draft will have some good offensive linemen available early. The Rams have a year before it gets critical. imo But you can’t always fix the offensive line in a year. We might need help next year if something happens.
